After the Emerald War came to a close after Rayquaza intervened at the Battle of Sootopolis, sending Groudon and Kyogre back to their lairs for a slumber, and Rayquaza's chosen hero went on to challenge the Elite Four, Teams Magma and Aqua retreated to their bases in Mt. Chimney and Lilycove Harbour respectively. In the following years, they continued activity underground as the Hero of Sootopolis settled into the champion role. Unfortunately, with such a young, mostly untested champion leading the region, Magma and Aqua were given the chance to expand and grow underground, and in the years that followed, grew even larger than when they competed in the epic Battle of Sootopolis. Eventually the two teams had grown so powerful that even Hoenn's Gym Leaders shortly found themselves under either Magma or Aqua influence. Each team, with three Gym Leaders' allegiance each, worked together to overthrow the regime in Ever Grande City. 

The Elite Four fell, and fell hard. All four previous members of the Elite Four have disappeared without a trace, and Magma and Aqua have installed members of their own on the steps of Ever Grande City. However, the Champion's role remains vacant, as the region's previous Champions - Steven Stone, Wallace, and the Hero of Sootopolis - have all failed to step up to the plate, to pay allegiance to either or both of the two new dominant factions in Hoenn. Without a leader to bind the two teams together, they turned on each other, and are now attempting desperately to be the team to control Hoenn. Out in the open, now, both teams are ruthless in their attempts to get the upper hand. Fighting is intense in the areas around the Safari Zone and the Cycling Road; Magma Rustboro and Aqua Slateport have both been bombed heavily; cities have been wiped off the map. Hoenn's warring factions have no mercy for one another.

This is where your story begins.

Trainers from all across the world have been trooping to the now war-torn region of Hoenn to attempt to claim the vacant Champion's seat. Despite Hoenn's current state of Civil War between its new dominant factions of Magma and Aqua, the time has never been riper to make a name for oneself in the world. For surely, the trainer that is able to end the war and claim the Championcy of Hoenn is surely a trainer of great power, perhaps the greatest trainer in all the Pokemon World.

 

 

 

UPDATE ON THE HOENNESE CIVIL WAR

Gym Leaders Brawly, , Tate & Liza and Juan have paid allegiance to Team Aqua.

Gym Leaders Roxanne, Wattson and Flannery have paid allegiance to Team Magma.

In the first two devastating battles of the Hoennese Civil War, the cities of Petalburg and Fortree were destroyed. The survivors of the Burning of Fortree, including Gym leader Winona, have relocated to the western edge of Pyre Bay, across from Mt. Pyre, at the southern extremity of Route 120. Pyre City, fillled with mainly Fortree refugees, now connects Route 120 to Route 123, just east of the Berry Master's House.

After the flooding of Petalburg, Gym Leader Norman and the survivors relocated from now-Petalburg Lake to Oldale Town, which now is home to Norman's Gym, and is perhaps the safest place in all of Hoenn at the moment. Littleroot Canal is nearing completion, and is planned to connect Route 103's calm river to Petalburg Lake, providing water transport to both teams for economic income to the independant and neutral city-state of Oldale.

Both Winona and Norman, along with their dominions, have so far remained neutral in the war, and have thusly suffered most. 
 

The Cycling Road between Slateport and Mauville collapsed during recent fighting in the area. The house known as the Trick House was crushed. The area has become a no-man's land. Skirmishes are common. A new path was forged between Slateport City and Oldale Town recently to encourage trade and influence in the region.

 

Ever Grande City is a ruin of its former self, despite it being declared neutral ground early in the war due to both teams' presence in the New Elite Four.

 

The Weather Institute was spared from the burning of Fortree City, despite its proximity.

 

The tram that brings people to the mouth of the volcano Mt. Chimney has been sabotaged and broken. The only way up is through heavily monitored Jagged Pass.

Now, Trainer! You want to take up the challenge and become Champion of Hoenn? First, you must know that due to new restrictions placed upon the Gym Challenge Community internationally, only two Pokemon allowed on your travels in a region may be native to a foreign region. A restriction has been placed on Hoenn that only allows Challengers of age 18+ to challenge, due to the ongoing war. Due to its neutrality and relatively safe harbor in a volatile region, Littleroot Town, in the independent Oldale Prefecture, has been selected as the arrival point for trainers hoping to take the challenge, and trainers are warned of the dangers both Team Magma and Aqua pose, and are advised to not take sides in the present conflict, despite certain attempts both teams will make to do so. Now, someone very important wants to talk to you before you start your journey.

Due to the nature of this RP, it's going to take some heavy DMing on my part, so be patient if responses aren't as immediate as you'd like.
This is a Pokemon RP, but there's going to be heavy influence from the Anime. Physics and strategy would probably be more effective taken from the anime rather than the games. Just because a Pokemon is weak in the games does not mean it is weak in this RP.
Feel free to submit OCs for this roleplay, but they will have to be humanized for the RP, which means preferably human-ish names, or at least, names that wouldn't look out of place in the Pokemon World.

I'd personally advise that your trainer be from somewhere in the world other than Hoenn, so you can catch Hoennese Pokemon and still have unique pokemon from far away.
Mega Stones are allowed, but you will not have them from the beginning of the RP. They will be given to you under very specific circumstances.

My team I challenged the Unova League with consisted of these guys: Spritzee, Flabebe, Whimsicott, Meowstic, Azumarill and Dedenne. I'm not sure who of them I'll bring to Hoenn. Probably Meowstic and Flabebe. 
Flabebe was a gift from my Mom before she went away, she's always with me.

