Lucid stared at his hoofs, "Lucid... huh?"

Lucid smiled and began to calm down. He quietly thanked her. He began to trust this group, not completely, but he hopefully thought that perhaps he might have had a friend from the past, and would be able to remember something, eventually.

@,

(nah, not necessary) Suddenly, Mael opened her eyes and looked at her non-pony friend observantly. She had apparently slept again as they traveled to wherever they were. The mare felt much better, surprisingly rejuvenated. As though she had never been hurt in the first place, Mael sat up and proceed to eat and drink the food, only to realize the shock of how such things were found. One of the wounded areas on Mael began to itch profusely, causing her to bring her hoof up to scratch it...These things are getting annoying...Casually, Mael began taking off the wraps, amazingly revealing that there were no longer any type of hurt, not even a scar. She then looked up shyly to Granite, "I wanted to thank you once more sir...Because of you, I'm still alive. If you had only arrived sooner..." The memories of her friends who were consumed before her eyes flashed through her head.

@@Frosty V,

"Alright, the best thing to do is head to the 'Safe Haven'. The place is not far from here. All we have to do is follow this little tunnel and, BAM,  we are there" Guardian said. "But that can wait, we need to make sure everypony is okay before we even move." he rubbed the bruise that formed on his head after the impact from the shock wave.

Muddle couldn't agree more, she shook her head in agreement again and slowly stood up. At first it was quite painful, but as she continued to stand the pain sub-sided. She accomplished this without so much as a whine, or yelp of pain... Then she slowly started to trott over to Lucid; until she was directly in front of his face. She stared at him intently. Then she smiled and said, "HI."

Shadow jumped and nearly fell out of the tree it was in. Whatever had occurred before could be forgotten. Now what bothered it was this weird echoing 'Hi' that it heard in it's head. "It... didn't sound... right?"

Frost nodded at Gaurdian, "I agree, but we need to make sure everypony is good to go quick.....I don't wanna be around here when things start to get rough." he muttered as he turned his gaze so it fell on Lucid and Muddle, "where did they come from? They have no idea what's going on or what happened......they could just have lost extensive memory or.......time travel?" he thought aloud, rubbing his chin.

Granite was startled at the mare's seemingly instant recovery, taking a step back out of reflex.  Despite his opinions on the matter, he couldn't help but remember what Avaron had called her.  Pale...  The golem nods his head, somewhat unsure about his situation.

"You should not thank me yet, 'Master'."  He puts extra stress on the title, hoping she would be sharp enough to pick up on the act.  He still didn't know if he was being observed yet or not.  While his passive stone features had been a boon when speaking with Avaron, Granite now found himself wishing he could make some kind of expression to clue her in.

Doing the only thing he can think of, Granite shifts his weight so that his supplies fall to the floor.  The armlet that Avaron had given him rolls out of his pack, and Granite makes sure that she can get a good look at it.

Hopefully she'll know what it is...  Come on, say the words.  Order me to tell you what happened...  He was going to try and keep this act going as long as he could, for her sake at least.  He wanted to hear the mare's side of things...  And there was a small amount of motivation in the golem that he never would have expected.

Granite was pissed.  It hadn't occurred to him at first, but now that his encounter with Avaron was done the thoughts were starting to bubble up in him.  The demon had manipulated him, left him with no choice but what Avaron desired.  For the first time in any of his memories Granite had his own will, and Avaron was taking away his option to choose.  And the more the golem thought about it, the stronger those thoughts became...

Mael suddenly grew curious and paused her eating, sizing Granite up and noticing the device that rolled out carelessly from his bag...Master?..."I don't know why you're calling me that sir but I prefer that you don't. You aren't my servant..." Casually, the mare put down an apple she was eating and left the sofa before trotting slowly to Granite. She then gave him a forced smile, trying to hold in her sadness, "You are my friend. I owe you a lot for what you did..." Calmly, she put her hoof upon Granite's should, then in a flash she flipped him over her head to the ground on the other side of her...He's helping the demon. He has to be. Why else would he have that device or be acting so different?...As immediately as Granite hit the ground, Mael had pounced upon him to prevent him from moving with unpony-like strength. "What did you and the demon do to me?! I'm as dumb as I look you know! What's that device?! Speak!" she yelled demandingly.

