Charcoal starter laughing at the little joke Lee was doing on the Black Legion pony. She found this hilarious. Why couldn't all ponies be this funny? "That... is... awesome." She said to herself between fits of laughter. She had never meet someone this funny.

"I'm tellin' ya, it's just Sunny," the mare laughed, "And I'm for sure that this here adventure wouldn't be the same without ya either...Mister Sentinel." Sunny smiled widely at her tease before shwishing and combing back her mane to keep it from frizzing, her rapier jingling against her flank. "So what's the plan here? I kinda...wasn't payin' much attention to what we're supposed to be doin' heheh" she asked innocently.

In another flash of green, Lee went back to his unicorn form. He smiled and nodded, impressed that Jaeger had been able to keep his name straight after all the shifting he'd been doing. "Yeah, that's me. And you said you're Jaeger right?" He felt a bit disappointed not at being able to make the Black Legion pony at least chuckle, but he quickly felt his disappointment disappear when Charcoal started laughing her head off. He quickly bowed in her direction and said "Thank you, thank you! I'll be here...well...for a while!" He glanced back at Jaeger, hoping to get some kind of reaction, but not really expecting one. "Anyways, Jaeger? Was it? You all preped for the mission?"

Charcoal finally got herself to stop laughing and stood back up. She wiped the tears from her eyes and walked up to the rest of the ponies. She stood beside Lee, but a bit further back from the rest of the ponies. She wasn't really one for talking to others.

Jaeger kept his half smile, he was amused by the ponies effort to make him laugh, if he had been anypony else, he naught have been on the floor laughing his guts out. "Yes my name is Jaeger, I'm surprised you remembered...with the small amount of social interactions I've had today." he said rolling his eyes in a joking matter. "Yes I'm prepped and ready to go....are you....I'm not familiar with everyone's skill set here...what's yours?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.

Lee thought for a moment before answering Jaeger's question. "I'm kind of an all around pony. My ability to shape shift gives me an edge most don't have. I can turn in to stallions that I've seen before that are a lot stronger and more resilient then me, allowing me to be more of a brute or heavy hitter, though I usually go for stealth and deception. Since I can sense what others are feeling and shape change accordingly, I am usually in recon, though I do assassination missions as well. Usually though, I'm the one that scales the wall, hides in the shadows, puts a knife in the guard's back, then opens the gate to let our army inside." As he said all of this, he kept a straight face. He wasn't sure how Charcoal would react to hearing this information about him, though he was sure Jaeger would be able to take it in stride. "What about you? What do you do?"

Charcoal looked at Lee with a fascinating look in her eyes. She was getting to know more about Lee and she liked that. She stayed silent as she listened, absorbing the information she had and piecing it together in her own way. That is how her mind worked.

Jaeger nodded as he listened to Lee, staying silent and deadly was his way of doing things, but not so often. "Me? Well let's see. I prefer tactics...I have not one major skill set they are all minor. If a situation calls for stealth...then I use stealth, calls for force, force is used, if the situation calls for long range, I use long range and do on and so forth. You get it?" he asked

Lee nodded. They were two griffons of a feather. He smirked. "You and I seem to have a lot in common then. Hope I can count on you then if my back needs watching?" He had been testing him this whole time, first showing off that he was a changeling, then gauging his reactions to see if he actually harbored anything against them. Say yes, and if you're sincere, I'll know it. Say no, and either way, I'll know to watch my own back for you. He thought all this in his head, keeping track of Jaeger's emotions. So far, he'd been telling the truth, and also, didn't seem to resent talking to a changeling.

Jaeger hesitated before nodding. "I'll have your back as long as you have mine. Just don't try and get yourself killed.....and if you do try to disguse yourself as the enemy your going to need to find a way to signal me or have a visual way I can know its you....I don't want to accidentally put an arrow in your skull." he said with a chuckle.

Lee nodded, happy at the sincerity he felt in that statement. "Right, well, even though this may sound weird, I always have fangs. I've tried shifting my mouth to be normal, but it feels weird, so I've always kept my canine teeth their changeling size. If I see you, and I'm shifted, I'll just smile at ya. Trust me, you can't miss my smile."  As Lee said this, he did smile a large and some what sharp smile in Jaeger's direction, showing his fangs to the Black Legionnaire.

Solar heard everything that Jaeger and Lee had said to each other behind him. The look he gave the two could kill. "I see your little trick actually has more uses than aggravating other ponies...." as he tried to maintain the stern look but almost lost it for a second "I'm just kidding. Your stealth and espionage skills should be invaluable on this mission. I was going to ask you earlier, but we were too busy trying to get back at one another....Jaeger, you should see the look on your face."

Solar now turned his attention to the gray pegasus.

