Halo 2 on Cairo Station he's in space that's about AT MOST 20 minutes in to the game.

well they could have been installed in his armor before he left to the Ark x)

Indeed. I'm a big Halo nerd.

If the Halo community wasn't filled with such stupid, ignorant jerks I would probably spend all day talking about canon and what not.

But sadly they are still busy crying over how Halo 4 should be a clone of Halo 3 and how the story of Halo Reach should be declared non-canon.

It's just about all they do, their forums are filled with whining and complaining.

Normally I would just ignore the idiots in the community but everyone has decided to join them. It's almost impossible to have a discussion there without getting flooded by them.

So what would you guys consider the worst level in all of Halo?

I know the Flood levels are particularly some of the most hated. I personally think the flood is a fun enemy to fight but many times the level layouts makes fighting them repetitive and mind numbing.

These are the levels I personally don't like.

Halo CE

The Library:

Just about every Halo fan hates this level and for good reason. The entire level is filled with identical rooms and scenarios. It's like playing the same level 3 times and can take 40 mind numbing minutes to complete. Every firefight is the same as the one encountered before. Once you pick up a shotgun that's all you'll use the rest of the level shooting Flood cannon fodder. This level's design is completely absurd. If there is one level that needs to be eradicated it is this one. Even the story behind the level could have been summed up in a shorter more reasonable level.

Two Betrayals:

This level is almost as absurd as The Library. Not only is it repetitive copy and paste Flood firefights that can take 30-40 minutes to complete but this time it is on the same ridiculously long battlefield you fought on 3 levels ago with a few minor changes. Especially with this level being directly after The Library you basically go "oh god not again". At least the Library was original, this is just back tracking through one of the longest levels but this time with Flood everywhere.

Keyes:

You know I actually enjoy the close quarters Flood/Covenant firefights this level has but it went overboard when the Flood don't stop freaking re-spawning. Pushing through that one hallway is the only way to stop them from falling through the ceiling again and again. This level is bearable but many of the firefights are stupid and repetitive.

I'm not gonna name any Halo 2 levels as I found the design rather good. Even the Flood levels were enjoyable without being overly repetitive. Part of the reason Halo 2 is my favorite Halo game.

Halo 3

The Ark:

Not too many people regard this level as bad but I do. Other than that I feel the level looked particularly bad I found the vehicular gameplay to be rather bad. The design made everything pretty clunky and with the physics of the vehicles you find yourself running into that wall or falling off that ledge and having to drive back around a bit too often. The end of the level was pretty fun though. I would have preferred this level to be close quarters building fights over the large vehicle battles.

Cortana:

Here's another ridiculous Flood level. Halo 3 Flood was much more interesting to fight than Halo CE flood but the level design and a few enemy types made this level annoying. The big issue was the confusing layout. A large circular room with paths that lead up to the top is an interesting idea but when you make every path look the same and gives strange upward angles to them it makes the players end up circling the same area lost and then not even remembering which side they came from. The Flood ranged forms were just stupid enemies as well. Not only are they all over the ceiling shooting down at you but they take little damage from precision weapons. You then end up back tracking through the level this time getting ear raped by explosions and alarms <.<

I can only really remember the missions from 3, odst and reach.

In halo 3 my least favourite was Cortana, where you go into the flood ship. I don't usually mind fighting the flood but the forms that climb up on the walls and shoot spikes were annoying as hell.

In ODST it was Data Hive. Most of it was ok but you ended having to fight loads of drones on a fairly open bridge.

In Reach I'm tempted to say Long night of solace, just because it got a bit boring but to be honest I loved it the first time, its just not as much fun to repeat as the others. There aren't a whole lot of missions in Reach that I don't like.

Most of my gripes are simply because I'm a terrible halo player, I have to stick to cover constantly and use sneak attacks even on normal. I can't aim to save my life :(

So I finished Glasslands... I don't know what to think of the end, I read the last 2 pages about 3 times and still can't come up with a strong conclusion to it.

As for my least liked levels I'll go game by game (minus Halo:Wars).

Halo: Combat Evolved - The Library due to how it took me 3 hours to beat. Back then I didn't know you had to get rid of the heads for the flood to not reanimate so a lot of the time they came back only to loose an arm. Let's not forget how after some firefights one had no clue where he was anymore or which was the right way.

Halo 2 - None, all were great designs.

Halo 3 - The Storm only because when fighting the AA Wraiths they did literary nothing except for the brutes manning the turrets also the way you have to end the level felt like it could have been better than SHOOT GIANT GLOWING THING.

