gaming Stealth Video Games

Does anypony here play stealth video games like Thief, Deus Ex, Dishonored, Splinter Cell and Metal Gear Solid, do you like the game play of sticking to the shadows trying to remain unseen or unheard or do you find it too frustrating.. honestly i like the concept of getting through an area without killing anybody it creates an interesting challenge though i do like the games like Dishonored and Deus Ex human Revolution that offer you choices and different ways to get into an area.

I also like the stealth concept in the Batman Arkham series, there you have to be quick but also stealthy in a way though you can defeat enemies directly but that is usually a bad idea

Stelth games can be very fun, Metal Gear Solid for sure and there were some stealth missions in SOCOM 4 that were fun as hell even assassins creed at time. They can get too fustrating at times though when if you get caught and games ovet

I like the Metal Gear Solid games with MGS3 being my favourite.

I also like the Tenchu games as well, was abit miffed that the ps3 didn't get Tenchu Z.

My favourite one is tenchu 2 for the ps1. I still have a copy of the game and i play it on my ps3. ^^

Personally was never a fan of Stealth games. More often than not I'm a guns blazing play style so it can be a pain in the butt to adapt.

I will say however I lost count of how many times I played through Dishonored. I ADORE that game. Splinter Cell: Conviction was good but really the only Splinter Cell I liked

I am a ginormous Metal Gear Solid fanatic with Snake Eater being my favorite as well, and most of the time, stealth elements in games tend to be very enjoyable for me

The Arkham games were amazing. I couldn't really get into stealthy games but Arkham Asylum and Arkham City made me want to play more like Metal Gear and such, Great games.

Stealth games are fun but they are also insanely annoying sometimes. I do enjoy some of them.

I played first Deus ex and used a lot stealth (I sure do love using melee).

I really like Splinter Cell: Conviction too.

I would like to add Assassin's Creed to but I don't really consider Assassin's Creed as a stealth game. I think AC series really lack stealth. I mean I only played the first one but as far as I can see, they usually lack stealth. Not really my cup of tea.

I also remember playing Death to spies, really nice game but has some really hard missions and has a rather annoying gameplay.

Maybe Commandos could be considered as a stealth game too. I like that game very much.

And actually, my favorite game of all time could be considered a stealth game too. Hitman!

I like games that give the option of stealth but not those that require it. Like a lot of the missions in the Splinter Cell games you would just outright fail if you were seen. No questions asked. Game Over. But that being said I really love how Metal Gear Solid took on the stealth aspect of the genre for giving enough leeway where you weren't totally screwed if you WERE seen, by throwing manageable enforced resistance against you. (And giving every guard the memory of a fish)

You might like Hitman series then. Except Hitman 2 - Silent Assassin. In that game stealth is the only way, especially on the hardest difficulty. Well, actually it usually seems that you really need to use stealth in hardest difficulty in most games because you know, shootouts could be really intense and punishing.

However, you don't need to go fully rampage, you can take a rather stealthy way. It's all up to you. As long as you planned your actions well, it should be ok.

On topic: Yep, I love Metal Gear Solid. I personally love games like that, games that make you think and strategize about how to approach a new situation. The Batman games do this great as well. And as Aniki said, they aren't insanely unfair about it, which is awesome. It gives the player more freedom. There really needs to be more great games of this genre.

How the bloody hell did I forget hitman? That is a good game series too. Hitman 2 is my favourite, especially that level in russia where you can walk about in the snow, loved the bgm on that lvl :)

I really like that too. I will usually go stealth but won't give up if I make a mistake and expose my cover. Then I will go for plan B img-1379355-5-xtWXQl1.png

You know I'd always considered buying a Hitman game but I just never have... I was never sure just how prominent the stealth was in those games as to whether I'd enjoy it. Reckon I'll have to check it out.

Edit: Okay... it seems I actually own Hitman Absolution for the PS3. Still in the package... wow. (When you know you've started buying games for the sake of owning them)

I suppose now that I think about it, it only seems a LITTLE ridiculous when they go right back to not giving a buck even when their friends are lying dead all around them. Boy I had fun messing with some of those guards.

Absolution is a really nice game in my opinion and you can go both ways, just don't pick a really advanced difficulty like purist.

I also have to say that this game is actually argued very often about. I haven't fully played the game yet but I think I liked it, but still, many "loyal" fans think that this game is really bad and it killed some of the vital elements the other games had. I'm just saying that it could be different from the other games. It has a new feature called instinct and usually arguments are based on that. ( And also checkpoint system )

I love stealth games. Especially sniping.

I loved Deus Ex and the Hitman Series.silencers and dressing up to get past security and stuff. It was fun. Even though I'd sometimes still kill everyone with my Silenced pistol.....

Yeah, Stealth games are fun, I've played at least a couple of Splinter Cell and MGS games to know that. Stealth portions in games like the Forsaken Fortress in Zelda the Wind Waker can be great as well, not to mention that in fact there are a ton of games where you can be somewhat stealthy once in a while to creep past or get a sneaky kill, I find stuff like that immensely satisfying. ^_^

^ Got that Steam achievement for Dishonored. As you might guess, it required a completely stealthy play-through as well.

Also, I'm tying to play through Splinter Cell Blacklist with the Ghost play-style- non-lethal and stealthy. On the missions where you have to hold down an area against waves of hostiles, I'll try to play Panther (lethal, stealthy) but I will go loud if necessary.

P.S. Yes, that is a screenshot from my Steam profile. I actually got that achievement- didn't just copy it from Google Images. =w=

It seems that most people think Hitman and Metal Gear Solid are the only stealth games that exist :P

No love for Manhunt? That was a very stealth based game. The one feature I really enjoyed was that your heartbeat changed according to your situation, if an enemy was close to you, your heartbeat would beat faster and vice versa.

Another great stealth game (that is on the lighter side) is No One Lives Forever. While it's not strict stealth, the more stealth you do, the better your rank is in the game.

Oh. I forgot Hitman. Yeah, went for Silent Assassin on every mission in Absolution but I didn't always get it.

There's not a lot of stealth in Assassin's Creed- not until AC III and AC IV...at least there's not a lot of incentive to be stealthy, as you can beat the pulp out of anyone if they spot you.

No one mentioned The Last Of Us? Wowimg-2006448-1-blink.png

Now I would.

The Last Of Us is a stealth game, though with most cases you can go with direct combat, albeit making things more difficult, which is the same with the Assassin's Creed series; you CAN fight in open conflict, only you'll fail optional objectives and lose full synchronization, which is usually used to unlock achievements or obtain outfits.

Really, in Assassin's Creed 3, at least 20% of your synchronization comes from remaining undetected (sometimes getting to one place within a time limit), limiting lethal kills, and/or air assassinations.

There are times in which I love stealth games, and there are times in which I loath them. For about 80% I stick to shadows, but there are still those times in which I feel the need to just go nuts! After a bit, you just crave a little excitement! You know?

Strange. I played through ACIII mostly in high-profile and didn't have any issues with synchronization.

"Where's Silas?" never came though.

Oh well, Assassin's Creed III, like Hitman Absolution, was just so...exhausting that I can't motivate myself to play through it again.