"I'm sorry that I didn't get to introduce myself earlier at the meeting. I'm Lieutenant Solar Sentinel, Celestia Branch, and head of the 743rd Sky Guard. It is a pleasure to meet you."

Charcoal looked at the stallion. "Charcoal Embers. Lunar branch. And not to cause offense, but why does your rank matter? You might be big and strong, but no matter what you are still a pony underneath that armour."

Charcoal looked at the fangs in fascination. They were so cool. "Wow. I would love to be able to have teeth like yours they just look so cool." Charcoal admitted to Lee. She didn't even care that she was staring now. She was glad she knew a pony as interesting as Lee.

Lee turned to Charcoal, grinning full on at her with his fangs, surprised that some pony actually found them interesting rather then horrifying

Lee turned around again, this time, at the mention of his name, and saw Solar facing him. He noted his serious looking face, then remembered last time he had been talking to Solar, the stallion's emotions and face didn't match up. He felt Solar's emotions and was quite relived to find a hint of amusement. He nodded at him, and took his compliment about his skills with a smile.

Solar's face went black when she mentioned his rank. He had never been asked that before. He thought a few seconds before thinking of a politically correct answer....

"I never really thought about it that much Miss Embers. I guess it is mainly a habit. From my duties in the Royal Guard and the 743rd, that's mainly what I'm referred to...My rank and not my name. Even Celestia has been know to do it on rare occasion."

 

Solar takes his helmet off, taking the picture of his parents out. "I've been refereed to by a rank even before joining the Royal Guard all those years ago. My father was a Royal Guard and he would always call me his second in command. It's just something I haven't left go of. I guess it keeps his memory alive."

Sunny's eyes gleamed softly as she proceeded up next to Solar, trying to be soft and at least somewhat uninterruptive as she did so. "Now I don't think you should be worryin' about titles on this here mission. We gotta work together as equals. Speakin of which," she wondered," when will we be headed?"

Lee was about to walk off when a wave of emotion crashed over him, almost making him stagger. He looked around and saw Solar standing there, holding a picture. He walked up behind him and peaked over his shoulder. "Is that your family?" He regretted asking the question as soon as he asked it. Stupid changeling! He face hoofed. He needed to remember that families were a touchy subject...especially with these ponies it seemed.

Solar looked back at the black pegasus. "I feel the same about equality of ponies, however shouldn't one be proud of their accomplishments. I understand that my rank is just a title here and nothing more. That we're all on the same level. Wasn't there some accomplished that you were so proud of that you told almost everypony you met?...Something that says I've done something...or am I just a hard headed pegasus with no modesty." he said with a slight laugh, however some of what he said was true. Most pegasi weren't exactly known for their modesty...especially the most famous flyer of recent times.

She would be a good ally to have on this trip. No, that's not quite right, she'd be a good friend. He grinned at this thought. I have a friend.

Charcoal walked over to Lee and smiled at him. "Well... now that I got that out of the way... um... what do you wanna do now?" Charcoal asked him. "You want to stay here and continue to chat with these ponies here? Or would you like to go somewhere else and just talk with you and me?"

Charcoal shook her head at Solar. "No... I have never really done anytime I'm particularly proud of before. I just live a boring life and hardly ever do anything ever. And when I do anything it is either my job or eating and that is pretty much it." Charcoal explained.

Solar looks back at Charcoal and Lee. "Miss Charcoal, I'm sorry that we got off on the wrong hoof there, but I'm hoping that we can still be friends. I know I can trust Lee with my life, and I was hoping the same from you."

 

It was at this time that Solar realized that he was the only Celestia Branch member on this mission, which began to seem odd to him. 'Three Luna, Two Black Legion, One Cadance, and me...I'm the only Celestia....I can understand Cadance's branch as it's brand new though.' He said to himself.

Solar caught up with Jaeger. He had one last question to ask him before they departed. "Jaeger, you've been on enough of these types of missions. I've noticed that most of the other branches have multiple representatives here, yet I'm the only one from Celestia's Branch here. I didn't notice it until I butted heads with Miss Embers a few moments ago. It's like there is still a small amount of resentment between the two branches. In the past has Celestia's Branch taken over and turned missions into military operations?"

Jaeger stopped when he heard Solar coming up behind him. He turned and stayed silent, listening to the ponies final question. This question he was not to familiar with. He had know the Celestia branch to be control freaks sometimes, but to his knowledge they rarely dabbled in the Inquisitions affairs. "I'm not sure Solar, from what I've heard the Celestia branch doesn't take part in these things. Why I don't know, probably most of them don't want to get their shiny armor dirty." he said with a fair sounding chuckle. "I'm sure if they tried there would be an uproar in the other branches." he said, his tone becoming more serious. he flipped up the hood on his cloak and turned to Solar once more. "I'll just stick with you for the time being. I've got nothing better to do." he said rolling his eyes.
