open The Town

Afer Repsol fully inspected his room he decided to just go out and see what this town had top offer. He knew that he wasn't going back to his little home in ponyville anytime soon so he would just try to make the best out of it. As he trotted throught the motel it seemed... diffrent. Like the walls had changed somehow. 

Repsol shrugged the thoughts off as he spotted the elderly mare again who owned the place. 

"Thanks again for the room m'am!" Repsol said, giving her a slight bow.

He continued to the exit and could allready see that the small town had become much more alive in the time he spent in the room.

Once he was outside he decided that he needed something to eat, and he went looking for a restaurant or something. After a few minnutes his eyes fell upon a cafe. "Guess it'll have to do..." Repsol muttered under his breath as he changed direction towards the cafe.

A sheriff was sitting at a table near the cafe's entrance. He had a small hat and badge to indicate his position, but didn't look like much of a cop. He had long, scraggly grey hair and was roughly the same height as a small child. His short, skinny frame was covered by a dirty, Brown coat of fur.

the mare tilted her head "i dont know what your talking about, time has gone by normally, are you sure you didnt fall asleep on the wing? ive heard that pegasi can fall asleep while flying, i guess they just glide when they do that" she said to him mystified at his odd question

The mare just went walking on by as if Hyper hadn't even existed. "Okay, that was awkward. Let's just keep moving, shall we?" Hyper and Ember turn around to continue their tour when they see none other than Rapid Twister, Hyper's best friend. Hyper trots over to Rapid Twister to introduce Ember. "Twist, hey! How's it going? Meet my new friend, Ember Sparx. He's just stopping through to collect some fireworks materials."

"Hmmmm", Sarge said, "perhaps...Eh, whatever, no time to ponder! I need caffeine to flow through my veins. Thanks for the directions!"  Sarge Happily trotted over to the cafe while giggling to himself at the random thoughts going on in his head.

Ember smiled slightly, trying to focus on the other ponies enough to be polite but also trying to get a good look at the town.  "Heh, thanks...  I mostly need different kinds of stone, I don't suppose there's any unique ones around town?"  A soft green glow surrounded Ember's broken horn as he lifted up a container of powder out of his saddlebags to show the other ponies as an example.  "Preferably small enough to crush easily?"

As repsol made his way to the cafe, he noticed a stallion sitting at the entrance. Thinking of it as his best chance on getting some information about the place, he trotted over to the pony and cleared his throat.

"Ahum. Good day sir. My name is repsol rave, and i am kinda... Lost. Do you by any chance know where i can find the fastest route back to ponyville?"

Sarge entered the cafe, with a big smile on his face. As soon as it was his turn, he placed his order "Hello and good morning, sir! I Would like one gallon of cappuccino, please, and a doughnut too, if you have any" He waited for a reply with a toothy grin on his face.

Ember swallows, his ears drooping as a nervous smile crosses his face.  "The L-L-Lake?  I...  I'll make my way down there later...  I like being able to s-select my own supplies..."  He gives another nervous little laugh before trying to change the subject.  "Stay the night?  Oh, is there an inn here?"

"Yea, there's an inn, but I don't think it has any vacancies. You could, However, stay at my place. Consider it a sleep over. I keep a tidy house, and we'll get back a bit late from the party, so you'll be so tire  you'll fall right asleep. What'dya say?" Hyper Threw on the biggest smile possible, letting Ember know he was in among friends.

"Oh, umm, I suppose.  I wouldn't want to intrude...."  Ember smiled nervously again.  He liked this other pony, but he wasn't used to such charity.  "I can pay you for the trouble...  Oh!  Or I could make you a firework!  Would you be interested in that?  I could set it off at your party if you wanted!"  Ember smiled easier as he spoke, looking forward to meeting some of the local ponies at this party and for the opportunity to potentially show off his work in front of a large portion of the town.  I might even make a sale out of this party, he thought to himself.  "You can pick the colors!  I should have enough of my basic supplies to make whatever you'd want!"  It seems that speaking about his work puts Ember in an immensely more carefree attitude, the stallion practically dancing from hoof to hoof at the mere thought of making this firework.

Hyper mulled over this piece of information, processing and weighing the answer. "Well, I was gonna let you stay for free, but now you HAVE to make a couple fireworks. How awesome would that be? We could have red, and blue, and red, and orange, and red, and more red... in case you haven't noticed, I like red. Could you please make some? I'll even go to the lake with you to get them!"

Ember smiled again, his passion for his work temporarily overcoming his phobia of water.  Well, okay, maybe just lessening it.  A little bit.  "Sure!  As long as the stones I need aren't actually IN the lake, everything should be fine.  I can make it the best fireworks display you've ever seen!"  He starts to happily trot down the street before skidding to a stop, realizing he has no idea where he's going.  "Uh, which way is the lake?"  One of his ears twitches as he smiles, and he can be heard muttering under his breath about different kinds of stones and colors, as if going over a list he's memorized.

Hyper chuckled at his new friend's enthusiasm. He also chuckled at the fact that he was going the wrong way. "Other way, buddy. And no, the stones aren't actually IN the lake. Besides, I can't get in the lake, either. It'll mess up my flying for the next couple of days. C'mon, walk with me.

Sarge exited the cafe, full of cappuccino and donut "To the hotel!" he shouted to himself. He Started walking to the hotel, on the way there he whistled various obscure tunes. He soon passed Hyper and Ember at which time he let out a loud belch "that was tasty" he said before entering the hotel.

