I don't like black metal because of its poor recording quality

 

As Hansel said before not all Black Metal bands use poor recording quality, and just to be nice enough I'll provide an example for you.

Eh, I'm not a huge fan of Thrash as well, though there are a few exceptions that I'll listen to on the occasion.

Old School Metalcore > Melodic Metalcore

Metalcore is one of the most over looked genres of metal (not too sure if this is popular or unpopular)

IDM is the best genre of electronic music

Post-Dubstep > All the other Dubstep out there

 

And that's all that I can think up as of now.

As Hansel said before not all Black Metal bands use poor recording quality, and just to be nice enough I'll provide an example for you.

 

Agalloch are the band that I recommend for all who are trying to get into Black Metal.

 

As much as I adore Agalloch and would recommend them to anyone, I personally wouldn't use them as an example of Black Metal, (at least, not as a stand-alone example) simply because Black Metal is only one of Agalloch's influences. They have a lot of Doom Metal, Neo-Folk, and Post-Metal going on in their music. (Although that particular song is one of their more solid Black Metal pieces.)

 

I would go for Gallowbraid. They're quite similar to Agalloch, but they have a bit of more solid Black Metal sound.

 

 

 

It's just a shame that they currently only have one EP out.

Dopethrone is the greatest metal album of the 00's. There, I fucking said it. It's better than both Blackwater Park and Jane Doe, and much better that Twilight of the Thunder Gods. And yes, I have listened to all four of those album in their entirety.

I'm the kind of person who will only listen to a full album instead of picking and choosing one or two songs from it.

Well Dopethrone's my favorite. Come My Fanatics is also really good but I prefer their self-titled and We Live over it. I also have Black Masses on CD.

Today's mainstream rock, like avenge sevenfold and shinedown, are not that great.

This seems to be unpopular on the forum: The Beatles don't suck, they are just average in my book. Their solo careers afterwards were actually better in my opinion. Music wouldn't be the same without them.

Avenged Sevenfold's more popular stuff isn't that great, but they have some incredible songs (in my opinion) that most people haven't heard. Unfortunately, all their worst songs are the popular ones, which really annoys me.

I'd say that Pink Floyd are the best Prog Rock band, though I wouldn't go so far to say that they're the best band of them all.

- Sonny Moore (Skrillex) actually knows what he's doing.

- Pop music isn't all that bad.

- Music is about production. Not lyrical content, not 'ideas', but primarily it should be about sound.

- Dubstep is far more complex than people think. Also, dubstep is not the same as brostep.

- Flutterrex's music is the absolute best electronical music I've ever heard. Unless you can count some of the songs by Gorillaz as electronic.

- Despite my love for complexity, I really, really dislike Born of Osiris.

- Most raw vocals of metal don't appeal to me at all, one of the major reasons why I dislike trash is because they only know how to scream in a mic, but I don't get the feeling they know how to growl, grunt or scream properly.

- I seriously question every single band that has young band members in them.

- The only time I can listen to rock is when it's played during a concert. Otherwise, it just sounds too weak.

Death metal is a boring and repetitive sub-genre most of the time.

To those talented musicians out there, I recently got into dubstep because of Dj Pon3 and now it, I love I know those people out there work hard on their music but what programs do they use. I have more of an art to music than anything else and would like to get some stuff out there for the community for people to listen to. I am using FL studio right now. Sorry about that. I meant to say that I LIKE classical music. No not just the popular "Clair de Lune" that was played in Twilight or Pachelbel's Canon. Although they're both beautiful pieces, not a lot of people are very willing to dig very deep into it. People would probably not get used to listening to some of Rachmaninoff's and, and especially not Tchaikovsky's more harsh and abstract works (the Symphonies).
