craft Fallout T-45D Power Armour build.

Recently i have decided i want to have an T-45D Power Armour suit from the Fallout series to cosplay with. I found a much used method called 'Papercraft'. The program i use for this is called Pepakura, it requires files which you can usually find at the internet, this method is also commonly used for making Halo armour and weapons. However the problem is i need is the files for the armour itself, i have found the helmet and some weapons. If anyone could be friendly enough to help, that would be very much appreciated.

NOTE: This is what the T-45D Power Armour looks like in-game.

Duuuude. This would look pretty darn sick if you finished it. I've always thought that power armor was too bulky to be practical...Tesla armor has my vote.

Anyway, I don't have the files you need, but I do wish you luck in your search!

Welcome to the club then :) I'm still plugging away on some Spartan Mjolnir MKV from Halo reach myself :)

Converting it though to RD colors and markings :) sadly.. atm my hot knife is MiA... grrrr....

If you haven't already i'd recommend going to the 405th for patterns and plenty of help, they're damned keen on having both around :P

If anyone would know where to find the rest of the stuff, its these guys and gals, and they probably already have it somewhere too.

also, if you can figure it out, Foam is the way to go for most of the body armor, its lighter weight, easier to work with, but requires some ingenuity on your part.

Helmets are def easier when pepped.. but make sure you measure good, a bad measurement can lead to a LOT of wasted time :(

Pepping is good and all, but when put down to it you'll save DAYS worth of work using foam. Less sanding, cheaper materials, and easier to fix errors or expand upon.

fine example is the thigh parts in my pic above are too big. But with the foam i can just re-size the patterns and re-use 2/3 of the original material once disassembled from what i had. Lacking only a few parts that'd need to be completely re-cut!

Sanding? What should be sanded? And how do i use foam?

dig harder, sign up, and ask questions :P those people know a LOT, and i've seen fallout patterns on there before. but they may have been wiped due to some forum issues a few months ago.

Once built, in order to reinforce the paper models usually you'd fiberglass the built part, then bondo and sand it to smooth and create your details.

on body armor this takes a LOT of work and costs a TON of money (a good can of resin and some fiberglass can run $50+ as well as the bondo being anywhere from $30 up....)

Foam takes the main parts of the paper model (biggest chunks) and then you apply that to regular EVA foam mats (the kind usually sold in wal mart for about $20 back by the excercise stuff. they look like giant puzzle pieces)

you trace the part onto the foam and cut them out, then the rest is up to you on how to make it work.

My image above contains all foam made parts except the helmet.  Its mostly trial and error, but its far cheaper than pep/fiberglass/bondo....

If your going to try it with cardboard, i'd say go thin but sturdy. The pep models have a LOT of small joints and such that'll make them hard to fold if you have thicker material. or if using thicker material, treat it like the foam i mention.

either way make sure to use 110lb card stock (usually used for the model itself when pepping) or better for your printed patterns/model cards, regular paper will not cut it.. and most others just don't last long.

here are some T-51B builds from fallout

http://www.405th.com/showthread.php/38402-Fallout-T-51B-Powerarmor?highlight=fallout

I'd start by going to the newb forum first though and ask if anyone knows anything, then after a week or so if no response, try one of those threads to find where they got theirs (if its not already linked, i didn't really look)

If it exists though i'm sure someone made the patterns, and if the patterns exist, they WILL be on the 405th somewhere, or someone there WILL know where to find them.

Edit:

heres a good list of tools and such usually needed to pep a good suit of armor..

and pricing... fun!

some of its for lighting materials too, not everything is needed for most builds. Sometimes getting creative yourself helps to cut corners :)

but most of the top materials are almost a must have for a regular build

mask

resin

bondo

fiberglass

dremel kit

card stock

glue gun

sand paper

X-Acto knife

scissors (actually not recommended due to being a bit bulky, but they come in handy sometimes)

Also, gatlen laser! :P

Thank you for the Gatling Laser files, i've been looking for them and yes, that is indeed the armour i wish to make. The super mutant hammer is the Super Sledge, an upgraded Sledgehammer.
