Lightning Bliss 1,674 September 24, 2013 Share September 24, 2013 (edited) I'm gonna burst with frustration.... I was looking up Ponycons for my area since I live in TX, USA, and there IS IN FACT one thats coming up called Nightmare Night, Convention Roundup in Dallas, TX. Thats a bit further north to me, about 4hrs drive and this convention is held from Nov 5th - 10th! The problem is, for like $45 at door attendance is kinda costly, even if its for a good cause, plus voice talent Andrea Libman (Voice talent of Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy) Brenda Crichlow (Voice talent of Zecora) AND Peter New (Voice talent of Big Macintosh) are gonna be there!!! But... I dont think I could make time for such a thing!!! I got a wedding to plan thats coming up this Dec, plus family plans for the holidays! Not to mention my nana (grandmother) is staying with us and she needs the companionship...gah...will I ever get to go to a convention?? Anyone here thats a HUGE pony fan like me but has never EVER been to a convention in his/her life? Its almost sad that I call myself a fan at all because I've never attended a convention...but I want to so badly!!! Edit: This is the details of the convention: https://nightmarenights.net/ Edited September 24, 2013 by Lightning Bliss 1 I'm just a silly little alicorn, trying to get by in the fandom ^^ The Lightning Bliss Show Lightning Bliss DevianArt

Edit: This is the details of the convention: https://nightmarenights.net/ Well it does suck that you are missing out, but really, 45$ isn't all that much, the Australian one I went to was something like $75 or more for the two days, granted it was the first one that Australia has had and all, but it really wasn't that crash hot, I am actually really considering going to next years one... money and all that.... Plus for a good portion of the time I was there, I was severely depressed and just... yeah... a few good friends got me out of it, but... yeah.. Smarts 1,623 September 24, 2013 Share September 24, 2013 I count among the people who have never been to a convention. I'd love to go, but two problems arise that make difficult for me to go. The first one is cash. It's not that big of a deal though. I could just pull some money together and that's that. My second problem though makes it impossible for me to go. Too many people. I hate being around large groups of people, so yeah. I'll never attend one even though I really want to. 1 IF is best girl.
Aisling Ink 195 September 24, 2013 Share September 24, 2013 Well I live in Italy and I tell you, there is never gonna be something like Bronycon here or any similar convention. The best I can do is watch the interview with the voice actors on youtube So let's put it this way, of course America is huge, but at some point you might be able to go for sure it might be expensive but never as much as having to take a airplane from Europe to America xD I hope this cheers you up at least a little bit My OC Aisling Ink
Friendship_Cannon 1,676 September 24, 2013 Share September 24, 2013 I Have never been to any convention for that matter... If Pony/ Brony, Anime or anything of that kind. And I´m extremely curious and excited for my first one (what will maybe be next years GalaCon, if I find enough other people from Germany or surrounding countries so I´m not going all by myself). Other than that you gotta set priorities, Bliss xD. Maybe you can even attend BronyCon, next year or so, when you save a bit of money early. That´s my plan, too... someday. xD Signature made by the amazing ~Harmonic Dreams~ I always pictured you as a cross between Demoman and Pinkie Pie for some reason. The Prime Reaper 180 September 24, 2013 Share September 24, 2013 I am even more frustrated that there is no ponycon near Southern California. I can only find them on the North which indicating to San Francisco. Many people said that Pony fandom is strong in California but i see there is only me as a MLP fan in my region. The last time, i attended anything to do with MLP convention was the San Diego Comic Con.

crazitaco 596 September 25, 2013 Share September 25, 2013 (edited) I think its safe to say a majority of bronies haven't been to a brony convention. that's because conventions are costly, involve a lot of planning/travel, and some bronies are still secretive about their bronyness and don't want others to know where they're going. in truth, its just too tedious for most people. i'm also from texas, south texas. dallas is an 8 hour drive for me, lol. as much as i would love to attend a brony convention, its pretty wishful thinking for me. even if the convention was in my own city, i probably wouldn't go because i'd have no one to go with. Antismurf9001 1,271 September 25, 2013 Share September 25, 2013 Yeah, I haven't been to a brony convention either. There's surprisingly few in this part of the northeast US. I'd go to a convention if I could somehow make sure that nobody that I knew was aware of it, which would involve it being in Boston and during the school year. It's not really a big dealt though, I still go to Connecticon which is pretty friendly towards bronies. Zygen 6,066 September 25, 2013 Share September 25, 2013 Eh, well i've never been to a con either. I'm a closet brony though, but my parents would never pay for it, or let me go. So i won't be going till i'm out the house. Oh well. Whatever. But yeah, it sucks :/. Sorry to hear dude. Thanks to Gone Airbourne for the awesome sig! Lightning Bliss 1,674 September 25, 2013 Author Share September 25, 2013 Thanks for the replies and support first off guys! Second ya after rethinking about prices, in theory of what I make ya theres no issue there in going to a con easily moneywise but it has also been an issue with timing and of course location location location. This Nightmare Night con seems to be rather low hosted (not as big as your typical bronycons) but its being hosted for a noble cause of saving money for hospitals against certain forms of women cancar. That alone motivates me to want to go more then anything. Again its 4hrs away by car for me giver take, the problem is though is its timing...I'm getting married in Dec, I had little time to plan for it as it is, like 6months barely, well more like 2 months considering I had to stop planning because I had to fly out to Germany to be with my fiance through immigration proceedings. (Before anyone goes off in saying 'why dont you fly out to Germany or AUS again for a convention then?' its simple... IM NOT MADE OF MONEY!!! Flying here and back with my fiance to and from Germany nearly crippled me in my savings account, flying overseas again just to go to a con in Germany, AUS or even in the northern states of USA is just redicolous. Flight rates have gone up dramastically that it seems only the filthy rich are able to pour money out on flights like that.) Soon as me and my fiance fly back its immediatly back to more immigration proceedings, getting our wedding certificates, filing for his green card etc, teaching him my countries ways, laws, economy etc. Plus planning out the wedding with my matrion of honor, and to top off some family situations my nana has moved in with us due shes not doing very well and will need my support when others are out of the house. (Everyone works in my family, thanks to a stupid rough economy in the states, I gotta pull my weight too). Its madness... So at this point I've come to accept that I'll miss this convention but there will always be more! Me and my fiance even agreed that one day we will have to take a big road trip to a convention at some point, whether that be a ponycon (which he would NOT attend hes not a brony) or a scifi convention which I really would like to go to, usually I hear they are held mostly in Los Angelos or NY. So ya...I hate the idea missing another convention...but... as Rarity said when she cut off her tail and gave it to a serpent in Season 1 'It will grow back' so will the conventions come back too. MLP certaintly does help remind me of the morals hehe. I'm just a silly little alicorn, trying to get by in the fandom ^^ The Lightning Bliss Show Lightning Bliss DevianArt
