Skullbuster 1,906 June 25, 2013 Share June 25, 2013 What do you think the future will be like? i image the future will be some what of a combination of the cyberpunk and utopian archetypes a world that looks sleek and white and all that, but at the same time cybernetic implants and modifications would be wide spread it would be interesting, i might get cybernetic enhancements my self, probably small stuff like making my thumb act as a mobile hot-spot so my mobile device always has internet on it, or sunglasses that connect to the internet what do you think the future will be like? Kyoshi Frost Wolf 41,828 June 25, 2013 Share June 25, 2013 Not very good, it seems society is getting more idiotic. Nuclear weapons are getting into the hands of plenty of bad people and American 'leaders' are dumb as rocks. Plus, the economy doesn't seem to be getting much better and many people in America want to make it a theocracy, apparently. Media will more than likely not improve. It will either stay stagnant or deteriorate. Music is not about self expression if you want to be successful and television is atrocious for the most part. Art may still hold its place, but who cares about that when we have Swamp People?! So, I do not have a positive outlook on the future. I may post something a little more positive when I am in more of a positive mood, which will take a while.
repsol rave 2,963 June 25, 2013 Share June 25, 2013 i think that after world war 3 we kind of get back to the stone age, if we didn't completely nuke all the life off the planet already. but if the future does go well, i think it would be something like that movie total recall, with like a rich side of the world and a poor side My OC's: Roarke, Repsol and Crystal
Celtore 2,770 June 25, 2013 Share June 25, 2013 I don't know if the world will look all that sleek with nature being a jerk and all. I am a transhumanist though and I would like to think that we will be transferring our minds into machinery during my life time. There is so much that I want to learn about that a single life span will not cover. There are a few massive problems with this of course, such as the fact that people are so greedy and stupid that they will likely just enslave themselves to keep an economy with dwindling resources stable. I want to be positive about the future, especially with this sort of possibility in my mind, but there is no way that we wouldn't screw something as awesome as this up. Stellafera 3,836 June 25, 2013 Share June 25, 2013 (edited) Hmm, probably like my front lawn. The forecast for tommorow is -- Oh, you mean distant future? It's kinda hard to answer this question without a general time frame involved. For example, at my most optimistic I predict a firery, blazing ending for Earth. A few billion years in the future, when the Sun swallows up most of the inner solar system, that is. In general, though, I'm optimistic. Cool stuff and cool people are happening now, same as the past, same as the future. Durandal 623 June 25, 2013 Share June 25, 2013 Not very good, it seems society is getting more idiotic. This view in general just seems silly. We've been decrying the slow decay of human intelligence since the beginning of civilization, and the ineffectiveness of politicians since the rise of democracy. The economy may not be in excellent shape now, but we've avoided a repeat of the 1920s, we we may yet pull out of this recession. As well, those that preach Christian ideals are but a vocal minority. Not only that, but I do not expect many of them to desire a theocracy, per se. In addition, are you sure music is all about money? Sure, there is stuff out there that seems like it's made for the purpose of a paycheck, but even popular artists can put their heart and soul into their work. Even then, what of the indie scene - every singer, electronic artist, guitarist, and band that slips past the mainstream radar? Is it about money for them, too? Television may be bad (in my opinion) for the most part, but what of Mythbusters, Morgan Freeman's Through The Wormhole, and the Science channel in general? There are some gems, so all hope is not lost. In addition to this, art is in no short supply. Games are a great example of this. As for me, I am an optimist. Though we shall see roadbumps -- and sometimes potholes -- in the future, it is my belief science and societal progress will march on. What will the future be like? I don't know, but if I had to guess, I would imagine it would be a time where taking a trip to Mars for a regrown lung and perhaps a nanobot injection would take the same amount of time as flying half-way across the world today, and where you can chat with your friend from Titan on a Holographic Display. 1 Signature by Blue Moon
Retro*Derpy 3,197 June 25, 2013 Share June 25, 2013 (edited) It's called Futurama Honestly, I think its going to be a lot like it is now. World still has problems such as corruption and greed, since it is in human nature. The difference being where. It may be on a different planet, or if you are talking really distant, galaxy. ~Silver Essence~ 2,625 June 25, 2013 Share June 25, 2013 I'm not going to lie... the future will of course be high tech and advanced in terms of technology and design. However, the intelligence of humanity has been really stupid and idiotic as of this generation... More and more through each year, the people I have encountered, the education I went through, the support I have been given, the suffering I've been seeing over the years really makes me have less hope for the kids of today. This world is going through a turmoil where things are out of proportion... All I can say is, I do have hope for the future, but only to those I know have a future... Lost 1,410 June 25, 2013 Share June 25, 2013 Why do most assume that for the world to be a wreck in the future we need to have a nuclear war, while it would