qqq 217 July 27, 2013 Share July 27, 2013 I was going about on Memebase and came across a video showing that "Discord (The Living Tombstone Remix)" was coming to Rockband 3. I listened to the song and liked it. That same night, I watched the first 5 minutes of an episode (without headphones) but had to postpone the viewing till the morning as I was tired. One episode led to another and I was hooked. Just goes to show what an open mind can lead to.
They call me Loyalty 1,948 July 27, 2013 Share July 27, 2013 I think it was on a forum from Spain. The folk was talking about the the "darkside in MLP" was something about pathological behaviors in some characters, or something like that. They guy was trying to justify himself for being a brony, based on his assumptions about this "hidden darkside on the show" Pure nonsenses to avoid being teased by others. They even posted some creepy images (A violet pony with a psycopath grin. Yeap, that was twilight in lesson Zero) that made think that MLP was in fact something more like a show just for adult people. One particular day I decided to investigate the Brony phenomenon, without knowing a single thing about MLP. I was willing to risk my time in a theory that... was meant to prove basically another theory. Due that I'm curious guy that likes to do crazy things, not really. While I was testing my theory (Just watching MLP to see If I was right or not) I found myself turned into a Brony. Was so fast, that I didn't even noticed it. The show was absolutely great, though I felt a little weird about it. Loved the show since that time. Super Derpy 535 July 27, 2013 Share July 27, 2013 Just all around the internet. Youtube, 4chan, etc. That was before I was interested in the show but then my brother got into watching ponies and I've been hooked since the very first episode. MLPForums Phanact 1,374 July 27, 2013 Share July 27, 2013 I knew that my girlfriend watched it but I refused to for ages. Eventually she started doing a little bit of Rainbow Dash artwork and really wanted me to watch the show so I humored her and watched an episode. Needless to say, I fell in love with the show and I am a bigger fan than she is (her own words, not mine) which she hates xD let's love for me and lets love loud and let's love now cause soon enough we'll die
Umbral Noir 1,556 July 27, 2013 Share July 27, 2013 A couple of my friends were talking about bronies one day (neither of them are actually bronies), saying how it was pretty odd for guys to watch a show originally for little girls. This also confused me, and led to me watching an episode to find out why. After watching the first episode I thought "Hmm... not bad!" and continued to watch the rest of seasons 1 and 2 for "research purposes".
Antismurf9001 1,271 July 27, 2013 Share July 27, 2013 (edited) I'm pretty sure that I first heard of Friendship is Magic from a Final Fantasy forum back in May 2011. A thread was created in the section where you're allowed to discuss other fandoms, and I saw it. I was very confused (I was 18 at the time and still one of the younger members of the forum) and ignored it for about a year. Though if you're asking about when we learned of MLP in general, that was a long time ago (for me at least). It was probably from one of their stupid toy commercials, and being a young boy who could never associate with that which is 'girly,' I hated it with a passion. Several factors have clearly changed since then. Lume WMj 228 July 27, 2013 Share July 27, 2013 The internet, my friend. The internet is the answer for everything. Well, I'd heard about MLP:FiM long ago, kinda when the crazed fans were at their peak, so there was no escaping it: Image boards, online games, forums, YouTube videos, everything was infested by ponies. But I kinda ignored them for a while. Until one day, while searching for music videos on YouTube, I came across this awesome song! I noticed the artist of the song was a brony, and most of his other works were based around MLP. In short, I fell in love with the fan-made content before I even watched the show itself. It didn't take too long for me to go "why not" and watch the first episode of the first season - after that, I got addicted and watched all the rest in a matter of weeks. hereTill6 4 July 27, 2013 Share July 27, 2013 For me, it was an odd combination of Steam, a Civ5 mod featured in the Workshop (Solar Empire FTW!), and an ongoing battle in its comment section. Good God, 'dem haters and bronies were having at it, Warhammer 40K calls for Exterminatus on all things ponies, more level-headed folks reminding them that they're free to ignore pony stuff if it's not their thing, 72 pages and going at the time (yes, I read all of it; I'm a very bored individual). What's all the fuss about these ponies? So I got curious about this MLP phenomena and checked out FIM's TvTropes page and the pilot on Youtube. You can guess the rest... So thanks to all those loudmouthed haters for sending up a big 'ol signal flare on one of the best things to happen to me last year !
Super-TeddyGuy 24 July 28, 2013 Share July 28, 2013 (edited) The first thing I heard about ponies was a parody of a music from Kitsune2, Avast your ass or, as you guys may recognize it, avast fluttershy ass. I got curious about where that come from and did some research and discovered that it was from MLP, I didn't became a brony after that and that's another story... hehehe Edited July 28, 2013 by Super-TeddyGuy