While Granite hadn't actually been hurt by the sudden take down, he was surprised at how strong the mare seemingly was.  Rather than attempt to fight back the golem chose to lay passively, still trying to keep the act going.  It was a demand - that's close enough.  I can work with that.

"Upon the time you lost consciousness, 'Master', I sought to find medical attention for you.  The one called Avaron left me with little choice but to follow, carrying your prone form myself."  He continued to use the title despite what she had said before, hoping that she would catch on to the act.

"I did what I could to treat your wounds with a medical kit once the one called Avaron lead us to a place called the Inferno.  The door sealed behind my hooves, and in return for letting us go he demanded that I do what I can to learn the weaknesses of the ones called 'Pale'."

At this point Granite turns his head to look at her, the pale flames flickering calmly behind his gemstone eyes.  "The one called Avaron believed that you would lead me to these 'Pale'.  I tried to inform the demon that a golem cannot perform any act that could harm his 'Master', yet I do not believe he cared about my physical limitations."  He again stresses the word Master, hoping that she would understand that he was trying to use the word as a shield for her.  As long as that bluff is going, I don't have to worry about being forced to act against her...

"As for the device, Avaron claimed it to be a type of weapon.  I thought it wise to not put it to use unless necessary."

Mael's anger had calmed a little as Granite revealed to her what had happened. She knew it was unwise to trust him but...why shouldn't she? The stone pony did save her after all...and that would explain all the bandages. The mare listened keenly, absorbing every word the pony said and humorously smirked when he mentioned carrying her all over the place; however, her eyes hardened when he mentioned the inferno and the Pale. Once he had moved on to the part where he had fibbed to Avaron, Mael nodded understandingly, "So you are calling me that to give you an excuse not to hurt me huh? And you really think I'm one of these...'Pale?'" Mael glanced over to the armlet and briefly wondered if that was what Avaron had given Granite to hurt her or torture her with. "I have no idea what you're talking about...and stop calling me Master!" She was bluffing of course...but even still she remained unwavering as she glared into Granite's fiery eyes, forgetting that she still sat atop him, barring him down.

Granite looks at Mael and actually smiles, an obviously sarcastic tone coming to his voice as he speaks again.  "Is there another title you would prefer to be called, 'Master'?"  The golem grins, still not trying to resist against the mare.  He wasn't sure he could get up if he tried, but there was no point in struggling at the moment.  "And I must confess, that is unfortunate.  The demon called Avaron left this one with little choice but to obey or become unmade.  He had seemed quite convinced about you, 'Master'.  If you claim the demon was wrong, than this one is left with no other leads."

Well, his bluff wasn't going quite like he had hoped.  The mare had seemed to catch on to what he was attempting, though she didn't seem willing to help his lie...  Granite was already coming up with a plan B, just in case.  And a plan C, and a plan D.  The golem liked being prepared.

The mare was again annoyed and bopped Granite's muzzle,"Mael, my name is Mael. Call me that...but not master," she stated deliberately. "That makes you sound like a slave pony." Mael wasn't so sure about the stone pony, wondering if it even had a sense of free will...or if it was merely just a pawn. Either way, she wasn't going to help that demon, Avaron, but she didn't want to hint Granite towards any direction or assumption...still warily attempting to decipher want his 'true' intentions were. "I'm sorry sir...but there's not much I can do to help you. If you intend to help that thing, you will have to do it alone," Mael said, purposely affirming her position on the matter.

Granite gives a small sigh.  This hadn't gone as well as he could have hoped, but he had somewhat expected as much.  Things never worked out in the golem's favor.

"Be that as it may...  Mael...  But there is little I can do either way with you sitting on me like this."  It was starting to seem like he was going to have to fall back on one of his other plans the longer this conversation went on.  The only part of that he was somewhat upset with was going to be being unable to tell anyone what his goal would be.

