Ember slid down to sit with Caramel, watching the rain as he listened to her story.  As she finished he leaned up against her slightly, making his broken horn start to glow softly.  "I'm sorry I wasn't able to see that with you, Caramel...  I wish I could, I just...  I can't do it."  One of his ears flicks while he keeps watching the rain, as if making sure it wasn't coming closer.  "I know you can't drown in rain...  At least, I tell myself I know that.  But when I get caught in a big downpour, I just panic..."  He sighs quietly and turns to look at her, smiling at the mare.  "You keep sayin' I'm strong, you're a lot stronger n' I am though."

Caramel leaned softly back against Ember before chuckling a little at his comment, "If you're referrin to me haulin ya all the way over here on my back, let's just say I bucked hay a lot." She giggled again as she looked back at the rain. "Bein scared of somethin is alright Em...especially after what you've been through. Heck, I'm terrified of snakes and don't like to be anywhere near 'em..." Her voice suddenly became serious as did her now unreadable face, "I want to ask ya somethin Em...Why are you doin this? So much fer some random pony from the country..."

Sunny chuckled along with Candy.
"Well, art is pretty fun... but it seems it's neither of our special talents." she sighed.
Suddenly, there was a flash outside the window, followed by the sound of thunder. A frown appeared on Sunny's face as she realized it was raining. She and Candy would have to stay inside today. 
"Oh no...  Looks like that something's been canceled," she said, ears flattening as she pointed at the window. "We can't go outside in this weather."

The question seemed to catch Ember off guard, and he sat there for a moment looking at her.  "Well..."  He reached back with one hoof to scratch at the back of his mane.  "I guess...  I guess you can say I've been there.  I moved from the farm to the city thinkin' I could sell more fireworks that way, and everypony always seems...  Just so busy in cities.  I remembered a young unicorn with a broken horn cryin' himself to sleep because it felt like there was nopony in the world who cared..."  He looked at Caramel again and smiled, moving his hoof to nudge her chin gently.  "And...  I guess I didn't want to imagine a pretty mare like you bein' in the same place as I've been."

Candy almost frowned, but shrugged it off. She smiled mischievously, giving a sideways glance to Sunny. A moment later, she tackled Sunny onto the floor, not in a way that would hurt her, but one that would surprise her. She now stood over the other mare, "Well, I guess I'll just have to spend the day cramped up in your apartment, watching you be such a cutie, as usual...but I'm not complaining." She giggled, and brought herself to floor-level to cuddle up with Sunny.

 Caramel was satisfied with his answer as a weak smile crept up her muzzle, "Fer what it's worth Em...I do care..." She then awkwardly rubbed her shoulder then placed her hoof on Ember's chest and tapped it again, "You were wonderin what made you strong Em...that...that right there." Returning her hoof, she smiled comfortingly as she meet Ember's eyes to express her truthfulness and pride in her words.

Ember blushed at her words, smiling as his ears drooped a little.  "Caramel, you're the nicest pony I've met...  I'm glad we ran into each other in the street."  He leaned in closer to her, placing his hoof on hers.  "I uhm...  I hope ya can forgive me for this."  With that he leaned in to kiss her briefly before leaning back again, still holding her hoof as he smiled at the mare.  "Er, sorry...  I just couldn't help myself, you make me feel like nopony ever has before..."

Sunny was caught off-guard when Candy tackled her, sending them both to the floor. She stared up at Candy as she spoke, still surprised. Only when Candy cuddled up to her did she register what she had said. Happily returning the cuddle, she giggled as well. "Can't say I'm complaining either, Even if we had found something to do it couldn't beat just staying here and cuddling with you."

Caramel was shocked for a second as she sat there, her face slowly blushing up like a cherry. She blinked for a second then, as her ears lowered, turned her head to her side and closed her eyes tightly. The rain pelted the ground outside the overhang almost in a soothing way for a storm. Her mind was racing in a flurry as she was unsure of what to do or say. Very quietly and recognizably fearful in her voice, Caramel responded to Ember while ever so slowly opening her sapphire eyes, "I'm...I'm happy to have met you too Emb..." A small tear could be seen trickling down her muzzle as her eyes became very glassy. She was trying not to weep...she didn't want to feel vulnerable like she had before. Ember was the first pony she had ever seriously contributed herself to...and all he was doing for her...She chanced a small glance before returning her eyes to the concrete below. A giggle would have emitted from her mouth from the look of worriment on Ember's face had she not felt so...fearful and strange. Caramel remained silent and still, listening to the rain.

