What were you expecting would happen?

So I know a lot of people have many different problems with the episode, Baby Cakes. The one problem I here the most about is, how is Pound Cake able to fly and how is Pumpkin Cake able to use magic? I think that's mostly due to the fact that Pound Cake was able to before Scootaloo and it took a sonicrain boom in order for Twilights magic to get going.

 

But, shouldn't that have been obvious to everyone at the start of episode that they were going to do that stuff? I mean, if they weren't going to fly and use magic, than why make them a pegasus and a unicorn? They should have just made them earth ponies than.

 

So I guess what I want to know is what people thinking was going to happen when Pound and Pumpkin were introduced as a pegasus and a unicorn?

i honestly thought they where going to be little brats.

basically because that's pretty much every baby episode in every show i ever watched (that's a lot of ever)

so yeah, not very surprising thy used their wings and horn to be a bother

I didn't think anything to be honest. :-) I thought they explained that baby unicorns and pegesi had spontaneous magic and flying in the episode? Really it comes down to being a plot device and a way to mess with Pinky. The writers naively add stuff to episodes, stuff they think is cool, but drive Bronies crazy because it creates plot holes. We want Lord of the Rings detail and they don't provide it.

 

As to Twilight, she has her magic (she flipped the book page), but it doesn't flow freely yet due to stage fright and nopony knew how powerful she really was. The main reason the event is so controversial is because of Scots, as you said, but it looks like we'll ge an answer in season 4 for that too.
