Seems like a good idea to do here, if this community wasn't too volatile already

I was referring to the fact that each EotM/MotM event would require a different banner, like how the banner for this site changes weekly.

Anything like the EotM/MotM system on Simtropolis would need to be self-proclaimed or small-scale, if I recall.

-----

Example of the MOTM/EOTM thing in action, with a banner made by one of the forum users, and the month of June "specifically selected". http://community.simtropolis.com/topic/50047-member-of-the-month-june-2012/

And the request to the forum members to create a new banner for each month. http://community.simtropolis.com/topic/49206-calling-all-artists/

We're volatile?

You should see what happened when someone started a religion or bashing thread :P

Some people out there just can't tell when to stop :x

you should become small, like me. i only weigh around 60 kilos, and i'm 17!

78 kilos, 25 yo here Posted Image

Don't remind me, and it wasn't even on MLPForums...

You don't weigh 60 kilos, you weigh 588 newtons. For the record, one kilonewton (1000 newtons) is WAY overweight. (It's a physics discrepancy. 588 newtons is 130 pounds.)

Stop being so serious damnit D:

And YOU weigh 725 newtons. Your mass is 74 kilograms. Weight is related to the force of gravity "pulling" on you, so to get a proper weight, you need to multiply your mass in kilograms by 9.8 meters per second squared to get your weight in newtons.

And to think that the unit of pounds is even stranger... It's a unit of force, not a unit of mass.

So is it better to describe one's weight in newtons instead of pounds or kilograms? Because you weigh less at higher altitudes... Or is the kilogram more accurate, despite the fact that it's a unit of mass and not a unit of weight or force?

Kilogram. I prefer to convert to newtons, though, because a pound can be converted to a newton directly.

Nerd :V

Better in kilos of course. it's much easier to convert to grams and miligrams and others

And I'm 78 now. At least that's my weight before I visited my mum. Right now it could be 80 or more

(Ugh those foods...)

I know, right?

I think weight being expressed in newtons (and weight is a force) would have a bigger impact than expressing it in pounds or kilograms, simply because the numbers are bigger.

Take a weight of 220 pounds. That's nearly 100 kg, but it's 980 newtons. I need to work out.

what's going on in this thread

Just me going all out nerd when I should be making a banner.

If anyone's the egghead, it's my brother...

Believe me; He's obsessed with Harry Potter and other stuff that I forgot.

No, your MASS is 53 kilograms. Your "weight" is 519 newtons.

Expressing things in bigger number only works if they actually make sense :*

From the physics side, it kinda does. Grams only describe how much "stuff" an object has. A crate can have me in it, but an identically-sized crate could have just a feather in it, so if mass describes how much "stuff" an object has, the crate with me in it would have more mass than the crate with a feather in it.

Similarly, a neutron star has craptons of mass, but its diameter is that of a city. This is because you're cramming a crapton of neutrons into a really confined space.

If one were to take a small cube of neutron star stuff onto the earth, it'd probably plough a hole right through, but if one were to take its weight,... It'd be a big number.

Take that same thing to the sun, and its weight would be even greater. On the moon, and it'd be less. Weight is tied in to gravity, and the weight of an object depends on what planet you're weighing that object on. So it ain't that reliable to find the weight of an object, so it's better to find the mass of an object.

I could go on, but it'd take a while, and I think it's clear that I have the most mass out of everyone currently here. In fact, some of my physics classmates talked about going to the doctor's office and telling the doctor to express their weight not in kilograms, but in newtons.

And we ain't talking Fig Newtons.

I'm afraid to ask, but is there any photos of Jonke?

There might be a couple scattered around the photos thread.
