hmm i have an idea for something to help people who are sad but i might need someponies help with it i'm thinking of making a topic where people post funny/cute/happy pictures,stories and memories if somepony is sad it would be extremely helpful to find the topic and to cheer up.So what do you ponies think good idea or what (i guess this kinda means ill help out)

                no matter who they are they can be cheered up.

hmm not really i was thinking of trying to get a bunch of people to help so i could arrange it into groups such as the writers upload on this day the pictures get uploaded this day something like that though i guess i would probably have to handle things like upload schedules and all that good thing i have nothing to do in the holidays Yay for being anti-social

well what i meant was like if people are too busy too upload but they have something to upload they can send it to me and i'll upload it for them and then give them credit were credit is due

I imagine this opinion will be unpopular, however, I am up for the swift removal of the brohoof button.

 

I have always despised these 'like', '+1', and other variants of these "lazy buttons". People will click and move on, and shortcut the entire communication process. This leads to an automated, robotic feeling. Who wants to be nice to a robot? Before you answer that, remember the last time you had to navigate a tech support phone menu.

I've actually found the button to be quite morale-boosting, encouraging, and decreasing in the amount of spam/clutter posts.

 

If you agree with someone, you go to the thread, quote them, and most people would likely just say: "I agree with you. That's all I have to say." Making unnecessary nonsense that really shouldn't be on these forums. Those people can just go, click a button, and brohoof that person.Then everyone can know that you agreed and like their points, and that person gets a nice little bonus there. People just tend not to be really good at thinking up positive or detailed things to say in that context. They don't think about WHY they agree. They just know they like that post, and they press that button.

 

Regarding removal, if there's anything I'm for, it's getting rid of the brohoof count. It's completely unnecessary and just screams "popularity contest," making people feel bad for not having many of them and decreasing morale even more. That'd probably help make these forums a better place. (Just a tad though... there'd have to be some SERIOUS work on many fronts to improve the state of things.)

 

Anyone, I already do most of these things. I don't need a challenge to be nice to people. Regardless of whether I wanna make the forums a better place, it's always good to spread more positivity and kindness wherever you go. I suppose I could go welcome a few newbuckets though. (Also, it isn't cold outside here. No snow. )

Excellent idea. I don't know how the forums used to be before all this. I'm only here for a couple of weeks after all. But I think that it's already an awesome place, and I'd sure like it to be even more awesome! Hugs to everypony!!!

I'm not as happy as I used to be because I am starting to feel alone and ignored and as if everyone on here doesn't care about me and want me gone.. I feel like I have no friends, I don't know why, but I feel sort of upset when I post a status update, asking how is everyone, or goodmorning, or goodnight, no one replies, and when another person posts the same status update, asking how is everyone, ect, like 20 people reply.. I feel sort of upset because of that.. Basically, I feel ignored..

dont feel ignored...just dont care!   *glares at everyone else* okay, care a little. i mean, i dont really do anything on here except occasionally post sarcastic quips, and im not seeing many responses when i do.   im so interesting. :comeatus:  but seriously, dont judge yourself by how other people react to you, judge yourself on what you can do about it. i...dont have many friends, and im not making any more at my school, among other things... and its hard when you feel depressed where you go. but remember, you do have people who care, and as for those who dont- buck them. just be fully yourself. your life isn't over yet.

hey if you ever need a pick me up of humor come and check the cheer up thread that's in the forum lounge that what it's there for to help people who are depressed is what i'm trying to do.

I think this sort of thread would be a really neat idea to be honest. Has it already been created or how has that come along?

Guys, I can see you're doing good for the forums. But honestly, I would like to admit some people just don't want to be bothered, technically including Cranky Doodle and me (on some occasions. Just be wary of my mood). Don't FORCE people to feel good, make them feel good the smart way: bring their source of happiness, calm them down then move in for the kill, use the right kind of humor, etc. Everyone is different in different ways. If you force them, I can't promise you the outcome will be a good one... Hell, you're probably gonna get reported for spam or whatever they'll report you for...

 

So, when making people feel good, don't just do it, do it right