Halo: ODST - Tayari Plaza, the fight with the hunters plus all the brutes and jackals was a bit annoying in that you're not really given proper weapons to combat them.

Halo: Reach - The Package, I hate that level with a passion! Just way too long as a level and on harder difficulties it becomes too much unless in Co-op.

I hope not...

Also those graphics look mediocre at best.

Console users on the Halo forum are freaking out about it though.

Ew...

The graphics don't seem that good.

Doesn't look too much different from Reach actually.

Maybe that means they spent more time on the actually gameplay?

If so that would be nice... you can only recycle the same boring game play so many times!

If the game is just a copy of Reach or H3 then I will probably opt out of this one.

Now now lets not start a flame war.

Halo isn't amazing by no stetch of the word. But its better than most FPS's out on todays market. The only reason It was made popular was due to Its easy difficulty curve, Halo is a casual Doom or quake game basically. But Yet Its still popular basically because of one simple principle.

"A lie told often enough becomes the truth."

If enough people stand firmly by Halo screaming its magnificence it will always be magnifient in the eyes of the public. despite contrary evidenve.

True art is impossible to define, one mans treasure is another mans trash. Halo whether you love it or not was one of the most influental games that defined the fps genre. Halo spawned something like 10 novels, board games, several comic runs, a movie, and many other things if that is not noteworthy for a video game then what is?

I'm not saying it's bad. I'm saying it's popularity comes through it's fanbase being adament that it's brilliant when It's not. Granted it's good and I personally enjoyed Reach but I enjoyed it as much as I do any fps. Halo is a shooter. thats the fact of the matter and shooters will never be "Amazing" or "Breathetaking".Only so much can be done with a gun and a one man army before it gets stale.

so im guessing that by your logic youve never been blown away by a fps? the beautifull enviroments in halo 3, the nuke going off in COD? What about the cake is a lie? Halo is the only reason that xbox is what it is right now and microsoft would be the first to tell you

For starters. Though Portal is done through first person it is a puzzle platformer

Secondly. COD is THE MOST OVERRATED GAME EVER! period.

Thridly. No, FPS's just don't have that feeling like its an experience. Most shooters to me feel like interactive movies. The multiplayer is fun but I never judge a game on It's multiplayer as that would be like judging a book on it's ability to bludgen someone to death.

Amazing scenery is good but that doesn't make a game amazing. Plus the nuke was nice but they over did it in the next two because it felt like it was expected. there was no shock value in the Airport.

Looks god to me.

Also the graphics look fine and are obviously better than Reach.

It reminds me a lot of When Gears 2 was announced.

Everyone complained it looked the same but the games put side to side you can see the difference.

Cortana

Data Hive

Long night of solace

Most of my gripes are simply because I'm a terrible halo player, I have to stick to cover constantly and use sneak attacks even on normal. I can't aim to save my life :(

I can agree with Cortana. I quite enjoyed Data Hive, the close quarters firefights were very good. The Drone portion was a bit annoying but a carbine can gun all whole swarm of Drones down rather quickly.

LNoS was a fun level, though it's not my favorite to replay completely. I feel the space battle should have been it's own level, because of that I usually start at a later Rally Point just to skip that part.

Don't worry about not being good, you'll get it eventually. Took me a while to become good at Halo.

Not to mention video games are for fun, so it's fine as long as you are having fun :)

Halo CE:The Library definitely was bad in that sense but from what you said it seems like you were aiming for the head to take down the Flood combat forms. Their heads are just about useless, you need to aim for the infection form in their chest which basically acts as their brain.

Halo 2: level design was definitely some of the best. I do believe the level designer of Halo 2 is with 343 Industries which is a plus sign for Halo 4.

Halo 3: I found the Storm a fun level. The part you are referring is one of the more scripted parts of a Halo level. Though the Wraiths actually do fire at the Hornets in the sky and if it's an unlucky day some destroyed Hornet may just fall down on you ;)

ODST: Tayari Plaza, yes that level was a bit annoying at first. They do not start you off with the best weapons but they do have Shotguns and Carbines hidden around the level that make fighting Hunters and Jackals incredibly easy.

Reach: The Package is one of my favorite levels. It is one of the longest but all the firefights are well designed.

As for difficulty, that can definitely be one of the hardest. Though once you learn the speed run tactics the only part where you will find great difficulty is the final battle against the Zealots.

This is a good reason to bump this thread
