"I'm so glad you came into my life." she thought out loud, and nuzzled one of her forearms, which were still around the yellow mare's neck. "Is there anything you want to do today?"

 

 

Candy moaned lazily, "Nothing in particular, really...it looks like our nap gave us only a few hours of light left...hm." She pondered for a moment, and joined Sunny at her side. Candy grew an almost sarcastic-looking grin across her face, "Wanna make out?" She said flatly, her face blank. After a moment of staring at Sunny with that face, Candy finally broke into laughter. "I think we're already passed that..." She grinned, "I'm in the mood for some love...if that's okay with you." She bit her lip, and smiled. After a moment, she processed what she said, "OH! Oh no, not like that...I mean...unless you want to...but, no! I meant- I meant-" Her face was red in anguish, and embarrassment. "I'm stupid...aren't I?" She facehoofed.

Seeing that Bubble had already jumped into conversation with Thunder and Skycoaster, Pondah decided to the let the trio have their conversation before he jumped in. He took a step forwards to place Skycoaster's room keys on the table before stepping back. 'Ergh. My mane-scarf-storage is heavy on my neck when I'm still. I'll have to keep it unwrapped for know.  Pondah unwrapped his mane from around his neck and, after sitting on the floor for a moment, returned it to it's usual position down his back.

Skycoaster was looking over the two when he saw a gold Weather Team Leader badge in Bubble's tail. He was trying to look at it without trying to stair at the mare's flank.

 

"Ahhhh. Excuse me, but I think you found the gold morel badge I lost...and I think it's in your tail." Skycoaster facehoofs. "I bet it was up there the whole time, and you just sat on it." He chuckles a bit. "Well looks like you two are honorary members of Baltimare's weather team now."

"Oh! I can do that! I can do that!" Squeaked Bubble as she sifted through her tail for the badge - twisting at an awkward angle and taking far longer to acquire the trinket than she would have if she had simply stood up to remove it. "I can work the weather, I know how!"

 

She turned to Pondah excitedly. "Ponder, I'm on the weather team! See? I told them that earth ponies can work the weather!"

Before Pondah could raise a hoof in arguement at Bubble's comment, a voice in his head held him back. 'Just let her have this one...' Obeying the voice, Pondah smiled slight and nodded. "It appears that you are," ​Pondah replied. He smirked before continuing. "I guess I know who to complain to should the rains give me any problems." ​Pondah gave Bubble a playful nudge in the side.

The train ride was a little long but it worked. 'Better than on hoof.' Sunny Caramel thought. Just a few days ago, she had hopped on the train back in Appleloosa with excitement. Baltimare would be an new experience than the small country town she grew up. After taking her first step out of the train, Caramel closed her eyes and breathed in the air as the sun shown brightly across her golden mane. A smile crept up her face. "Well, guess I'd better get movin'. Heh, there's sure to be hefty entrepreneurs all around this town lookin' to invest in a smilin' singin' pony," she said as she trotted gleefully out the train station.

Starshine was rather upset. He had been waiting for a train that would go to Ponyville for hours now, but so far the only train that arrived in the station would continue their route elsewhere. He had tried asking the station attendees, but they're as clueless as clams. With a sigh he slumped down on the bench. "I want to go home," the colt murmured. Just when he had the bits to buy a ticket legally, there was no train to speak of.

 

There was another train grinding to a halt in from of him, for a moment his hopes were up, but they were soon dashed as the train was going to somewhere else. He grounded his teeth together and yelled, "Where the hay is the train to Ponyville!?"

The sudden outburst of the random pony caught Caramel off guard. She stared at the colt for a little while...Then, putting a smile on her face, she trotted up to the colt innocently. "Howdy friend," she greeted nicely. "waitin' for a train I see heh." There was a short pause before she continued. "The name's Sunny Caramel, that's Caramel from good ole Appleloosa! I know you appear to be in a sort of pickle  but if ya aint noticed, I'm new to this here town." She nodded towards the trains. "I don't think your train to Ponyville will be arrivin' any time soon, so I was wonderin' if you could show me around."

Rut-Light stopped in place and said with slight panic in his voice, "That beer will have to wait sir.  The next train to Ponyville was due twenty minutes ago, so sorry to leave like this but jobs come first in my book."  He galloped off in full tilt towards a designated passenger train and immediately started prepping it for the trip.  Steam Iron was disappointed to say the least, but he understood his worker well enough to know his reasoning;  work before play.  Rut-Light was now moving the train onto a turn-table and when it was positioned correctly he braked the train, as the table turned Rut-Light noticed the coaches he would be hauling in a while.  Once the turntable stopped, Rut-Light once again backed the train into a siding and coupled to a pair of two passenger white and blue (mostly blue) coaches and once they were coupled together he threw the throttle forward to 30% and the locomotive replied by lurching forward slightly and heading towards the station platform.

 

The ponies on the platform seemed to brighten up at the sight of the train as Rut-Light blew the train whistle; causing  a sound that was simply put: beautiful in his ears, as the train slowed and came to a stop at the station platform the station master blew is neck whistle and yelled the two words he was famous for, "ALL ABOARD!"

Starshine was a bit surprised by the sudden arrival of the mare. He reluctantly returned the greeting. "Hello to you too, I'm... Starshine, from Manehattan."
 
