Doctor XFizzle 8,669 December 18, 2012 Author Share December 18, 2012 It's now Season 3 and we have not received any more information or knowledge about Tar Nation. I'm starting to think the writers are just making Applejack sound insane :/ MLP Forums' resident timelord, sports dilettante, and purveyor of wit and humor~*Traveling Timelord Nonpareil*~
Tall_But_Short_37 233 December 18, 2012 Share December 18, 2012 I've heard rumors of this land. It used to be a wondrous place, inhabited by dinosaurs and mammoths. Then the evil army of nurses and doctors appeared. While saying their traditional war chant (All hail glorious Doctor!), they filled the dinosaur and mammoth swimming pools, thus killing them all off. Now it's a dark and desolate land, full of smog, tar, and mandatory doctors appointments every day. It sounds like an awful place to me. But then again, these are just rumors. I wonder what Applejack's connection to it is?
angels_gal 204 December 18, 2012 Share December 18, 2012 (edited) seriously I've always had this nagging feeling that the residents of tar nation are always getting themselves into rather sticky situations! lol. Stellafera 3,836 December 19, 2012 Share December 19, 2012 (edited) Crystal. Earth. Unicorn. Pegasus. Long ago, the 4 types of ponies lived together in harmony. Then, everything changed when the Tar Nation attacked. Only the avatar, member of all 4 species could stop them. But when the world needed her most, she vanished. A hundred years have passed and my brother and I discovered the new avatar: a pegasus named Fluttershy. And although she's great with animals, she still has a lot to learn before she learns how to actually use her newfound alicorn abilities and have confidence in herself and be assertive and stuff. But I believe Fluttershy can save Equestria... *epic music* All hail glorious firelord Nightmare Moon Doctor. Starshine 16,334 December 19, 2012 Share December 19, 2012 Huh, this ancient topic again? Tarnation is only a slang that often used to express disbelief or anger. When RD somehow crassed her cloud house to AJ's barn, pretty sure you will hear her screaming the word over and over again. Just like "dag nab it" or "gol durn it", it kinda means that somepony is royally pissed
Sunny Fox 5,950 December 19, 2012 Share December 19, 2012 I wonder if the Tar Nation army does regular petrols of the border? They certainly can't be any more useless than the Royal Guard is. 2 Happy minion of The Fabulous One! Jammo 986 December 20, 2012 Share December 20, 2012 I'm proud of this fandom. Two pages in and I'm the first to say "It's where all the black horses are from." Can't accuse bronies of being casual racists. We're in the minority so bronies as a whole aren't going to be accused.
Spring Storm 276 December 20, 2012 Share December 20, 2012 All hail glorious doctor for coming up with a topic I had never thought of in the slightest! While I highly doubt we'll ever actually see a "Tar Nation" in the show, I wouldn't exactly be startled if they did surprise us by making one, considering their love of bad puns when it comes to places. Great troll topic, by the way *trollface* Together since October 19th, 2011

Cowl 128 December 20, 2012 Share December 20, 2012 (edited) Tar Nation is obviously a country whose citizens are mainly Proboscidea who have become trapped in tar pits. All hail glorious doctor! Here is a picture of one of their more populous cities: Edited December 20, 2012 by Cowl 1 And to all things comes an end. We are no more than pages in a book. Turn the page, and thousands die. And for what? For the greed of two powerful leaders. Turn the page and floods, earthquakes and volcanoes are destroying the world. It is a time for acts of despair and of bravery as well. Another turn of the page and countless refugees flee. Is this the end of the story? No. There are countless pages to turn. And to all things comes a beginning! sLORT 28 December 21, 2012 Share December 21, 2012 (edited) The Tar Nation is a mysterious country north of Pakistan and south of Venezuela. The Tar Nation is a single-party state, led by the Tar Nationalists' Party (TNP). The country's government follows the Tarche ideology of self-reliance, initiated by the country's first President, Tarmahn-1. After his death, Tarmahn-1 was declared the country's Eternal President. Tarche became the official state ideology, replacing fascism, when the country adopted a new constitution in 1972. With the dissolution of the Tariet Union in December 1991, the Tar Nation lost a major trading partner and strategic ally. Combined with a series of natural disasters, this led to the Tar Nation famine, which lasted from 1994 to 1998 and killed an estimated 800,000 to 3,500,000 people. The Tar Nation’s leader Tarmahn-2 adopted the Taryun, or "military-first" policy in order to strengthen the country and its government. In 2009, references to fascism were systematically removed from the country's constitution and legal documents altogether. The Tar Nation has been described as a totalitarian dictatorship with an elaborate cult of personality around the Tar family and one of the lowest-ranking human rights records of any country, though the Tar Nation’s government denies this. As a result of its isolation and authoritarian rule, it has sometimes been labeled the "Hermit kingdom", a name once given to its predecessor, the Tar Empire. In 2011, the Tar Nation had the lowest Democracy Index of any nation on Earth. The Tar Nation is one of the world's most militarized countries, with a total of 9,495,000 active, reserve, and paramilitary personnel. Its active duty army of 1.21 million is the 4th largest in the world, after China, the U.S., and Equestria. It is a nuclear-weapons state and has an active space program. I'm starting to think the writers are just making Applejack sound insane :/ Word Origin & Historytarnation 1784, Amer.Eng. alteration of darnation (itself a euphemism for damnation), influenced by tarnal (1790), from phrase by the Eternal (God). I gave the definition back in February 2012. I actually wasn't joking. Applejack is using a real euphemism from old Americana. Thank you Sparklefan1234!!!
