I'm guitar-curious.

Well, I learned guitar in two high school classes with no previous experience and later got my own personal guitar as a gift. I use an acoustic.

What advice I can offer is repetition, repetition, repetition. If the first time you don't succeed, keep trying again and again.

I had no previous experience, but with high school classes I could later ace both the written and playing exams two years in a row. I'll admit I'm no "pro", I have much to learn, but I at least went in the right direction.

Sadly, I put my guitar down for nearly 2 years after high school ended because of a "perfect storm" in my life. But very recently I've started picking it up again a bit, broke some strings in the process but I fixed it on my own, good thing I kept spare strings around.

Whether you go with acoustic or electric (you're choice), I wish you luck.
