Small changes that would make an episode better

The title says it all.  Pick an episode, any episode, and point out a small change that could have made the episode better.  For example...

A Bird in Hoof

Adding Shining Armor!  I know they didn't come up with him until season 2, but think how much more interesting that episode would be with his inclusion.  Especially if he was the one Twilight had to lie to.

Spike at your Service:

Don't let Spike act like a clumsy idiot.

He ain't one.

He is a friggin' library and personal assistant. When he is clumsy, it's accidentally and not an actual character trait.

One the worst cases of out of character behavior in the show. That episode could have been a lot better if he wasn't presented in that way.

Not to mention it made him look like he couldn't bake even though we've seen Spike bake stuff perfectly in earlier seasons. If he could've stayed in character I think this would've been a really good episode rather than a bad one.

Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000: AJ should have learned something.

I have problems with the episode as a whole, but by far the one thing that kills it for me is AJ's insistence that she didn't have to learn anything. What about not taking the loyalty of your customers for granted? How about not taking part in arrangements you know you have little to no chance of succeeding in? How about "there's nothing wrong with competition (in this case, capitalism) as long as you act like a f***ing adult"?

Sorry Jack, but there's always a lesson to learn when you almost lose your family's farm.

That's also a question of continuity. There are several things that happened in some episodes that are contradictory to things that happened in earlier ones.

I really hoped for that episode to be good, as soon as I got the idea what it was about, but then...

Spike At Your Service: have Spike become a bumbling doofus gradually as the episode rolls on instead of right away. Even from the beginning it had Spike fail miserably at tasks which he normally has no problem with which is very inconsistent and out of character. But his bumbling doofus side coming out as he keeps over working himself out of a sense of obligation makes sense and would still be in character for him.

Apple Family Reunion: I love this episode I love nearly everything about it especially because it has Applejack, but I really would have liked to have a seen a bit more of Bab's Seed and maybe also a bit more Braeburn.

I would like the writers to stop changing the behavior of a character just to develop further a crappy episode plot. Please stop.

"Spike at your service" regarding Spike.

"Wonderbolt Academy" regarding Pinkie Pie. By the way, this was an awesome episode no matter what. But I feel bad for Pinkie.

Apologies for my english.

The reason why some characters feel out of character or inconsistent in certain areas is because sometimes the episodes are written by a different person and therefore have a different perspective of that same character. For an example in Owl's Well That Ends Well written by Cindy Morrow we see that Spike is a good baker but In Spike At Your Service written by Merriwether Williams has a slightly different take on him and thinks he's a bad baker.

The same problem is in all the characters so I think the writers need to come up with a unified way of thinking about how they write their characters to avoid inconsistencies.

Mare Do Well

This episode would've been better if Twilight and the others got into direct conversation with Rainbow Dash about how rash she was acing. Instead of contradicting themselves by doing the same thing she was but with another alias.

Boast Busters

Another episode where some of the mane 6 were out of characters, I can actually understand Twilight's refusal to show off her magic in public because she doesn't really like attention all that much.

But Rainbow Dash and Applejack starts provoking Trixie for showing off even though it's her job. If Trixie would've started provoking the audience (say volunteer Twilight and provoke her about how weak she in in magic compared to her) THEN Applejack and Rainbow Dash could justify themselves to confront Trixie.

I'd be cool if in "Stare Master" Fluttershy tames the CMC by overcoming her timidness rather than talking down a beast just like she did in "Dragonshy".

Spike at Your Service. It's been said, but give Spike a functioning brain and don't B.S. us with a "dragon code" that was never mentioned before (or since). And put a twist on this formula so it's not so cliched.

Magic Duel. Show how Trixie got to Ponyville and chuck the Alicorn Amulet. It looked like it would be a major thing later on but nothing came of it. (Actually don't make the word 'alicorn' canon at all.)

Stare Master. Less of the CMC yelling like dental drills, more glimpses of Fluttershy's life before they arrive and after they leave.

The Last Roundup. No lines for Derpy. Man, the trouble this could have saved everyone.

A Bird in the Hoof. The phoenix isn't an annoying troll for 15 minutes. She really seems sick until her transformation.

Lesson Zero. Twilight's obvious issues are part of actual character development instead of being played for laughs. (And Celestia doesn't scold her for having them.)

Luna Eclipsed. More of Luna's past and why she became Nightmare Moon.

A Canterlot Wedding Pt 2. Celestia apologizes.

Magical Mystery Cure. Just drop a few of the songs. And the plot. And the transformation.

Just For Sidekicks

Have Peewee in the episode and have the setting be only in the library with Spike taking care and helping the pets with their individual difficulties.

Games Ponies Play

See the actual games lol

Mysterious Mare Do Well - Take out the Sugar Cube Corner scene entirely. As I said before, it ruins the entire point of the episode and just makes the mane 6(sans Rainbow) look worse. Getting rid of this scene alone would make this episode easier to swallow

Hearth's Warming Eve - Make it so the leaders actualy have a change of heart at the end of the play instead of them suddenly being nice out of no where after they unfreeze. It's kinda funny how fans overlook this scene considering how hostile they were towards Trixie's, Babs Seed's and Discord's Heel/Face Change in season 3

Mmmmystery of the Friendship Express - Have Applejack actually have a role, best by going with the original plan and have her eat the cake as well. Or say f*** it and just say Pinkie ate it in her sleep

Luna Eclipse - Have that Rarity scene included

Magical Mystery Cute - Fluttershy shouldn't have been Arrevaderched! She should have been the one to rescue all the others, and had Twilight be transformed!

The Crystal Empire: Have Sombra ACTUALLY DO ANYTHING.

Keep Calm And Flutter On: Don't completely destroy Discord's character for the sake of a lie (sorry, "moral") to vomit forth for the kid viewers.

Magical Mystery Cure: Make it two parts. Good episode but fuuuuuuuuck that pacing.
