You may see this image and say "Why choose a topic name that barely describes the image?" Well, simple. When one selects a deep, complicated title that at first glance looks like something a average Joe would just shrug off, said image gets no attention and falls deep into the bowels of the forum untouched by members.

Like, if I named this here drawing what it really is, such as "Group of ponies in 1977 GMC Palm Beach Motorhome" it may not receive as many views. Yeah all this may seem show boat-y but hey, i'm a egotistical show-off who really enjoys indirect attention even though I act it out as I don't enjoy such things.

Well anyways folks, for those of you who read this far give yourselves a round of applause and prepare to read much more.

This drawing took a long time. Let's just say it was a bitch to draw this crap in the perspective it is in. I had to look off some reference photos to get the angle just right on the setting and the ponies or it would have been even more difficult to get right. Usually, I can just draw a certain pony in a memorized pose just fine, but considering some of these are in extremely difficult poses to remember, I couldn't help but look at images of the ponies to compare.

What is this picture you ask? Well of course like most of my work, it was inspired by a country song. The song would be "4th of July" by Shooter Jennings (Waylon Jennings son). In the music video they use a 77' GMC Palm Beach Motorhome, which I adore as a recreational vehicle. After looking at many photographs of the interior of said vehicle, I got the layout pretty much spot on and continued to toss the ponies in there.

Mainly the picture is what you make it, but the way I see it is just your simple road trip. Much can be imagined by looking at their facial expressions and poses in the drawing and that is what I find cool about it. It tells a story, and that's what I like in my artwork.

I know i'll receive this question as well: "Where is Rarity?!?!" My advice to you is to put this in your mind; she's not with them at all. I didn't intend her to be either. She's not in the bathroom, bedroom, on the roof, in the shower, under the sink, in the glove box, in a trailer behind the RV, or even anything else you can imagine. I'm not a big Rarity fan.

I just tossed your usual main six plus Vinyl Scratch in there. Yeah, she looks high. So I stuck a blunt in her mouth so I didn't have to fix her eyes after I already drew them.

Okay, okay. I bet after either skipping or reading all that you want to take a look at the drawing. So let me explain that next. I'll first show you the un-colored drawing then progress on afterward with the following colored drawing.

Just a disclaimer. I'm not the best with colors, I cannot see them too well so I apologize in advance for the poor coloring choices. You can see the picture much better either in the un-colored one or the edited colored one. Keep in mind this isn't exactly perfect per say, it's more like a "sketchy" "choppy" drawing, but I didn't want to commit myself to a full-blown MS Paint drawing thingy.

Here's the non-colored image drawn freehand in MS paint in parts and combined together over time.

Here is the colored image. I colored it with the scribble technique which took some time as well.

I brought this one in a image manipulation program (Paint.NET) and did something that I cannot remember to make the colors deeper and filled out much more.

These are kinda unnecessary but I did it anyways to show it in a "finished" form I guess. Even though I basically roughly did this drawing.

Any questions, comments, or questions will be appreciated or not appreciated! img-1579825-6-smile.png

This drawing is 100% Dude approved. I can now die with a smile on my face, without feelin' like the good Lord gypped me.

Things that are awesome about this drawing:

Vinyl's got a J

Rainbow Dash

GMC

WAYLON JENNINGS

To get approval from just anyone is one thing, but to receive 100% approval from The Dude is another. It's obviously a great honor to sit over here knowing The Dude looked at this drawing and right darn well approved of it.

When the great GMC goes to the trouble to make a front wheel drive recreational vehicle, and I go to the trouble to stuff it full of ponies and put Rainbow Dash behind the wheel you know something unique was born right here in front of our eyes my friend.
