Are haters just as obsessed as us?

Really sorry to give haters any attention, we already have two threads about them going right now, one is too many, but I've just been wondering about this.

The main reason I think this might be the case, mostly on YouTube I notice this, is that haters always seem to be the first ones to mention ponies. A single MLP related profile picture is enough of a reason for them to start ranting about how much they hate us. And then there are those who actively seek out bronies, I know trolls are everywhere, but why do some of them concentrate solely on us?

In a sense bronies can be considered a sub-culture, and sometimes I get the feeling that some people want to turn brony hating into a sub-culture of it's own. Some people even put enough effort into it to create anti-brony artwork, why would they do this for something they hate so much? The only reason I can think of is that they're trying to build some kind of a community. Obviously they'll never succeed, nothing built on hatred will ever last.

What do you think?

It takes a lot more effort to hate rather than to love. To love something you don't have to put much effort into it, but to hate something at every single turn takes lots of energy. To insult someone just because of there profile picture takes lots of effort, so yes they might be more obsessed than us.

They are pretty crazy... The haters were so insane that I decided to hold a neutral judgement until I watched the series for myself. I also don't really see why they despise a kid's TV show they could ignore so much, it's an odd obsession.

I would compare it with someone that posts on every touhou video how much the game sucks and how stupid the fanbase is for enjoying the series. It's pretty pointless and a massive waste of time on the part of the hater. They are definitely more obsessed than us, at least we watch videos to enjoy ourselves rather than cause a flame war in the comment section (which is equally as pointless as watching tons of videos you hate.)

I think they are for the most part far far more obsessed than us, sure there are a few crazies that are just as bad as them but who is worse the majority of bronies who other than liking a show about cartoon ponies are not much different than anyone else or people who go out of their way to be jackasses to people for liking a show they didn't even give a chance?

I don't know if their trying to build a community, but I do agree that some of them are obsessed as us. Some of them don't have anything better to do, and the others just can't accept us. They can't accept the fact that we're breaking the norm. In fact, some of them think theres actually something wrong with us. People fear what they don't understand, and they don't understand us, so they throw out insults. Some of them, though just have low self esteem so they find someone to target (us) and say things that aren't true to feel better about themselves. So in conclusion, theres actually alot of reasons.

Obsessed? No, worse. They're stupid! They make Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum look like Edison and Einstein.

They're even worth a few billion face-barns.

First off, you used the word "obsessed" pretty lightly. If you're obsessed with MLP, then I'd think you're already going to far with it on your own.

Anyway, with regard to the haters, they're probably closer to obsessed than you are. They tend to remain fixated on, and treat the things they dislike with intentions to degrade it, so that other people can either follow them and join their "hating sub-culture" as you called it, or simply to amuse themselves. It becomes habitual for them as they see it to be annoying. Just as you'd like to get rid of something that's irritating you, they, themselves would like to rid the world of what they dislike. In the end, things like this come down to people's differing perspectives on a certain topic (In this case MLP), with either side trying to defend it's own cause. To promote or to degrade (Or you can be like me who hasn't even watched the show but I'm pretty neutral about it). You would like them to stop hating, while they'd like you to stop supporting and watching the show.

Yes. Hating is bad, but to each his own. They have their opinions which they would like to express... Quite openly at that, while you have yours. All I can really say is to ignore them, and to not give them more intention than they deserve.

I think the haters are the obsessed ones here, since they throw a lot of stereotypes at us like saying that we are pedophiles, homosexuals, and other wrongful things that aren't true at all. So, obsession can get the best of the haters since they don't have anything better than just pouring nonsense in their heads. But, everyone is entitled to their opinion. i just ignore them.

:umad: I was playing TF2 one day, and all the sudden this guy started hating on me because I had my name as Derpy Hooves along with a picture. I then told him I respect his opinion, then he says "Where's the love and tolerance you bronies have?" I just ignored him then and let the other bronies on the server consolt him, but dam....... they get annoying...

I believe haters are more obsessed than bronies. It's like they make hating people who like mlp their life goal. They can only point out obvious lies and stereotypes and accompany that with vulgar language. I respect their opinion that they don't like it, but it is just ridiculous how they go out of their way just to ridicule us and spread nothing but hatred for no reason at all. They attack bronies as if they murdered their family, killed their dog, or something like that. I just don't understand it at all, no matter how hard I try. The haters continuously prove how their intelligence is nonexistent with all of their antics.

Yes, that is why the haters are so obsessed with us.

I honestly have not seen that many people who genuinely care about someone liking My Little Pony. Sure online some trolls like to make your Pony Avatar a big deal. But in real life I honestly don't think anyone cares.

With that being said I guess the answer to the question is we are crazier than them. Because like I said in my experience most haters are just trying to get a rise out of you online and don't actually care all that much.

I can agree with this statement.

I don't let myself be bothered with trolls and haters. I do my own thing, and if that includes liking colorful talking horses, than so be it.

Even back when this thread was more relevant, a time where I legitimately got called a "brony cult member" by a troll, I didn't let it get to me. Hate comments bothered me more back then when I was younger and less mature, but I've always known that those people are a minority. I'm sure now that the vast majority of those people aren't at all obsessed anymore and have moved on to other stuff.

The fandom no longer really has haters but a lot of it was for the same reasons why furries get hate. Simply lack of knowledge of the fandom so you know you can't really let hate have too much effect on you or your fandom experience. Since essentially it comes from looking at things at face value. I believe many of them thought that the fans were trolls and some just wanted to hate something. Not all hate is actual hate a lot of it is just trolling really.