Ember followed Hyper towards the lake, glancing around the town, still going over his list under his breath.  That was when he noticed the exhausted looking pegasus, coming to a stop as he looked at her.  "Hold on Hyper.  She looks like she's in rough shape..."  Without waiting for his new friend to reply Ember changed course, trotting over towards the pegasus with a worried look on his face.  "Pardon miss, are you alright?  You look exhausted, can I help?"

Sunset looked at the pony who had come up to her and hid her face with her mane. Being exhausted didn't make her any less timid.

"U-um... I-I don't know... I-ive been walking and fl-flying for a f-few days straight... I-I had to get away... I wanted to get as f-far away as possible..."

"It's ok, what ever you were running from is far behind you, now." Hyper gave Ember a 'she's delusional' look and turned back to Sunset. "We've got to get you to the inn so you can get some rest. Sorry, Ember, your tour will have to wait." The two friends carried the mare to the inn, to the front desk, and to her room. When they put the mare on the bed, she collapsed immediately from utter fatigue.

Sunset squeaked as she was suddenly lifted by the two stallions and carried inside. They got her a room and set her down on the bed, and she immediately collapsed from pure exhaustion.

"U-u-um... th-thank you...." she mumbled, pulling up the covers. It was probably not the best bed by most ponies' standards, but it was about the comfiest thing she had ever been on. Her eyes started to droop.

"U-um... th-thanks for getting m-me a room... I-I'll try to find a way to pay you back..."

Ember's ears drooped while he looked at the exhausted mare.  He couldn't help but notice the poor pegasus' scars, and he had immediately decided he wanted to do whatever he could to help her.  Moving over to the side of her bed, he did his best to give her his warmest smile.  "Hey, don't worry about that.  My name's Ember, and my friend's name is Hyper.  You're safe now, alright?"  He turned towards Hyper and nodded towards the door.  "We should probably let her rest..."

 

As Ember walked out of Sunset's room, he turned towards Hyper.  "Listen, the lake didn't look all that far...  I'm going to rent the room across the hall here, if I give you a list of what to look for could you run to the lake and gather the stones I need?  I'll get right to work on your fireworks, but I...  I want to be nearby for when she wakes up.  She looks like she could really use a friend."

"Of course. I understand. I'll be going, now. If anybody gives you any trouble around here, just tell them you're a friend of mine. That should take care of it." As Hyper turned to leave, he turned to look at the mare once again, feeling sorry for her. Whatever happened really did a number on her. Hyper walked outside and into the street, and realized that he should get the party decorations started. It was only 10 o'clock, but he felt like he'd had a full day. Hyper mulled over the two new ponies on the way to the party store.

Sunset nodded and watched as the stallions left her room. She was too tired to pay attention to anything else they said, just pulled the covers up farther.

So comfy...

She immediately fell asleep, but her dreams were't peaceful. Then again, they never were. She dreamt of thhe last few beatings she had gotten so many years ago in the orphanage, before the ponies were caught. She tossed and turned, whimpering, as tears made streaks in her fur.

If nothing else, Ember was a pony true to his word.  He saw to renting the room across from the one where they had settled Sunset into, leaving his door propped open.  After a quick inspection of his room he pulled the desk into the center of the room, setting it up as his workstation.

First things first, he searched his saddlebags for a stack of blank paper, quill, and ink.  On one he quickly scrawled out "I'm in the room across the hall if you want company.  Door's open.  Come on in.  -Ember".  A quick trot across the hall and he had slid it under the pegasus' door, figuring she would find it whenever she woke up.

After taking care of that he cleared off the desk, stacking his firework supplies on it.  As he began going over his inventory he scrawled a few notes onto a second blank parchment, making notes about what he was running low on and the kind of stones he would need Hyper to help him find.  Satisfied with the list he set it aside and began mixing and wrapping the different powders.  He may as well fill his free time by making some fireworks for his friend.

Hyper entered the Party Store and was welcomed with he smell of cake. Obviously, someone had had the overwhelming craving for cake, and the smell told Hyper that it must've done the job. Hyper went to the desk and riddled off a quick list of what he needed  for the party. Streamers, lights, balloons, and other things went with him as he traveled to the fresh market. Everypony knows, afterall, that the backbone to a great party is music and food.

After a short while, Sunset woke up, tears still pooling in her eyes. She sat up, wiped them away, and looked at the clock. She hadn't been asleep for too long, but it was the most sleep she had had in days. She stretched her wings out and got up. 

Going to the door, the small orange Pegasus heard a crinkle underneath her hoof, and looked down to see a note. picking it up, she saw it was from one of the stallions who had helped her. She opened her door and stared at the door across from it, not sure if she should knock.

Setting another completed firework aside, Ember took a moment to stare at the small pile of completed fireworks he'd already made.  "That's a decent start."  He then turned his head to the other side, looking at his remaining inventory.  "That's less decent...  Hyper wanted a lot of red, and I'm running out...  Hopefully this L...Lake has what I need."  

 

With a quick shake of his head he pushed away from his desk, stretching and walking towards the door.  As he pulled it open he noticed the pegasus from earlier.  Blinking he skidded to a stop before smiling easily at her.

"Oh, hi!  I didn't expect you to be awake so soon.  Are you feeling better?"
