planning Beyond these walls Chapter 2: A Darker Fate (Adventure, Survival, EPIC!)

The Elusive Cinder

Recommended Posts

I'm just going to point out that not only would there being frost on his body mean that he'd be pretty much dead but raising his body temperature so rapidly would kill him. (I know my hypothermia and that would just kill Ronin outright.....)

1. It's a bit unfair to keep bringing that up, because he had to go through the cold just to get to the group in the first place, so of course he would be freezing, or have hypothermia, but just declaring that a character is pretty much dead is unfair. He couldn't really help it that he had to start out in the middle of a freezing tundra, that's probably just where Cinderscribe told him to start out, so give him a chance to contribute to the story and hang with the team before you go killing him off, alright bro?

2. I said that Crimson was raising his temperature steadily, not a speedy rate. So just relax dude, it's a fantasy world full of talking ponies, dragons, and princesses, so it's not gonna be THAT realistic anyway...

1: It is in no way unfair as he could have started in a much better spot (Blaming it on Cinder is a very unreasonable conclusion.) for example: I would have said that a pony that i entered had survived the train wreck and ran from the elemental thing (Whatever that was.) but ended up in a different cave. When the massive light caused such chaos and destruction they would have been forced to seek shelter and would have wandered into the cabin, they'd be cold but nowhere near hypothermia level. And his condition is survivable and he wouldn't have frost clinging to his body till he was dead so just remove that and he would be able to survive from his poor starting place. I am not trying to kill him i am simply trying to correct something that is wrong.

2: Yes you did and at the rate that hes doing it not only would you be causing Ronin a massive amount of pain and suffering but you would outright kill him, i know exactly how fast that you can raise the temperature of a hypothermic individual and i can say from personal experience that hypothermia hurts like hell at even a slow recovery rate. It is a fantasy world of talking ponies and other mythological things but what your doing would kill a living being no matter how 'magical' it is.

And for once i am speaking from a point of personal experience i know exactly how hypothermia feels because i've nearly died from it, and i know exactly how to cure it because i've had to help others recover from it. For once there is no margin for error in this statement. I'm not trying to kill Ronin, i am simply trying to correct something. (This may come off a little harsh but it is true and based in hard and irrefutable logic.)

You guys... Are arguing about this... C'mon, it's just speeding things up. Would you rather them take the long way in treating his hypothermia? It's just helping I guess. And if it makes you feel better, I can remove all the stuff about hypothermia. He can just be really really cold. And it was my choice to start in the wilderness, I just went a little far with the hypothermia thing I guess. Like I said, I'll edit it out if it's causing this much of a fuss.

(This may come off a little harsh but it is true and based in hard and irrefutable logic.)

Look dude, your taking this WAY too seriously here...I'm not trying to question your knowledge or experience of hypothermia, either. However, just because someone who goes through hypothermia like Ronin's SHOULD be dying, doesn't mean he has to do so...and I'm not "blaming" Cinderscribe, I'm just saying that he might have at least suggested him starting in the blizzard, if not, then ok. But don't tell me I'm "blaming" someone, it's rude. The point is, I know that it's not too realistic, but who cares? It's fiction, we're trying to have fun with a fantasy story, things are bound to get impossible at some point anyway. Just let it go dude.

Alright, I've just finished editing out ronin having hypothermia. Now he's just very cold and hasn't eaten or slept much in a few days. (I will explain why in my next post). Now can everyone stop arguing about something so trivial and stupid and just have fun and role play like sensible bronies?

Damn: fates conspire and all that. Was Ill, then the computer packed in... think its all good now though, and I've still got my phone.

Incoming overly harsh post that could be worded more diplomatically, but isn't because I'm the DM here and my primary responsibility to hold the RP together.

Right! So, reading through this drama that's been going on while I've got a clear head - I think we can all agree that - while they seem to have settled - things have gotten blown way out of proportion by everyone involved - so I propose we drop this and roleplay, since that is the mutual intrest that we're all here for in the first place.

Let me set a few rules to avoid this happening again:

1. Rule of realism. Try to keep things realistic: I'm not asking for hyper-realism - this is a world of magical, talking ponies - but if someone can advise on something then listen to what they have to say. One of the reasons we have been so successful so far is that we have all listened to each others concerns and try to work around them.

2. Rule of drama. In keeping with Rule 1: drama, story and pacing can overrule realism - within reason. Nobody wants to RP a character who is in a coma or something. If its not too far to stretch the imagination then it won't hurt to concede the point and perhaps mention it for future reference that the severity of the situation might be being overlooked - and that it won't be easy to deal with if it comes up again.

3. Rule of Me. If you've got concerns about something and can't find a solution that everyone's happy with, PM me. I'll look into it (as soon as I can): I'm the DM after all, I guess it's kind of like that crappy part of my job that I'd rather not have.

In short - we all need to back down a little. I'm not having the RP fail like so many others, just because everyone is too proud to step back and say 'fair enough, its not worth causing an argument over'.

Apologies again from my absence (and the suddenly aggressive sounding post) but come on folks - as much as I don't like having some kind of superiority complex, we're all better than the usual Internet mudslingers.

So, its taken me the best part of an hour to write this: time I was going to use to post. I'll post for everyone collectively, but that might not be for an hour or two now.

Oh, and lastly...

@,

Eclipse has become the first pony to start questioning the slightly unusual goings on! Or at least, the first to actively start testing them... :P

Couldn't have said it better myself! Although, do note that I tried to end the argument and said "Let it go" but whatever, your post still works better. /)

Just an update here, but are Crimson and Noble still gonna have that badass swordfight we talked about? Because all of Crimson's current focus is on kicking Noble's ass...

(Posting from phone and can't mention people)

How about trying to get to the Crystal Empire first? And I don't know. Noble's priorities aren't on Team Brandy. He doesn't even know if they're still alive.

I hope so, because things are getting kinda dull, and Crimson's depression, plus a dull adventure, equals a very boring, sad, and drunk Crimson...I actually can't wait to see Ronin's reaction to all the "super magic" and "demigod issues" that the groups been dealing with! Hopefully it's hilarious...(insert trollface here.)

Dude, it's far from dull. There are three storylines running side-by-side and our characters are not invincible. They have problems that need sorting out, too.

Trust me, I know their not invincible or anything, I'm just bored...drama and intriguing surprises are cool and all, but I almost miss being chased by a murderous, unknown magical entity...almost...anyway, sorry if I kinds sound stupid, I'm just feeling a bit...dull...
