"Oh... Of course." Firebolt said. Though her best attempts to hide all skepticism in her voice failed, she succeeded in keeping her breathe steady. She also noticed that Windy's wings were twitching, but she didn't know what that meant...

 

"I did something wrong! What was it though? Ugh..."

 

Firebolt was beginning to move back from Windy a bit. Not intentionally, but she was still slightly retreating.

"Uh-oh, she's pulling back! You spooked her! Well, what are you gonna do now Windy? Uh, play this off and get back into making out? No! What was the 'policy' with Bolt you agreed to live by? .....Honesty..... Exactly, and you need to honor that. If you don't tell her what's 'up', she'll not know what to think!"

 

Slowly, and with much hesitation, Windy let go of Bolt. His blush was still glowing like a red beacon on his face, despite his best efforts to contain it. Windy took a deep breath in and out before speaking, "Bolt, I'm sorry about that. I just... Well, this happened," he gestured towards his extended wings. "Its a... Its a pegasus thing. When we are with somepony we really, really like, and are... being intimate, our wings snap up like that. Its normal, I promise! But its also a bit embarrassing when we do it, because it shows how much we care for the pony we are with... And so I guess I just felt a bit awkward. Not that I didn't totally enjoy what we had been doing, of course!" He added hastily, looking back at Bolt with a sheepish look on his face.

 

"Well, you certainly gave her the sugar coated version of that, but hopefully she doesn't inquire further into your wing issue, an just moves on with the evening... Although I think you should take a break from that physical action Windy, don't want to move too fast with her, remember?"

After a few minutes of playing around on Nightraxx's piano, Sorrow had put it up in the corner, sitting back down onto the corner. She was starting to become bored again... She just opened up her composition book, and began to write more notes into her piece...

 

...until she got an idea. She was never the best when it came to adding lyrics to her songs, but she figured that she could try it this time... And some genre that she would never even attempt...

"Really?" Firebolt asked. She didn't really fully believe him, but if he was being honest, his explanation made her feel much better. "Ok then..." She took it Windy did not really want to continue, which was a bit of a relief, so she changed the subject, seeing the necklace she had been working on, now cooled but still completely black. "Oh! Um, I need to wash and sand that thing I was working on earlier... If that's alright..."

"Anyways there's a library not too far from here and i'm sure they've got books there that cover the subject." Dogboots stated to Laray trying to forget his previous statement.

Windy nodded eagerly, "Ya, I know its kind of weird, but that's just the way Pegasi work. I guess there had to be SOME drawback to having wings." He said, feeling relieved to finally fold them back down to his sides. Turning his attention to the necklace Bolt had made, Windy gaped at it. "Wow... That thing isn't even finished yet? It already looks super cool..." he said, with a coltlike wondrous gleam in his eye. "Yeah, go right ahead and sand it, do whatever you need to do. I think I'm gonna get some fresh air, cool my head..." Windy gestured towards the balcony where the two of them had dozed the night before. "I mean, unless you want me to stay in here with you..." he said, not wanting Bolt to think he was trying to avoid her.

"Whatever you want to do is fine." Firebolt said, obviously preoccupied with getting a bucket and filling it with warm water, and a bit of dish soap, to clean the blackness off the necklace. As she worked, she began singing a song, as per usual. She seemed to have already forgotten Windy was there, even though she sung quietly.

 

"...A snow white feather comes fluttering along, swaying in the wind..."

 

With the dark overlay starting to fade, the necklace could be noted to be mostly steel. It had chimes falling down, five to be exact, that were lined with copper. This mix perfectly matched the metal collar on the dress Firebolt had brought.

 

((The song Firebolt is singing is Open Your Mind from Ah! My Goddess!, cos I'm obsessed with that show. It is a Japanese song, but can be translated to English well.))

Having opened the sliding glass door to step onto the balcony, Windy paused as he was about to step through. Stopping, he heard Bolt singing, almost to herself. His ears twitched and he felt his heart quicken. "Wow... That is beautiful. I've never heard anything so pretty in my life!" Windy didn't realize it, but he subconsciously stopped from going outside, leaning in the doorway instead and listening to Bolt, while watching her work. Finally deciding to make his presence known again to Bolt, who was clearly immersed in her work, he cleared his throat before saying, "Wow. That was some amazing singing Bolt. I mean, if it was possible for a pony to have two cutie marks, you'd have a singing one right next to your normal one for sure! And that necklace is just gorgeous! Are you planning to keep it, or sell it?"

Nightraxx was surprised by her sudden hug, but he appreciated it, even though he hadn't told her the rest yet. He spoke "I...i didn't. I feared that i would upset or and scare her away, if i told her about my feelings. I wanted to give her time..."

 

Then he continued to explain "I awoke on the next morning...in her bed..." he started shaking. "She slept...in the bathroom...curled up...like you have seen her before sometimes...i brought her to her bed..."

