  1. Feared? Us? Nah, we're not feared... yet. But then one of us becomes Director of the FBI, then CIA, then Dept. of Homeland Security, a few enlisted bronies here and there rise to the rank of general officer in their respective uniformed services... Perhaps I've said too much... Sorry, serious now. I don't think we're feared, at least in the conventional sense. We're just an Internet oddity, grown folk who like a show that's ostensibly for little girls, which, like anything else that's odd and peculiar in this world, will get us poked and prodded. Some hate it, some like it, most don't care for it, none fear it, I'd think. I will say that we're probably hitting some nerves and spooking some out there by defying traditional gender roles and such (for the guys, anyway), being into something so "girly," which I think is great, personally! It's a new day and age where anyone can like anything they please and no one (sensible) gives a damn, so long as it doesn't hurt anyone. And I think that whole "busting down barriers of masculinity and femininity" was kind of what Lauren Faust was aiming for, right? If her deviantart is anything to go by. Whoa, went on a tangent there, sorry. But yeah. We're no more feared than, say, Trekkies. ... I'm not planning a brony coup of the United States. Stop looking at me like that.
  2. For me, it was an odd combination of Steam, a Civ5 mod featured in the Workshop (Solar Empire FTW!), and an ongoing battle in its comment section. Good God, 'dem haters and bronies were having at it, Warhammer 40K calls for Exterminatus on all things ponies, more level-headed folks reminding them that they're free to ignore pony stuff if it's not their thing, 72 pages and going at the time (yes, I read all of it; I'm a very bored individual). What's all the fuss about these ponies? So I got curious about this MLP phenomena and checked out FIM's TvTropes page and the pilot on Youtube. You can guess the rest... So thanks to all those loudmouthed haters for sending up a big 'ol signal flare on one of the best things to happen to me last year !
  3. Ave Celestia! Hail to our outstanding Solar Monarch! I think any actual hatred is few and far between (how much vitriol could someone have for a cartoon pony princess, anyway?). Jokes is all. That she hasn't had much screentime probably makes her seem bland to some, enigmatic to me. I actually kinda' like that she's a bit underdeveloped, leaves a lot of blank spaces for we in the fandom to fill in. Like how would she be after a few mugs of cider ? Wait, that's probably how Molestia happens... (joking, joking!) I quite like her myself (well, I like ALL of them), and I think she could use some more love.
  4. *pokes head through curtain, looks 'round before jumping out* Alrighty then! Hey all! Doing a little advertising here for a fic I've got going on Fimfiction.net, hoping to get it a little more exposure. Yay shameless self-promotion! So I was thinking to myself while on a weekend-long FEAR bender (the first game)... 'Ya' know what'd be hilarious? An army of these mindless, gun-totting drones in idyllic Equestria! That'd really throw those ponies for a loop!' BOOM! A 'New Model Army' was born. Yeah, I'm pretty much doing this for teh lulz. But hopefully in a compelling way! Well, enough gabbing out of me, here's the link: http://www.fimfiction.net/story/88702/new-model-army And here's the summary, just to give you an idea of it: "Eager to vindicate herself about her steadfast belief in the fabled existence of humans, Lyra turns to a "special interests" firm to acquire a prime specimen of the legendary bipeds. Or two. Or three. Or four. Or a dozen. Or a thousand..." Hope you find it a fun read! 'Cuz I rewrote the damned thing like three times now. Rated Teen for some violence and swearing. Oh yeah! And if you have an account on Fimfiction, feel free to leave a comment! Generic praise, scathing criticism, that I'm seriously messed up for trying to meld the ultra-violence of FEAR with pastel-colored ponies, whatever! I'd really appreciate it!
  5. I quite liked both, though my vote would have to go with TCE. It was a good start-off for the season, nicely spring-boarding from A Canterlot Wedding, introducing a new setting, Sombra, the crystal ponies, fleshing out Cadence and Shining Armor a bit as the Crystal Regents, and set the stage for Twilight's eventual princesshood. MMC was alright, though I felt it could've been built up a bit more. I would've thought that something as big as a main character's coronation would at least be a two-parter with more buildup, but, meh, what can you do?
  6. I'm with the general consensus here. We need our devils, a standard for ultimate evil in the MLP world, and King Sombra so far fits that particular niche pretty well. And I agree that his general ambiguity is an opportunity in disguise, there's a lot you can do with it. Also, his eyes give off purple smoke. How do you work a redemption story around that!? Maybe in a Visine commercial you could, hmm...
  7. Ah, so hard to choose. They're all rather attractive in various ways, no one same than the other, wouldn't you say. Rainbow's tomboyishness, Applejack's country charm, Twi's adorkableness, Luna's after hours mysteriousness... But there's one who stands out to me... BAM! This thread be needin' more Fleur. I also like to think she'd make good company, a friendly prim and proper type like Rarity and perhaps a bit of a flirt (make that a lot, actually). A friendly, flirting fleur (alliteration FTW). (hope that pic isn't too racy; lemme' know if I'm approaching a line here)
  8. Is Rainbow beautiful? I'd say so. I'd say she's something of a "reluctant beauty." Being the tomboy she is, she likely doesn't want to be perceived as "pretty" or "feminine" or something along those lines. But alas, lapses do happen, and when they do... She does clean up nicely, don't she? As for personality, I concede she can be arrogant, brash, cocky, etc, but she has her softer moments (Tank and Sleepless in Ponyville comes to mind) and I'd argue the relative brevity of them make them all the more touching. And if nothing else, she may be a jerk, but she's OUR jerk.
  9. Greetings from Las Vegas! No I can't get you free show tickets! Anyway! I've actually been lurking around for a while now and finally got off my rear to join in on all the pony goodness here. Looking forward to some fun times here. I actually have Steam to thank for introducing me to MLP. One day, while getting ready for a session of Civ 5, I noticed a couple of pony mods being featured in my game library (wound up downloading a few of them, lol). Having heard of this "brony" phenomena before in passing, I looked into them out of curiosity. "Animated ponies in the serious context of a Civilization game? How novel." I thought. There was quite the vigorous argument in the comments section, with haters and fellow bronies really going at it. Quite fun to watch, actually. Anyway, I looked at the clock and decided, "Eh, f*ck it. I've got time to kill, so I'll see for myself what all the noise is about," and set down to watch the pilot on Youtube, then another, then another. "Just one more" I kept telling myself. Before I knew it, I was two thirds through the first season (farewell Brony Challenge, you will be sorely missed...) and it was two in the morning... Next day I binged all day on ponies, finishing the first season and taking on the second in one sitting. The songs in the season two finale sealed the deal for me. "Well, damn." thought I, "I've been taken." That was almost six months ago. Ah, how time flies... A little about myself. I'm a bit of a fanfic writer, just started out. Got a couple fics going in Fimfiction.net, which I also happened accross by complete accident (who says Tvtropes is all bad?). Funny thing, I never even considered writing fanfics before ponies (confound them) came into my life. Such is the power of ponies, no?
