Slice0Pie 815 December 3, 2013 Share December 3, 2013 In other words, what do you hate when it comes to drawing a My Little Pony? I usually hate the necks, face, and legs. Everything else is usually fine.

Blue Moon 6,341 December 3, 2013 Share December 3, 2013 I despise drawing the muzzle. I always mess it up, and I can never get it just right. And it's a shame, as I can usually draw the rest of the pony fairly well. Though, I guess certain types of manes give me a bit of trouble (e.g. Twilight's mane. Curse that mane.) 2 Autumn Blue Moon Clear Skies Summer
Seaweed-Headed Dragon 359 December 3, 2013 Share December 3, 2013 (edited) Tails, I always mess up on tails.... Also the body, It can't make it proportional to the head XD <================= that's why .I always draw ponies like this without the body Oh the other hand I love drawing eyes. Yep I draw oldschool style, you know..pencil and paper Edited December 3, 2013 by RainDash Dragon 1 Thanks to Tao for making this sig for me ^^

Stancet 689 December 3, 2013 Share December 3, 2013 I don't like fixing my mistakes when getting the proportions just right. I actually love the pony-figure but I guess I haven't done it enough to get the hang of it yet. The only other thing I hate is reference. I haven't been able to draw a pony from my memory alone because of all the fine details, but I still love it. Every time I try to draw a pony it comes out like this: (EDIT: That's supposed to be Rainbow Dash, of course) ... I don't exactly see how that's supposed to be Rainbow Dash, but okay. Demirari 454 December 3, 2013 Share December 3, 2013 (edited) It's the facial expression for me, the face counts a lot. If your ponies facial expression is wrong, it will ruin the entire drawing. You just got to raise or lower those eyes correctly. Edited December 3, 2013 by Demirari
Blique 211 December 3, 2013 Share December 3, 2013 The legs. In particular, the legs in regards to perspective...I'm rather bad at perspective in general. *puts on to-practice list* I make digital art, traditional art, scarves, and crafts. http://mlpforums.com/topic/65309-bliques-ponies/

PoisonClaw 8,166 December 3, 2013 Share December 3, 2013 The legs mess me up every time. I can do the rest of the body just fine, but I easily spend hours just trying to get limbs to look right. You name it, I've drawn the legs like that: too long, too short, really thin, really thick or simply drawn in a way that looks like the leg is broken in three places. TheYoungMathProf 11 December 6, 2013 Share December 6, 2013 I won't claim to be an artist yet (I have very little experience, although I did draw the sketch that is my profile), but so far it is the legs and eyes, as well as slight proportions (I get close, but not quite perfect). I think I just need to take time to draw individual parts until it comes natural to put them together.
AfTeRwArDs 509 December 6, 2013 Share December 6, 2013 Rarity's tail, man. It's got like, those three curls there, and it's friggin impossible to get them to look right. I've gotten better at it of course, but I still remember my intense frustration trying to draw it for the first time xD Other than that though, the facial proportions usually take a couple tries to get them just right, since y'know, faces are everything. I usually don't worry too much with bodily proportions (though I have gotten better with those too), and legs are fairly easy. Cutie marks are sometimes a problem; I tend to make them too big and have to erase them and make them smaller. So, there you have it. My thoughts on the difficulties of drawing ponies. Thank Naminé. Ask me things dammit.
Argent Artique 47 December 6, 2013 Share December 6, 2013 For me, it's usually making something that is custom and original. Something that there is no reference to use as. So you have to make some sort of bare-bones, then work around that, do some minor tweaks just so it can look good. Another thing are eyes, positioning them correctly, making appropriately proportionate sizes as well; trying to make them not look derped out. K-Kopp 5 December 8, 2013 Share December 8, 2013 Hardest part for me is getting the eyes to look right. My eraser goes through a lot of abuse trying to get the eyes perfect.
Squeaky Clean 33 December 8, 2013 Share December 8, 2013 The hardest part for me is the face in general. The muzzle, the eyes, etc. They take forever for me to get to look right. Dsanders 5,748 December 8, 2013 Share December 8, 2013 It's always usually the eyes and muzzle that's the hardest to draw. Takes me the longest and it ends up being the most frustrating moments for me in drawing ponies. The eyes mean everything in drawing a pony, at least from my experience. Because even if you make just the littlest mistake in sketching out the pupils and the little white lenses effect in the eyes, it's gonna end up being completely off, and as a result, I usually end up with a derpy-eyed pony because of it. Of course, no offense to Derpy Hooves, because she's freakin adorable the way she is!
Super Derpy 535 December 8, 2013 Share December 8, 2013 The legs. Ugh the legs. I always make them unnaturally long and I end up spending so long on the legs every single time. ReverseFaller 2,484 December 8, 2013 Share December 8, 2013 I find the neck is the hardest part for me. Connecting the hooves to the muzzle (neck), I always mess this part up. Everything else about the pony is relatively easy for me to draw though. The muzzle may give me a little big of trouble every now, and then. Some manes are a pain to draw too. Ruddboy Olaf 10,628 December 10, 2013 Share December 10, 2013 Proportions are the worst. I always mess up on them. Other than that, hooves are a big pain in the ass.
Phoenix237 353 December 10, 2013 Share December 10, 2013 The head in general I can do the rest of the body fine, but if the head isn't right then it all goes downhill Also I would say my lines look wobbly and I have to constantly edit when drawing digitally, but I havn't practiced enough drawing on a tablet so that's not a real issue.
