It's a Honda HR-V if anyone cares to know. :P

And here are my thoughts if anyone cares to know.

I like it. It's not the greatest thing ever. My old car had 200 HP. This thing's making a measly 141. And the throttle isn't as responsive as I'm used to. I'm used to burying the gas and flying up to 90 miles an hour in a hurry. This thing wants to stop and smell the roses.

Although, that's not that big of a deal. Because of what it is (a compact crossover, not a sports car), I'm not too keen to drive like an idiot with it. Actually, I kinda wanna be a little pokey with it. To be honest, my biggest qualm with it is the clunky radio controls. Gone are the days of dedicated buttons; this thing is entirely touchscreen, and I'm not a fan. Touchscreens belong in certain places like cell phones. They do not belong on a car stereo. To turn up the volume in my old car, I just felt around for the giant dial on the head unit. On this thing, I've got to actually take my eyes off the road for a second to see where the volume control is. While it looks cool, it's not the greatest thing there is as far as functionality goes.

Though I do like that the radio does have a dimmer switch on it for nighttime driving. I've shied away from newer cars with these giant displays because the one on my mom's Mercedes-Benz doesn't dim. And it gives me headaches at night.

Now on to what I do like about the car.

Bluetooth. I never knew I needed this in my car. It is so nice to not have to dig around for my phone when someone's calling me. Speaking of which, the car radio rings. Not my phone. 90% of the time in my old car, I never knew someone was trying to call me. I couldn't hear it ring over all the road noise and the radio. So this is a welcome feature.

The climate control and radio look totally badass. I don't care for the fact that it's touchscreen, but when it's off, it's buttonless look is really cool.

Then the brake hold. It's totally lazy and you don't know you need that until you have it. I'm still not used to having it. Or the backup or side cameras. I'm still looking behind me (as is customary with cars that don't have these...like a 2000 Honda Prelude) to check for traffic and other things. I'm also holding the brake at stoplights when the car will do it for me.

The fuel economy is also pretty good in this thing. I was probably pulling anywhere from 14 to 20 in the city and from 18 to 29 highway. I've only seen what it'll get at 75 miles an hour. Of the 110 total miles on the car, 20 of them were spend driving in a city. I don't expect I'll ever see my lifetime fuel economy ever hit 30 because I do most of my driving in town, but I'll probably never get below 20. The average on this car was estimated at 31....but come on...we all know they inflate those numbers. But like I said earlier, the pokey acceleration this thing has makes me want to drive like I'm in no hurry at all. And that's a stark contrast to what I've always done in the Prelude, which wants fly away from stoplights.

The sound system is pretty average. It's about what you would expect in a car at this range. It's marginally better than the sound system in my old car, except my old car was better at producing treble than this one. That was because it had 8 tweeters, though. Every cymbal hit in the Prelude was crystal clear. So I don't know that I truly got an upgrade in terms of sound quality.

Handling-wise, it's not too shabby. I'm afraid to take corners in it, though, as it's more top heavy than the Prelude. The brakes do their job. They're pretty good, but not the best I've ever used. Steering is electronic, though. I've always preferred hydraulic power steering, but I guess you can't win them all.

It's very spacious, though. The Prelude fit me, but only just. Once I fell into it and ratcheted my legs up into the cavity where the driver sits, I fit alright. But being six feet tall and cramming yourself into a sports car is a bit of an art. You don't just do it without hitting something the first time. It takes practice to get into one. With an HR-V, you open the door and climb on in. It's so easy, a monkey could do it. It feels like I could have a full kitchen in it and still have room for plenty of passengers. It is just that much bigger than my old car. And keep in mind that this is their baby crossover. The CR-V is their full size crossover.

I do like the overall look of it. They've got the rear door handles on the side to make it look more like a two-door, and it achieves this rather well.

The cargo bay is much larger, naturally. I could stock up on a year's worth of groceries and only make one trip.

I really don't have much else to say about it for the time being. It's a neat car. I don't know how I'm going to like it once my first payment is due. I may even end up moving into an apartment with lower rent. We'll just have to see about it. In the meantime, I enjoy driving it. I give it a 3.5/5. It's not as fun as the Prelude, but it's much more grown up.

It's also nice that this thing won't end up in the shop every two weeks for some stupid crap.

Now, time to insure it.

I hate insurance, but I guess you've gotta have it.
