and taken more seriously than it needs to be covers the whole idea about ponies and friend ship and by definition is a cheap cop out.

Don't even start with the "cop out" argument. It infuriates me whenever it comes up because basically you're telling people "deduct it's validation to be enjoyable because it's trying to be what it is." (The equivalent to saying hate it for what it's trying to be. Not that I'm saying you're telling others to hate it.) Don't be dissapointed when an Ostrich comes put of a Ostrich egg.

 

Reviewers often criticize it for contexts that don't exist. They even make up imaginary comedy rules to take it down even further

If you look at comments to the reviews you see user after user having to explain the jokes to the reviewer because of the reviewer's "rules" or because the joke was targeting a particular audience that the reviewer isn't apart of.

 

Don't get me wrong some jokes need context, but in my experience parodies are free game.

 

And for the record there were a lot of things wrong with that movie other than a not-serious batman.

I've never liked it, there's been like 2 or 3 moments that actually amused me, but otherwise it's just been cringe-worthingly bad attempts at comedy, I recall feeling(it's been a while since I've watched them, I've watched the first 7). The songs I think I enjoyed tho, but good songs don't make up for it's flaws, in my eyes.

Being new to the forums, I almost feel like this could get me on everypony's bad side, but I enjoyed it.

 

Yes it is offensive and crude at times, but it is also stupid and silly. I almost look at it as being in a similar vein to https://www.youtube.com/user/BadLipReading (Bad Lip Reading). Someponies with an overactive and surreal imagination took existing footage and voice over things the original characters would NEVER say.

 

I will always love the original series better, and that will always have a more profound emotional impact, but I can still laugh at Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon calling Apple Bloom and Twist "stupid heads" - because it is such a poorly conceived insult.

 

I'm certainly not going to try to convince anypony why they should or shouldn't like the show. But I think it is all in good fun, so don't be too offended by it!

Personally, the jokes never got to me and the only reason I watched it was for the songs, Sweetie Bot, and a few good jokes. Other than that, I really don't care for FiW

I like the songs and it got the odd chuckle out if me but it's my least favourite of the "main" 3 abridged series. UFP being first and MAS being second (although FimFlamFilosophy is my favourite channel of the 3).

I love FiW. It's cruel but that's what makes it so funny, it parodies the show and fandom so well.

The only times ive seen people get hurtmad about FiW was their snowdrop parody.

FiW was something I had to watch twice. At first some jokes flew completely under my radar. Some references or very quiet jokes said by background ponies...

Now that I think of it, I really don't know.

 

All I can really say is "I just like it", but that's honestly all I can think of. I just happen to find it entertaining is all...

Also, the one review I DID watch, in my eyes anyway did seem to take it a bit too serious. Like really, it's a freaking parody. You DON'T need to get that serious and in depth with it honestly. XD

Dunno. I far prefer the MAS, though FFF's newer rendition born of Hasbro's encroachment doesn't feel as funny to me as the original.

 

I mean, I laughed here and there, and 9/10 for Neigh, Soul Sister, but I believe the series could have been done better.
