Well I think so, because of her cutie mark, whether she was aware of that I'm not sure, or if anyone was for that matter, the only ones old enough we know of who would offer her the knowledge would be Celestia and Luna. Their the only ones who'd have been alive long enough to have seen the crystal empire.

Cutie marks are interesting like that, as we don't know if they tell your destiny, or only come when your destiny has happened. Plus, we don't know exactly when Caidence got her cutie mark. Interesting theory though.

I think her Cutie mark has several meanings as Twilight's does. It's a heart of course, which speaks to love and her being the (unnamed) Princess of Love; see Twight and the Crystal Heart Spell. Celestia sent her to the Crystal Empire to rule their. Given that her cutie mark looks like the Crystal Heart this is a fitting destiny indeed. She was recognized by the Crystal Ponies as the "Crystal Princess".

I think she got her cutie mark around the same time she became an alicorn. Cadance (as established in one of the comics, if memory serves) was originally a pegasus.

 

So, like Twilight, she learned about love to such an extreme that it became part of her destiny.

The Crystal Empire needs "love and light".

 

I personally see no reason why Cadance needed to be an Alicorn, (she would've been fine as just a unicorn) but..I guess she earned her way there.

 

Twi probably had the same destiny thing going on when she lost control of her magic in the entrance exam. It's no a coincidence that her cutie mark is a big star with 5 other small ones around it.

 

5 friends, 5 other Elements of Harmony. She was destined for it as well.

Alicorn equals princess and princess equals alicorn. It's not just a title is a physical transformation into a combination of all three races.

You said royalty, I didn't. I said princess. Blueblood is said to be Celestia's adopted Nephew, so the implication is his adoption gave him the title like Shining Armor's marriage did. We don't even know what Blueblood does if anything.

I agree with you. Honestly I think Blueblood was created to just mess with Rarity. He serves no purpose. Maybe we'll learn more about Alicorns next season.

Hard to say. I doubt if the writers ever thought about it. Just like they didn't think about how changing Cadence to an alicorn would blow a hole in everyone's headcanon (including Lauren's) about what an alicorn is, and they didn't think about making the Crystal Empire's relic match her cutie mark just because, and they didn't think about the overt "destiny" stuff in the premiere and finale being at odds with earlier messages in the series.

 

Basically they didn't think much about it, they just wrote cute stuff that sounded cool. That's what the show's been missing since Lauren left: foresight. She planned out everything for them in a "pitch bible" so everything would more or less fit together.