"Can't say I'm complaining either, Even if we had found something to do it couldn't beat just staying here and cuddling with you."

 

 

"Yeah...though, if we stay like this all day, our bodies will just get numb, or something..." She chuckled quietly. At the moment, she was loathing herself, she was feeling rather...excited. She knew how Sunny felt about that this early, but she couldn't help herself. Slowly, she nudged her body closer to Sunny's, until the scene became rather intimate.

Sunny started to blush as she noticed how close Candy was getting.
What is she doing? She silently asked herself, nerves starting to set in.
Relax, Sunny. Maybe she just wants to be close.
She may well have been deluding herself, and she knew it, but she didn't want a repeat of her near-breakdown from the night before, or, at least, prevent it from happening as long as she could. While she had gone to sleep happy, she had been moments away from tears from fear of disappointing Candy not much earlier.

Candy was close enough to Sunny that she could feel the other mare become more tense all over. She smiled mischievously. Candy knew she wouldn't be able to do anything, not without it being unwanted by her partner. In her mind, she laughed maniacally. "I know a way I can still have a bit of fun..." With almost no distance between them, Candy began slowly pecking from below Sunny's mouth, all the way down to the top of her torso. Once she reached that point, she just stopped, blatantly, as if to give herself some pleasure, and Sunny a scare. She then simply continued cuddling with her lover. "You're so beautiful." She said, her words half-muffled because of Sunny's coat.

Sky felt his heart sink a bit seeing Bubble this way. He landed next to her on the top of the steps.

 

"Bubble, I consider you a friend, and friends will do anything for each other. If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask me, OK?

Skycoaster held out his forelegs for a friendly hug.

 

"You know where to find me if you need anything. Take care, and I'll see you at work tomorrow, Right?"

"Of course!" Bubble said in a cheerful tone - disregarding the hug and choosing to bop Skycoaster on the nose with a hoof in a friendly display of cheer. "Bright and early, I'll be there!" She continued in her usual tone with an almost perfect smile before retreating inside.

 

She didn't really know why she wanted to be alone: she had gotten her emotions under control enough to give a happy wave towards to hotel staff as she passed them on her way to her room.

 

"I'm a horrible, horrible pony..." She cheerfully chastised herself as she slumped down on her bed. "Why couldn't I just keep my mouth shut? Now Pondah and Sky are miserable too..."

Pondah lept into the cleaning cupboard and began looking around for anything to help him clean the floors.

 

'Step 1: Finish up here. Must be something I can use. Surely I can find a bin bag for all this dust.'

 

In the darkness of the cupboard, it was hard to find a black bag. After some rummaging and use of both eyes and ears, Pondah left the cupboard with a roll of bin bags. He tucked them into his mane and resumed cleaning with the dustpan and brush. With determination coursing through his body, Pondah had very quickly swept all of the dust into one corner.

 

​Ripping off a bag from the roll in his mane, Pondah crept up on the large dust pile. It stood high and ugly like a spot on a teenagers face. With a swift movement, Pondah scooped Mt. Dustmore into the bag and pulled it shut. With a quick dash, he made his way outside and dumped the bin bag into a large bin.

 

'I'm finally done cleaning! Just need to reposition the furniture and then step one is complete!'

After Caramel's reaction, Ember's ears drooped downwards and he looked away towards the rain.  He pulled his hoof away, muttering quietly.  "I-I'm sorry, I shouldn't have...  I don't know what came over me..."

 

Good going, now you've made things awkward between ya.  And you're stuck here, because you're too chicken to step out into that rain.  Ember silently berated himself, hoping he hadn't just driven a wedge between the two of them.

Showering got rid of the dust easily enough and soon Bubble found herself staring out of the window at the rain. Her reflection smiled back at her kindly.

 

"What am I supposed to do?" She asked it. "I'm no good at anything and the more I try, the worse I get!"

 

The reflection said nothing back, on the grounds that it was a reflection.

 

Bubble disregarded this minor fact: she had lied to herself enough - she figured - she may as well continue.

 

"What was I even thinking..? I'm not my sister, I can't build... can't build this! I can hardly find my way home without a guide!" The mare hissed towards the project taking up most of the floor - her cheerful expression twisted and contorted as she kicked a piece across the room.