His goal for now had been accomplished, though.  The act had gone well enough that he could still use the 'Master' claim to justify being unable to hurt the mare.  Despite his current position of being pinned to the floor, he couldn't help but remember the helpless pony he had carried on his back.

Mael looked at Granite blankly for a second as what he had mentioned calibrated in her head, then with a slight eye twitch, she leapt off him and eyed him awkwardly. The mare couldn't help but feel bad for how cruelly she had said what she did. Then, looking away, she apologized to the golem pony, "I'm sorry...I don't mean to be so difficult...It's just, how am I supposed to believe you aren't one of 'them' or have the intentions of doing something bad?" It was hard for her to be tender with her voice, because she believed it showed how weak she really felt on the inside. Mael tried looking back at him sternly and wrinkling her muzzle in an attempt to override any notion of her being such.

Granite carefully picked himself back up, standing back up to return her stare.  "You can't."  He wanted to say more.  He wanted to tell her that they were most likely being watched right now, that the demon was manipulating him, that the only thing on Granite's mind was revenge.  But of course, he couldn't.  One word out loud and Avaron would know.

"But...  You can keep in mind that I found you before the demon did.  And that I could have left you to the demons had I desired."

Mael squinted her eyes sternly as she acted like she was seeing right into the stone stallion's soul. Then, with a slight sigh, she closed her eyes and shook her head, "I guess trusting you is the least I can do for that. I still owe you one...just," The mare looked up to Granite pleadingly, "don't make me regret it...I've been betrayed by enough ponies than I can count." The words had little emotion behind them but still retained all their meaning. Suddenly, with a quick change in demeanor, Mael turned towards the barracaded door. "I guess we should be headed out then? Unless you can think of somewhere better, I know of a place that should keep us safe...er, for as long as the demons and Pale don't overrun it." The mare hadn't thought about what she was going to say before she spoke and flinched a little at her revelation of knowing what the Pale were. She hoped Granite hadn't acknowledged that part.

The golem nods slowly at her suggestion, moving to the barricaded door and kicking the blockade aside with a swift movement of his stone hooves.  He had caught her small slip, but he was willing to pretend as though he didn't.  Throughout his long years as a servant, Granite had learned when it was better to keep his mouth shut.

He does pause for a moment to pick up the demonic armlet, placing it back with the rest of his meager supplies.  It was a potential weapon - despite the source of the armlet, it could save their lives depending on what they encountered.  He still wasn't willing to put it on just yet, but he wasn't about to leave it behind.

"You will not regret your decision.  I have no desire to see you come to harm."  It was true - right now the only one he desired to harm was Avaron.  Granite was still somewhat surprised at himself for how much having his free will taken away was enraging him.  He never really noticed it before, not until he actually had the power to make his own decisions after all these years.  "I shall follow your lead to this 'safe haven'.  You may decide what you wish to do about me there, if you are still unsure."

Granite's comment caused Mael to stare at him, dumbly annoyed by his utter straightforwardness. "You really are just a giant boulder aren't ya? You know there's not much room in this world for you 'selfless' types. You need to think for yourself for once," she muttered to him irritatedly. He'd be all to common for a demon...or maybe a Pale? Mael quickly shook the thought of the latter from her head. With a slight nudge of her right hoof, Mael pushed the door open and proceed out into the destroyed landscape, a small breeze brushing against her blue and white mane. She then looked up to the sky to find the real sun: the blood red one. Quickly identifying it and finding north, the mare looked to Granite once more, "It's actually not hard to find but you just need to know where to look." Then, with a firm hoof forward, she began to walk deeper into the wreckage of Las Pegasus.

He forces himself to shut up - talking like that was going to ruin his 'mindless servant' disguise.  You're a moving statue, act like a statue and shut up for once!  He makes his voice go back to the somewhat boring tone he had been using before as he opens his mouth again.  "Erm...  And you feel that you can trust this one with the knowledge of what to look for?  This one is glad to have earned that much."
