In Season 3 Episode 4 Scotaloo shoots "Luster Dust" at Sweetie Belle. Sweetie Belle then says that's the stuff that Rarity must use on her "Emergency Edible Boots"

 

 

 

Why would Rarity ever need Emergency Edible Boots? She doesn't even where boots half the time.

That's what I was thinking about, except she just styled her boots in a way she would only like. Oh yeah, I imagined the boots with diamonds.

Um... my only speculation is that perhaps it's a fancy delicacy like in spy fox 2! Or perhaps it's just a boot that happens to be edible, like maybe she just uses that dust for the appearance alone. I think this would be the somewhat logical answer, Sweetie Belle could have stumbled upon the edible nature by accident.

Maybe it's just as it sounds; an emergency provision. There are such things as edible pencils and edible mattresses for those who think they might become trapped in the event of an earthquake, for example.

When I think of an edible pencil, I think it would probably kill you since the main focus of a pencil is to write and making it edible can mean you consumed the lead too.

I can only think maybe she ended up not liking her boots while she was out and didn't have time to change, she could just eat them.  Or if she was lost and ran out of food.  Or maybe if something was chasing her she could throw the boots and distract them.  lol

I honestly think that's an adult joke. I mean, edible lingerie exists and the whole socks thing with ponies, so put the two together and I think you could get an idea of how that could be interpreted.

I think I was the one who mentioned that in the Adult References thread. I don't know if I would get in trouble for saying what I think it means, but just think about what other item of clothing is edible and is meant for someone else to eat while it is being worn *hint hint*.