The new mare introduced herself as Sunny Caramel, she also asked him to show her around. Starshine sighed. "I'm sorry, miss, but I'm on a tight schedule here. I need to go to Ponyville as soon as possible, I can't leave this place here, at least until the station had a lunch break," he explained.

Just when he finished speaking, a train whistle screeched and the station master yelled the long-awaited words. Starshine cheered. "That's my train! Sorry miss, see you tomorrow!" With that the colt galloped to the train, took care of his ticket, and jumped aboard the train. "To the Ponyville, train conductor!" The package had been sitting in his saddlebag for a bit too long now, he had a zebra to meet.

Once the coaches were loaded and the station master blew his whistle one again Rut-Light released the brake, set the reverser as far forward as it would go and throttled the regulator to 30%; as to not cause any wheel slippage.  The train lurched forward even harder than last time, but eventually the locomotive started moving and Rut-Light sounded the whistle to announce his departure from the station.

Caramel shook her head and laughed lightly. "Sheesh, folks round here sure are busy. Best of luck to ya in Ponyville!" she hollered at Starshine. 'Well guess I'll have to find my own way around...can't be too big right?' she thought to herself. With a little shake of the mane, Caramel made her way back out the station and into the Baltimare streets.

"Good luck to you too, miss Sunny!" Starshine yelled back to the mare. Slowly but surely the train started leaving Baltimare, the whistle sounded like music to his ears. With a sigh Starshine slumped back to his seat. Not the best seat bits can buy, but it would do for now. The rest of the ride was spent in silence.

"There won't be any problems!" Bubble answered with a perfectly straight face - completely missing the humour behind Pondahs statement. "I won't make thunder and lightning inside this time!" She promised happily.

 

She beamed to herself: aware that she probably wasn't actually going to join the weather team: she already had a job, as well as something to do in Baltimare - showing Pondah how to be cheerful was a full time responsibility that she took very seriously! Still, it was nice to be considered and not just waved off as an earth pony who knew nothing.

"You know, we always need somepony to keep our spirts up. Ponyville has Pinkie Pie, who is also an earth pony, and she's an honorary member of their weather team. Now when winter rolls around...Do you know how to skate?" He said trying to keep a straight face, but couldn't.

Sunny raised an eyebrow at Candy, unsure if she was joking or not, but after a moment, Candy burst into laughter. Sunny chuckled and rolled her eyes. 

At Candy's next sentence, Sunny's face turned bright red. As the mare tried to explain, she sighed. 

"I'm stupid, aren't I?"

Sunny, still blushing. sighed again and shook her head, moving beside Candy and putting her foreleg around her neck to comfort her.

"No, you're not," she said. "You just talk without thinking sometimes." She gave a grin to show she was teasing.

Candy giggled nervously, "Yeeeah...I suppose I do..." She grinned, and sighed, "I'm glad you're so understanding...you make every dumb thing I say not-so-dumb-sounding." She grinned mischievously now, and thought of her previous statement...

...she maintained her grin, "So...do you want to?" She chuckled.

Caramel didn't expect to be up all night. It wasn't easy being in the big city. She yawned heartily as her eyes began to droop. She had been walking forever, too stubborn to admit she was lost. She did meet some...interesting ponies though. She only had enough bits to take care of a week of housing, not including food. Her belly grumbled angrily as she was now wobbling and almost running into polls and other ponies. "Sorry ma'am...er sir." Caramel didn't normally get any comment...at least, any she'd like to repeat. Something did catch her eye though: all the pony performing on the streets while people gave them money. This gave Caramel an idea. Maybe if she sang like they did, she could earn enough money for food and maybe catch the eye of some famous pony who would take her on glory road. She smiled at the thought.

"I don't know how good I am at ice-skating," ​ Pondah replied quickly. "I'm probably hopeless seeing as I've never tried it before." 

 

Pondah surprised himself with his response. Usually, being asked if he was any good at something would lead to a lot sadness and self-loathing at how he can't do anything in practice, only know how to do it. But something seemed different. He didn't feel sad at how he couldn't skate, just a sense of encouragement.

"That's OK Thunder. Don't worry about it." Sky said as he opened his menu. "Well, lets take a look at what kind of goodies they have at this hotel."

 

Skycoaster's jaw dropped when he saw the prices on the menu. ".........Good thing works' paying for this," He chuckled

 

"Here's to having a 5 1/2 pony weather team now! If all goes well, I might just stay here and Captain it myself...What do you ponies think?"

This side of town didn't seem like much but it would do. There were only a few ponies but she doubted she would be heard over the loud hustle bustle of the main streets. Caramel didn't have a microphone or speakers, not a band or accompaniment....just like old times. She looked around briefly then sighed lightly...she would sing slow and gracefully...a first in a long time. Hopefully someone would notice. With a quiet breathe of air, Sunny Caramel began her beautiful ballad:

 

"When the sun rose high upon the western prairie plain,

the wind blew softly through my bright golden mane.

The fields flowed like water and the clouds smiled kindly back to me,

and as the old rooster crowed, I knew I  was undoubtedly free.

I was home.

Home was where I used to play,

Home was where my Ma and Pa would say,

'Darling never let your dreams fly away'

Even still it lies in my heart today.

Home made me bright as day.

Now I walk through lands where the stars barely shine,

my hooves grow tired as I walk the line

I fear I may not make it through the storm but my heart cries out,

A tear fell from Caramel's eye as she smiled. She had almost forgotten the feeling of pouring her heart out in her song.