 

What do you look like?
 

I'm short, tan, and have golden blonde hair, although I did get a couple of blue streaks to match my eyes. I usually wear a light blue tee with a hood, and a pair of dark blue shorts. Blue brings out my eyes. I like blue. I basically grew up in the water.

Well, I've been known to try and win my way through the Contests of Sinnoh. I've heard that there were some great Contests held in Lilycove! Well... That was up until the point of the great Hoennese War. Hearing the Champion's throne is unscathed, I think I'll take my part in it. Who knows? Contests may not cut it to the throne of the new Champion...

Have you traveled before, practicing your craft in other regions?

Not at all. I stay in Sinnoh, and not even bother with other regions. Hoenn seemed to be the only one to provide my Contest needs.

Oh, do you mean my glorious Luxio (Intimidate with Bite/Spark/Swagger/Charge and my newly claimed Roserade (Poison Point with Magical Leaf/Grasswhistle/Growth/Poison Sting)?

Gonna sound cliche, but I want to train as many pokemon as possible to their full potential. Just catching them is far too easy, and just training a few would be silly! I want to become friends with all the pokemon I can!

Nah. I'm only deciding to travel in Hoenn instead of Unova because all of the Unova pokemon are so boring. I mean seriously! I like all pokemon, but the Unova ones could really try to be a bit more interesting, you know?

That'd be Cottonee and Litwick.

 

Litwick I got from my mom when I was a little. She tends to be really mischievous. But I always forgive her, because she's just so cute! Plus, that mischievous nature helps us sometimes in battle.

Litwick has the ability Flame Body. She currently knows Minimize, Fire Spin, Confuse Ray, and Night Shade.

Cottonee I got as an egg from a passing trainer. Don't remember her name, but she was really nice. Cottonee looks a bit special. He's orange instead of green. But, I don't really see the big deal about that. Cottonee doesn't have any distinguishing traits other than being adorable, really. But he is really adorable!

Cottonee has the ability Prankster. He currently knows Encore, Fairy Wind, Leech Seed, and Protect.

I try to travel whenever I can. I was in Johto for a while, and I travelled through Sinnoh and Unova a while back. I haven't been to Hoenn yet, though.

Jarvis and No-name have been with me for years, and I wouldn't dream of leaving them behind.

 

Jarvis is a Kangaskhan that was the son of my father's Kangaskhan. I pretty much grew up alongside him, and when I started traveling my father gave him to me.

 

No-name is a Poliwhirl, and the first pokemon I ever caught. Admittedly I don't have as much of a bond with him as with Jarvis, but it wouldn't be the same traveling without him.

I don't know, pretty average, I guess. I never really think about it too much. I suppose I'm about average height, sturdily built, red hair, green eyes, and generally pretty unremarkable. I've been called handsome, but I don't really think much of myself one way or the other.

Where do you call home? I'm originally from Kiloude City in Kalos. Haven't been there in ages though.

 

What is your dearest ambition? I'm a trainer, of course. My plan was to challenge the Kalos league but...well let’s just say never underestimate Korrina and her Hawlucha. Since then I've trained almost every day in order to get stronger.

 

Have you traveled before, practicing your craft in other regions? Yes. My training has taken me around Unova and even to Sinnoh for a short time. I'm looking forward to exploring Hoenn, despite the crime that has sprung up in the last few years.

 

Which Pokemon do you call your closest friends? Seeing as I’ve traveled to a couple different regions my team contains quite a variety of Pokemon but my two strongest team members are Frogadier and Tyrunt.

Frogadier is the leader of the team as well as my first Pokemon. I received him as a Froakie from Prof. Sycamore when I first arrived in Lumiose City. He knows Water Pulse, Quick Attack, Smoke Screen, and Double Team and has the Torrent ability. He’s a very calm Pokemon preferring to use his speed to out maneuver his foes rather than overpower them with sheer force.

 

I got Tyrunt from a jaw fossil I found while exploring Glittering Cave. He may seem intimidating at first but he’ll quickly warm up to you if you give him the chance, though he does bite. He has the Strong Jaw ability and knows Bite, Ancient Power, Dragon Tail, and Bide.

 

What do you look like? I wear a blue shirt with a black jacket, blue jeans, dark gray shoes, blue eyes, brown hair that is somewhat spiky and long. Though not long enough for me to have to brush hair out of my face.

Gender doesn't really matter unless you plan on teaching moves like attract, or else in pokemon like Nidoran or Combee or Meowstic, where gender matters enormously. And don't worry about it. Do you want to unname them?

Not too bad, really. I have 3 other shinies in X, which are my three favourites. Oddish was 99, Absol was 327 and Swablu was 714. In White the odds are worse than X, so it might take quite a while. Good luck.

Accepted. Pretend like you were on the boat the whole time. Not everyone's left the area. If you hurry onto Route 101 and Unity Bridge towards Slateport (101's been relocated) You'll catch up to N-harmonia's character. Or chill with one of the battling pairs near the dock.

 

I believe I might have mentioned that my character participated in the Johto League. Want to make them rivals, or at least know each other? Say he beat her in the tournament?

Tough question - If it's a fighting type I've met, I've tried to befriend it!  The two that are always with me are my Lucario and Mienshao, though.

Hmm, weird question, never had to describe myself before...  About average in height and weight, I have really long jet-black hair that falls almost to my knees...  I usually keep it in one long braid though, to keep it from going all over the place.  Wearing a red tank top and black shorts right now...  Oh, and the black tape around my hands!  It's for sparring with my pokemon a little, softens their punches and kicks.