Skycoaster

Sky, still feeling somewhat sad began the long flight back to his....his office? His home? He had yet to check out the upstairs apartment.

He left Bubble's hotel and flew straight into the storm, above the clouds. His outline causing errie shadows below with each flash of lightning. It felt good to be out for Skycoaster. With each bolt of lightning, he seemed to become more at ease, as if the storm was taking out his anger.

 

From his peach high in the Thunderclouds, he saw a pony who seemed to be terrorized of the storm. He poked a hole in the large cloud, stopping the rain in a five foot area.

He pokes his head down through, a flash of lightning behind him.

"This storm is going to be a doosey, and it's just getting started. This is a backlog of a weeks rain. I'd get inside if I where you two."

 

Seeing the fear of the storm  in the stallions eyes, he sighed. "Look, I'm heading back to the Weather Team's office. You can come there if you want to get out of the rain. I'll poke a few holes in the clouds so you won't get too wet on the way, OK?"

Rut-Light had arrived back at the library about 3 minutes ago and right now he was just relaxing and reading up on random things such as The History of Steam, Kiss: Psycho Circus and other oddball stuff to pass the time while the storm ravaged the outside world, lightning causing blinding amounts of light, the thunder sounding like an amplifier magnifying the sound of a strike at the bowling-alley and the rain thrashing onto the streets of Baltimare, bringing up the oil in the tarmac; making it hell were you to drive on it.  With this though currently in his head, Rut-Light whispered to himself; "If the rain keeps up like this, the rails are going to be extremely slippery tomorrow due to moist leaves; making sand and even bigger deal to put on the rails.  Unless I want significantly reduced friction between the rails and the track."  

 

(The condition he's referring to is called Slippery Rail: "Slippery rail is a condition of railways (railroads) caused by fallen moist leaves that lie on and cling to the top surface of the rails of railway tracks. Caramel felt really bad as Ember's ears dropped. She scooted over to him slowly then nuzzled up against him with her muzzle as a light smile appeared, "Because of this..." She place her hoof embracingly on Ember's chest once more before closing her eyes.

"We can get ya outta here Emb..." Caramel said quietly.

Ember blinks, looking from Caramel to Skycoaster.  He slowly stands up, offering a hoof to Caramel to help her up as well before turning back to the pegasus.  "Er, we got stuck in the rain...  You can get us out?"  His ears started to perk up hopefully.  "I...  I can't really get wet without panicking...  Long story...  But if you could get us somewhere dry, that would be amazing!"  He could barely believe that this pegasus had managed to find them out here, or that he was offering to help them get somewhere out of the storm.  Perhaps things were looking up after all!

Caramel accepted his hoof as she came back to her hooves with a smile. She looked at Skycoaster and nodded, "If ya can get us to the Weather Team office, that'd be great. I don't guess I've been there before." Caramel patted Ember's mane playfully, "Poor Emb here is like a snowpony on a summer day in that there rain. We'd both greatly appreciate it sir."

The office is just a block away, you can't miss it. Just fallow the holes in the clouds there. I have to close them up as you leave or else we'll have flooding from the diverted rain. My assistant, Pondah, should be there. Just tell him Sky sent you to get out of the rain. I should be there in a few minuets after I close these clouds back up." as a lightning bolt nearly misses him.

 

Sky began to poke the needed holes in the clouds to lead a path to the office. Though no longer a downpoor, the path was now just a light sprinkle.

Ember looked at Caramel and swallowed nervously.  "L-Let's go...  Before he has to close the clouds back up."  Focusing on the goal of a dry place to wait, Ember turned and forced himself to step into the lighter rain where Skycoaster had cleared the clouds.  The rain wasn't nearly as heavy here - it still made Ember's chest clench up, but he could tolerate it.  "One hoof in front of the other" he muttered to himself as they made the run to the weather office.

As they burst through the door to the office, Ember lets out a very loud sigh of relief.  He takes a moment to catch his breath before looking up and smiling at the pony already in the building.  That must be Pondah that Sky mentioned...  "H-Hello...  Mister Pondah?  Sky sent us here to get out of the rain, we were stuck in the storm..."

Caramel was happy that Ember could leave his prison. You could see the life spark right back into him. She was surprised at how quickly Ember could run when not frozen solid. Caramel smiled lightly as she chuckled at the thought, "Yes'm. That's about right. Figured we'd give ya some warm company."
