I don't understand the hype for Discord. I don't like him much and thought he was a pathetic villain. He was way too arrogant and stupid. How did he not notice that the Mane 6 weren't gray anymore? He could've killed all the Mane 6 with a snap of his fingers but squandered it. I understand Discord somewhat as he wanted them to suffer but he had no excuse when they stood in front of him for a good minute and he didn't notice how different they were acting.  He was able to easily take away the unicorn's horns and the Pegasus's wings. He does that easily for the sake of a game then gives them back afterwards, flawless logic.  Which brings up another point, why did Discord let them try the Elements with a bulls-eye on his chest?! That was a huge gamble which he was lucky worked. Notice how the Elements all float up except for Spike? That means if Rainbow had been there, Discord would have been done. Final mistake, he hid the elements in a book in Twilight's library instead of a black hole or the core of the planet. Had he done that... he would have been invincible.

I don't think his goal was ever to kill anypony. I honestly don't really think him that much of a villain, but rather a troll. He's mostly just bored.

If I had to describe how badass Discord is on a scale of 1-10, I think I would have to say he is somewhere between purple and north. Loki of the Æsir is awesome, Loki of Marvel, not so much. Discord is awesome because he's not evil, he's just a prankster out for a chuckle or two.

Yeah I agree with Troblems that he's not really a villain and is much more aptly understood as a troll. Every villain makes it easy for them to be beaten, which is just the nature of the show. It's to consistent to not be planned that the bad guys must lose by the end of the episode(s).

 

Anybody my age or who was alive in the 80s would remember the A-Team. Nobody ever died, no matter how many bullets were flying and the A-Team always beat the bad guys before the episode was over. Classic TV memes.
