What is a Hipster Brony?

I know the answer is probably out there on Google somewhere, I searched for hipster, hipsterbrony, and hipster brony in the forums and got nothing but posts asking what you were. I just finished the BronyDoc and a few time in it they mentioned hipster bronies but never went in-depth on what or who they were, or I just suck at paying attention to these things, but can someone answer my question. What is a Hipster Brony?

Please do know that I am new to the brony community.

A Hipster Brony is some one who watches the show not for entertainment purposes, per se, but merely for the irony that an entire generation of men find this show entertaining. They watch the show with rather amused detachment. At least, that's what I think Hipster Bronies are. I could be totally wrong. xD

Oh ok, thanks. I was just confused, the documentary brought it up several times and I was thinking what the hell is a hipster brony every time they mentioned it. Thanks for the replies!

From what I've seen, a Hipster Brony is a brony who enjoyed the show as far back at the 80's and somehow think they're a God for liking it before G4. I also know that my sister hates G4 and only likes the old ones...despite not going back to watch them to see how bad they were.

From what I gather they embrace the show out of the irony rather than an actual interest in the show.  I imagine many of them end up legitimately liking the show after seeing a few episodes, hell to be honest that isn't too far from how I got into the show.

From what I can gather, they are Bronies who are Bronies, simply to be a Brony. They have little to no knowledge of the show.

The other side of the coin defines them as those who were there "before generation 4", or, before it was popular.

Type one I really have no problem with, the more the merrier. Type two annoys the hell out of me. They think they are superior for liking something longer than someone else. I never quite understood that mentality.

Truly the worst kind of scum. Who joins a group just so they can say that they're in that group? Not caring about what they're actually getting into. But yeah, the second definition is probably more accurate, still scumbags though.

I am a Brony. I love being a Brony, Twilight is best pony.

A hipster brony is a brony who hangs around Starbucks all day with a scarf and thick-rimmed glasses, writing his report on the economic effect of the Gulf War for his college class that he'll never use in a future career.

No but seriously, i think everyone that posted before me in the topic explained it really well.
