Rofl really ? No it's a derivation of the word "bête" witch mean a lot of different thing '(i'll let you google trad it), one of the definition means idiot, silly, dumb. And bêbête is a more kind way of saying it, it's even more affectionate word than an insult. It all depend of the context and the tone you're using ^^
