Superstitions and OCD

DaReaper

Recommended Posts

First sorry if someone made a post about this as my forum search function seems to be broke.

Do you have any superstitions you follow or certian things you gotta do bèfore something can be done?

As for me I got a blind bag Merry May pony from a girl I work with and when i brought it home I found $200 I forgot about, so it's my lucky charm now.

As fir OCD i gotta make sure my rack is set up right before I can start baking or I go nuts

Everything must be clean for me...get this, everytime I see something messy in my room, my insides will feel like they're burning. I obviously lose a lot of sleep over this. My DVD's and Video Games are all organized alphabetically as well. I MUST have music playing for hours as background music or else I will feel anxious, it's odd. Even my friend brought up how I ALWAYS have music playing. Also, usually, whenever I wake up, I stay up, no matter how much sleep I received.

Cleanliness is my OCD. It doesn't matter how clean or organized my room is, if I see the tiniest speck of dust or the smallest thing out of order, I go on a cleaning frenzy. Everything needs to be perfect. My room is my tiny slice of heaven and I want to make sure it stays clean and heavenly.

I don't have a lucky charm or anything of the sort.

Personally, I don't believe in any superstitions. However, I do have a little of OCD...

When walking up stairs, my right foot has to reach the top first, and when walking down stairs, my left foot has to reach the bottom first. When having meals, I tend to leave the best (most favourite dishes) for the last. Order is also pretty important, I guess... (Can't think of others at the moment.  :derp:)

When I was younger, I used to have a compulsion to 'take my glasses off' before showering even though I had already taken them off.

Yup, that's the weird me.  :derp:

I have to stack all of my games in alphabetical order. With the exception of the PS3 games I don't play.

I also used to have this thing whereby whenever I did something on one side of my body, i'd also have to do it on the other side. I still do it sometimes.

oh my, I have OCD when it comes to arrangement of things.

it could be doing some graphic work on my computer or even setting the table.

if there is a picture on the plate, the picture MUST be straight.

and books?

don't get me started on books!

everything must be in order.

and when I park my car, my tires MUST be straight and I must have my car parked in a box.

a few days ago, I saw a parking space and for the life of me, I thought all the cars are parked slanted.

but when i got out of the car, i saw that the parking space is straight, not slanted.

got back into my car, drove out.

Ehehe.

CDs must be in alphabetical order.

things must be arranged in a perfect manner.

ehehehe..

bad case, I know XD

My game collection is organized alphabetically.

The dishes must be loaded into the dishwasher or put away in the cupboards a certain way (I will go out of my way to rearrange them).

My morning and evening routines can not be disturbed, anything that disturbs routine can throw me off for a week.

My work space must be set up a specific way.

I dress according to a set formula, every day.

I have been compared to Sheldon from Big Bang Theory many times...

First of all, I'm not at all superstitious, I am quite sceptical about all these legends which never happen.

And... nope, I'm not thinking about any OCD at the moment. I usually procrastinate and my working space is never neat. I terribly hate routines, but the stuff is usually all organized in my head. I once had a huge panic attack because my mother bought too much stuff for school.

But well, if I think about anything I'll post it here.

OCD is what you speak of? I used to have a severe case of it when I was little. The lights had to be flickered on and off again, I washed my hands every two seconds, I rubbed myself after being touched, and so on. It was horrible.

Today, I guess I have to say that I need to have the sheets aligned with the blanket on my bed when I sleep. I hate it when the sheets reach my neck.

Oh, I found something...

Well, for my OCD, when something doesn't make the sound I expected, for exemple clicking on the mouse, taping on the keyboard or closing the lights, I feel weird and do it again until it makes the sound I want.

So I often find myself doing a repetitive sound again and again, and it's not really nice for others.

And I have no idea why I do that.

Even my friend brought up how I ALWAYS have music playing. Also, usually, whenever I wake up, I stay up, no matter how much sleep I received.

I am almost exactly like this. Except my DVD's and Games are organized chronologically. And the music I usually play is some dubstep so my subwoofers aren't just sittin there all lazily :P

As for a lucky charm I have a pair of black fingerless gloves that I like to wear whenever I go biking or on a road trip or something. Whenever I wear them on a bike ride I never get stopped by traffic (crossing roads and such). When I wear them on a road trip there's never any heavy traffic, and very few red lights... I don't know how the gloves work but I love them :3

Another thing is that if something doesn't right (mainly speakers, such as tv speakers and laptop speakers), I'll stop and play something on it to see if it'll fix itself. If it doesn't, I plug in actual speakers so it sounds right. And it doesn't matter if I'm at my house or someone elses, I still do it.

Another thing is that if one of my friends' DVD/Game collection is missing movie/game cases or has the case but no disc, or is organized wrong, I'll fix it.

Idk if it's just me or not, but some of these things freak me out sometimes...