 

A picture of Sorrow flailing and crying in her sleep flashed through his mind. He uttered, now visibly upset himself "It's her dream! I don't know what it was about, but i think it is linked to me...somehow. Because when she woke up, she was completely terrified! It almost felt like i wasn't even existing anymore!"

 

"She ran away...again...I don't know what to do anymore...i love her..but she fears me...it hurts so much..."

 

He sank his head, he didn't want her to see that tears were netting his eyes now, but they started falling onto the floor.

 

"I don't want to lose her....i would be just like back then all over again. When she ran away...." he uttered to the floor, thinking about his past.

At his words, Firebolt snapped back to attention. "Oh... Not really, but thanks." She said bashfully, with a slight blush visible. "Well, I'm almost done. Sanding doesn't take very long. And I think I'll be keeping it." Firebolt's voice stayed oddly soft. Not that she didn't want to talk to Windy, but he was slightly interrupting her.

He heard Moonbeam's offer for help. "You...are the only other pony here who is a friend to sorrow...you talked to her...and she answered...Could you talk to her and see what is wrong? I fear her dream is somehow connected to me...and it made her run away from everything again..."

 

He remembered some of the words she and Sorrow had spoken on the deck "By the way...thank you for your help...and for offering her to help her talking to me..."

Wind continued to stand in the doorway watching Bolt work for a little while longer, before he turned and walked outside to look at the view.

 

Alright Brain, so what's the game plan? She's not gonna be working on that necklace much longer. What should we do? I dunno Windy, maybe invite her to dinner? Oooh, how about I take her mini-golfing? How about not... Just take her to dinner, ok? Fine..."

 

Windy, still lost in thought about Bolt, continued staring obliviously off into space.

The stallion had followed the mare who had already gotten a head start on him to the library.

 

"Wait for me" He said running to catch up with her.

 

After a few minutes had passed the couple found themselves in the library. Dogboots began to search for some reading material on how to teach a pony to read. Though he soon ended up in the kids section and began pulling out simple books.

 

"Okay, how bout we sit here?" The stallion said dropping the books on the table. The table was pretty secluded in the library and was out of sight from anypony that would enter.

 

"It'd be a good idea to keep her away from the main entrance. Any paparazzi that passes by and see's that she can't read or write won't be good for her rep."

When Firebolt had finished, she put the necklace on a nearby table, and cleaned up everything. She then noticed Windy starring at the sky. Instead of saying anything though, she walked up beside him, and leaned against him slightly.

 

"So...? Should I say anything?" The mare wondered, though she remained silent.

Frost chuckled. "I have no idea, but I'm sure it was amazing." Truth be told, he knew exactly what had happened, but maybe it would be best not to mention it to the Moonstruck at this moment. "As long as you don't have a family member that likes to overreact about this kind of thing, we're in the clear." He closed his eyes, knowing full well that he had a tendency to jinx himself on a daily basis.

Finally... Sorrow's new attempt of a song was now finished. This has turned out to be a really good song in her mind. She honestly wished that she could play it on some instrument... Well...

 

Sorrow had walked over to her bags. One of them was unusually heavy for some reason... She opened it up, showing that she had brought a guitar on board. She bought this from a pawn shop a long time ago... It was said that this belonged to some extremely shy stallion that looked extremely close to her... Whoever it was.

 

She put it down on the bed, confused on how to play it...

"I was born in Canterlot, and I've lived there my whole life, so far. I came on this cruise to try to get out and relax a little bit."

"And to maybe find some mare to spend a little time with..."

He looked at her.

"Trottingham...not a very nice place." She mumbled, playing with her empty mug. "I live in Canterlot now. Well, just outside of Canterlot. My cottage is on a lake in the mountains." She said, smiling slightly. "I came on the cruise for...well, a break. Also to make some friends." She blushed. *And maybe something more...* She thought, looking into Nightfall's eyes before she looked over at the door. "Maybe we should just order..."

The first picture was of the Element of Laughter. Dogbotts looked at Laray questionably.

"I've been told about them...from friends...let's read it!" Laray explained. "I want to know what it's about!"

"Elements of Harmony? Haven't heard about those in a couple of years." He said commenting on the topic. Dogboots figured that he must've pulled the book off the shelves when he was looking for material to teach Laray.

 

"According to the page, this is describing the element of laughter. One of the 6 necessary necessary elements for the Elements of Harmony. Apparently, the pony who has the element must have a very optimistic attitude, usually smiling a lot and making others laugh. At least that's what I can get from it." He said reading off the page to Laray.

 

"The Elements of Harmony are usually used in dire situations. Not only that, but last I heard, Celestia is the one that guards them. Still..." He soon shook the thought off. Dogboots was one of the few who didn't hold a real high regard for Royalty and the stallion had his reasons.

 

"My beliefs don't matter and have nothing to do with her. It would only trouble her or make her upset and I can't have that." He thought to himself, still troubled by it.

He finished his tea, glanced at Ocean, then looked around the room.

The waiter nodded and pulled out a notepad. "I'd like the hay waffles please." She said. The waiter scribbled down Ocean's order before looking up at Nightfall. "And for you sir?"
