Is the word "Human" not allowed to be said?

Well, I think if someone asked you what speice you are, you'd ask yourself if they're insane. And I absolutely don't mind the word "human" being taboo in My Little Pony.

Ha, that very thing is why I always find it weird that Applejack says "...everyone it feeds" in Winter Wrap Up. It's funny that I do a sort of mental double take every time... odd to hear a pony say that!

 

pretty sure the cinima sins spoof of EQG on youtube shows the bit where AJ says "what are hands" followed by a montage of the 10-12 times in MLP a pony has said the word "hands" XD

I would think in that movie, Twilight was on a one-track mind.  She had three days to save her world pretty much....nothing else mattered.  Now, if she did have time, oh YES, she would have her nose in every book she could get her hands on.

I realize that straight up asking at first would blow her cover.

 

But, at the library-even if she didn't know how to use Google she definitely knows how to read a book.

 

Plus, when the Human Six find out who she is she still doesn't ask what they're supposed to be called.

 

So it seems to me like they (the writers) had to rush to meet a deadline and couldn't address the issue due to a limited running time or forgot about it altogether.

We hardly hear the characters refer to themselves as horses, so why would they call themselves humans in casual conversation? 

Yeah I like to think the same way: Seeing as how humans don't look like this, I refuse to believe those things in EqG are humans.

 

Well maybe they aren't exactly humans. Think about it. They have strange colored skin and wierd colored hair. Perhaps the world of EG wasn't one of humans. But of something else.

So the Equines with strange colored manes and coats aren't ponies?

How often do you use the term "human" in daily conversation? I'm going to go to my human house to eat human food. No. We don't use it unless we're referring to us as a species, which is irrelevant to the plot of EG. Except for Twilight Sparkle, but as @Mr. Critical said, she'd look pretty stupid going around asking "...What are all of you??"

 

Additionally, I think this is to prevent limitations to the story. I don't know how far they were thinking EG would go, but I think it's fair to say that were it possible and if it made financial sense, they'd try and get as much out of the series as they could, would they not? I think it's fair to say that there's probably not going to be any more EG beyond the movie, but that wasn't certain before it was released. And calling them "human" would have limited the possibilities they had with them. One instance I can think of is Sunset Shimmer transforming into a demon... thing... Real humans can't do that or use magic, so it's a limitation upon them and it requires much more suspension of disbelief than if we just don't say they're humans.

 

This also accounts for their names and skin color. Real humans don't have names like "Fluttershy" and "Pinkie Pie." Real humans don't have blue or purple skin. Again, calling them "human" would make this harder to believe. It's true that they're humanoid creatures and their world is made to resemble ours. However, that they're not human gives more options for the series. I don't think it was any kind of weird rule or anything. I just think it was better for the movie as a whole that they didn't call them "humans."

I don't really think that Sunset Shimmer transforming into a demon was a reason not to use the word "human" to describe the beings in Equestria Girls, that just seems a little silly and contrived.

 

I mean, real ponies can't talk yet all the ponies in Equestria refer to themselves as ponies, so I don't think that part of the human argument holds water.

personally, i wondered more why they said "stomp your hooves" than why they dont say human, but then it makes sense if you think of them as anthros instead of human, meaning that twilight was only half way to our world, although a portal to equetria would rock now that i think of it lol, but anyways thats my opinion

Twilight's smart, she obviously didn't want to draw attention to herself. If she'd asked Fluttershy, "What are you?" then everyone would be giving her strange looks. She could have asked Sunset Shimmer, but I'm not sure she would have helped much.

I imagine Sunset Shimmer either would've said "Wouldn't you like to know?" or recorded Twilight in order to use that against her.
