Geek0zoid 1,468 January 8, 2014 Share January 8, 2014 Well, school is once again closed for me today, and today just seems a little bit boring to me. So, you know what I do during these times? I DISCUSS VIDEO GAMES WITH YOU! Anyways, down to business. Indie games have really seemed to burst on the gaming scene over the past couple years. There are even some indie games that seem to surpass Triple A titles like Call of Duty. I don't play a lot of indie games, but I'll tell you; lots of them can have more charm, gripping gameplay, and great mechanics that surpass even big-budget games. So, I'll ask you; what Indie games do you guys like the most. Mine is probably Braid. Because time and puzzles really go well together :3 Signature made by: Rainbow Skywalker My little YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/GeekySteven (Game (Mostly) and Pony Reviews) (Yes, I'm actually active) My Johari Window thingymabob :http://kevan.org/johari?name=StevenEarthPony ASK ME A QUESTION OR TWO!:http://mlpforums.com/topic/85648-ask-steven-anything-you-want-he-loves-answering-your-questions/#entry2228380
Moonlight 7,291 January 8, 2014 Share January 8, 2014 I enjoy both "The Cat Lady" and "Limbo". I'm not sure if "The Cat Lady" counts as indie, though. 1 matching setups with my bff pathfinder

Black Licorice 58 January 8, 2014 Share January 8, 2014 I would say Default Dan (rage-inducing, but fun) and Limbo. Both SPECTACULAR games and they're both indie games, so that's a big bonus... 1 Don't give up on your dreams, keep sleeping.
Leavinh 313 January 8, 2014 Share January 8, 2014 (edited) As you can probably guess by my avatar, I'm a huge fan of the game Fez. I just really enjoyed the puzzles, the atmosphere, and the soundtrack is probably one of the best I've heard for a game. Some runners up, since I have a really hard time choosing favorites: The Swapper, Off, Antichamber, The Stanley Parable, MirrorMoon EP, Dust: An Elysian Tail, Closure, Braid, Super Meat Boy (all Edmund McMillen games, really) , Castle Crashers, Cave Story, Bastion, Anodyne, the Bit.Trip series, The Bridge, Gone Home, The Adventures of Shuggy, Gravity Bone, Barkley Shut Up and Jam: Gaiden, Gunpoint, the Knytt series, Limbo, Papers Please, Shelter, Thomas was Alone, VVVVVV, and Super Hexagon. ...I really like indie games. Edit: How could I forget 140, Kairo, Beatbuddy, Eryi's Action, Thirty Flights of Loving and PixelJunk Eden? MLPForums Phanact 1,374 January 8, 2014 Share January 8, 2014 VVVVVV is an awesome platformer game that I cannot wait to pick up on my PS Vita. I've got it on my PC and it's awesome. Flower is another great indie title made by ThatGameCompany for the PS3 and PS Vita and it's so beautiful, it's the only video game that's ever made me full on bawl my eyes out. It is such a beautiful work of art, I recommend it to anyone and everyone. 1 let's love for me and lets love loud and let's love now cause soon enough we'll die

An Old Head 4,816 January 8, 2014 Share January 8, 2014 (edited) 9.03m. It's about twenty minutes long, but they were twenty of the most beautiful minutes of my life. 9.03m isn't so much a game as an experience. It puts you in the context of the 2011 tsunami in Japan that killed so many people. The developers wanted to individualise and characterise the victims of this tsunami, because only so many forms of media represented all those unique lives lost in the disaster with no more than a death toll. 9.03m lets you discover those lives that were lost by finding pieces of their livelihood - a football, for instance, or a wooden train - washed up on the beach. It's a beautiful way of telling a tale, with such incredible ambience and soundtrack to capture it; I became so immersed and entranced that I even said "No!" in protest upon discovering one certain item. (spoilers... go play it!) I could go on about the symbolism, the subtlety, the heartfelt humanisation of all these people... but 9.03m is a game to be played, not told of. Steam is selling it for a mere £1.60, half of which the developers give to Aid For Japan, a charity supporting the families of those who lost their beloved. You'd be a fool not to pick it up. Katana 298 January 9, 2014 Share January 9, 2014 Probably my favorite unspoken indie is Aquaria. It's an underwater "metroidvania" style of game where you play as a mermaid that can change form to fight and solve puzzles. There's a recipe mechanic to the game that I found pretty enjoyable. What I especially liked is that despite being indie, it makes no excuses on content; and that's not to say it becomes repetitive. It finds plenty of different ways of challenging you, and even has something like 13+ boss fights in total (many of them optional). It's on Steam, and probably other sites too. Come to think of it, it may have been released on iPad or Android.

BreakingJesse 111 February 10, 2014 Share February 10, 2014 JOURNEY is the best indie I've played. It's even better than DOTA 4. PSN: MugetsuKurosaki ACS, AC4, TLOUR, RL, WITCHER 3, INJUSTICE, MINECRAFT (PS4) | FFX2, MINECRAFT, FIGHTING CLIMAX, J&D, BL2, PSAllStars (VITA) |
Greywolfin 102 February 10, 2014 Share February 10, 2014 Amnesia: The Dark Descent Limbo Superbrothers: Sword and Sworcery Lone Survivor Bastion I have a huge list of indie games in my steam account (way, way too many to list) but these are my favorites. "There are a million ways we should’ve died before today… and a million ways we can die before tomorrow… but we fight for every second we get to spend with each other. Discordian 6,024 February 11, 2014 Share February 11, 2014 Depending on your definition of "indie" I've either played very few or a lot. I used to play flash games all the time. In spite of their freeness they have a tendency to be quite innovative. I've found games that are even more atmospheric and creative than most retail games. If you don't count flash games as indie games for whatever reason than I've played like...Limbo and Amnesia. Both of which were pretty mediocre. I've played a few freeware games too like Last Scenario (it's so good I'm surprised they didn't ask for money!) and Eversion.
Mutemutt 773 February 13, 2014 Share February 13, 2014 Skullgirls, kind of by default. Don't really play a ton of indie games for that long; there's plenty of underwhelming games out there you see. I do play some games so niche they should be honorary indie games, but...

Celtore 2,770 February 13, 2014 Share February 13, 2014 (edited) I really enjoyed playing through VVVVVV. I submitted a bug report once because I exited the game in an awkward location and Terry claimed it was a feature he left in! Anyway, I'm also a big fan of: Cave Story - Awesome gameplay and it's a pretty good challenge The Stanley Parable - Don't ask me to describe what it is though... Amnesia - Fantastic atmosphere, 3D and LINUX SUPPORT! (despite not having played it because I'm a coward) Minecraft - Obvious reasons Bit Trip Runner - Frustrating at times, but man is it great when you get a streak going. SomariFeyWright 776 February 15, 2014 Share February 15, 2014 Sadly (and also fortunately), the only indie game I've officially played is Cave Story. A great game, with great controls, a great story, the usual 8-bit indie graphics, and an overall amazing game more than worth playing. Awesome signature made by Tromino.