trash the planet, we don't need world war 3 to do it, look at how we're plowing through non-renewable resources and polluting the atmosphere, our only chance at a eutopian future is to move from earth, we're going to destroy this planet but nobody cares, so long as there's fuel in our cars and life is easy, we won't change our ways. To quote Enter Shikari: "Instead of being spurred into changing our ways, were going to invest in military hardware to fight for the remaining oil beneath the ice, well what happens when it's all gone? Scootalove 10,689 June 25, 2013 Share June 25, 2013 I think the future will turn the Earth into a dessert wasteland where people fight for survival even though the Earth already turned into a post apocalyptic planet where all of the governments are just sitting in their government chairs watching the Earth deplete away. I really don't have much faith for society until we see improvements leading up into the future, if we don't change soon we will have Fallout instead of our planet Earth. Myek 25 June 25, 2013 Share June 25, 2013 My prediction of the world in the future (Let's say, 2025-2080, in first world countries) is that technology will obviously be more developed along with numerous advances in medicine and education and living qualities which would result in higher average life expectancies. I don't expect much to happen in places such as sub-Saharan Africa (Esp. Congo, Rwanda, etc.), but the general progress of mankind in the current and past decades has shown positive effects on the developing world (Mexico, China, Morocco, etc.) so it is plausible that these nations will meet a comfortable standard of living in the future. Of course, feudalism and despots and genocides and wars will still be common, since there was never a second since the start of civilization that none of these were present. As for Kyoshi's comment, I honestly think that he made trivial points and too much of subjective reasoning for me to take serious. Durandal's claim that the inefficiency of politicians has been made prominent by democracy is just a really bad assumption. Corruption and failure and ineffectiveness of the previous system of federalism has obviously existed before Greek democracy, and it is still being proven every day of the year. Back to Kyoshi's comment - "many people in America want to make it a theocracy" Even you aren't exactly happy with religious people calling a center right wing president a "socialist", it isn't as bad as you have just worded it to be. Besides, it's not proper to exaggerate to such an attempt to manipulate words. (Remember, that's how the "theocratic" media got to turn the word "liberal" into a name call and started associating their own values (Ex. political correctness, "feelings", censorship) into their definition of the word, and that somehow stuck with how "liberal" would always be thought as. The "theocracy", as you call it, was also successful with turning the definition of "socialist" to mean a corporatist president that has continued what Bush did to several extents.) 1 The red dots specify where martial law will initiate.Click here for a larger version of the map and other statistics. GuerrierCosmique 146 June 25, 2013 Share June 25, 2013 (edited) Despite being a huge science fiction fan, in my opinion it would be boring to know the future before it happens. Still, if I can make some assumptions: Faster-than-light spaceships, Aliens, A.I., laser rifles, energy weapons, ecologic destruction, air pollution, ocean poisoning, flying cars, robots, impossible tall skyscrapers, a united Earth, financial crisis, economy collaps, Peak Oil, New World Order, virtual reality, surveillance state, World War III, IV, V while counting, space warfare, interstellar conflicts, new planets, space colonisation, mankind spreading out to the stars, dumb TV, genetic engineering, biotechnology, cybernetic bodyparts, overpopulation, giant cities, internetcensorship, mind control, bright aluminium-plastic-polyester-crystal-whatever space clothes, Friendship is Magic Season 4, official brony merchandise and many things more! I forgot to mention time travel. The future's going to be fun. ^^ Edited June 25, 2013 by Tahirih Alex, Alex! You're walking away from history! History! Did Chris Columbus say he wanted to stay home? Flutter's lover <3 8,206 June 26, 2013 Share June 26, 2013 Future? Probably similar to how it is now, except probably energy/laser rifles of some sort hydrogen and 100% electric(no gas assist motor) cars will have completely replaced petrol run cars. We'll have taller skyscrapers, as well as deep underground living. Maybe even hover cars and reliable jetpacks. We'd also probably have somethign similar to speeders in Star Wars. Maybe have colonized Mars. But who knows really.... alternate,is that everyone nukes everyone and the world becomes a large wasteland. Fluttershy's lover, she's my waifu. I'm wasn't assuming such a thing. ReverseFaller 2,484 June 26, 2013 Share June 26, 2013 I'm not too positive about the future, and me being a conspiracy theorist doesn't help at all. I live in the United States which is especially worrying for me, as it seems like this country is crumbling. I definitely don't wanna be here when SHTF. Also, while this country falls our politicians, and leaders who claim to represent us (they don't AT all) say they love freedom. They love freedom so much they're going to give money to terrorists and countries who hate us. According to my favorite one, New World Order, a crimina elite consisting of Comitee of the 300, Trilateral Commission, Bilderberg Group, Iluminati, Freemasons, banking companies, the Rothschilds and Rockefellers, the FED and reptiloid aliens (did I forget someone?), working together with official governments all around the world, plan to come to dominion of the entire Earth to rule, subjugate and enslave humanity.
