Cirque Du Freak Book Series

Hey everybody. So I'm curious to know if any of you have heard of or read the Cirque Du Freak series. Let me just say I LOVED it That was a breath of fresh air after my friend made me read the Twilight books and I just got annoyed of vampires. This series deals with vampires but done right. 

 

The movie adaptation though was very disappointing I mean it was good but it released too much info that's shown in the later books, and they changed things up alot from what I was used to. I liked seeing Josh Hutchinson but besides that not much really impressed me

 

So what do you guys think? Have you read this series or seen the movie? Leave your thoughts on it below.

I haven't read or seen the movie. I have heard of the movie and planned on watching it, but never got around to it. After looking up the books, I'd say that it looks pretty interesting so I will probably add it to my "to read" list. But, that list is getting long so I'm not sure if I will ever get to it. It looks appealing, so I might bump it up a bit. And any-vampire related book would be better to read than Twilight, so...eh, I may give the books a shot.

I was introduced to the series by my best friend in the fifth grade.

 

I read all twelve books and thought they were awesome, the film had a lot of potential and while not terrible in my opinion-still fell horribly short of that potential.

 

Still, I'm glad there are still people around today who enjoy the series.

The books were awesome and I was introduced to them in the seventh grade by a friend

 

I agree, the movie wasn't terrible, it was actually decent but meh.

Ah wow, this takes me back. I have not seen the film, but I, too, loved the books. It has been a few years now, I must get around to buying them so I don't have to borrow them from the library.

Yeah you won't really miss anything huge if you don't watch the movie. You can decide to do it or not

 

It's been years since I've read them too, and I read the first part of Mr. Crepsley's saga of when he became a vampire. It was so good

Indeed it was, I especially like the twist at the end, but I definitely loved all of it.

 

Have you tried the Demonata books by the same author? You might enjoy those also.

Those books are just sublime. Well written, good characters, a nice mix of humor and comedy, and it's still a better love story than twilight!

I read the first 4 or 5 a few years ago, but I read all the plot details of the entire series on Wikipedia for whatever reason, and lost interest because I spoiled it. I did re-read the first one, last year I think.

Have you tried the Demonata books by the same author? You might enjoy those also.

 

Oh that twist was awesome It took me a while to understand all of it, and it was genius

I actually started the Demonata books before the Cirque Du Freak books, but they were not all out then, so I had to wait.

 

And I think I've said everything I can on this subject, so I'll stop cluttering up the thread.

Oh yeah the little romance they sprinkle in is so much better than Twilight It's sad though that things didn't work out.

The Cirque Du Freak books is one of the absolute best series I have ever read...PERIOD!! Seriously, their pretty much perfect...except for ONE part...but I'm not spoiling it for anyone...also, I HATE THE MOVIE WITH A BURNING PASSION!! The only book based movie that's even worse than the Cirque Du Freak movie, is the Eragon movie...*shivers*

 

Plus, you DO know that theirs a prequel to the books about Crepsly...right?

I do know about the prequel series. I read the first one Awesome

Yeah I got mad when they introduced the monkey girl. And about Debbie, spoilers for anyone who hasn't seen the movie or read the books

 

 

 

The whole thing with Debbie was cool because he had to find a way to tell her about all the vampire stuff and get her involved. But with the monkey girl, I forgot her name, it's stupid because she already knows and there's no real conflict. Plus I just don't like her. AND WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO TRUSKA?! Since when is she dating Mr. Crepsley Besides in the books she didn't speak English until later on. So stupid it made me facehoof

I loved the books so much! I haven't seen the movie, although movies are almost always worse than the books. The ending of the series was......unique to say the least.
