All of these systems have tons of potential. Even though the Wii U isn't as advance, it has just as much potential as the PS4 and Xbox One. Like I said, though, outside of graphical standards, I don't think that they're going to try any innovation gameplay-wise. Good graphics are nice and all, but that's more of a plus than anything. If you're gameplay is nothing special or is just plain bad, good graphics don't matter much in the long run.

It's difficult to say how they would ever make some new breakthrough in gameplay, honestly. We've had the power to do just about anything for awhile now. It's up to the developers to make the good gameplay but I think the things that need the most work are implementation of music and story. Music takes up a lot of space on a disc so they don't try to make entire soundtracks made of entirely unique music...but it's really crappy when a game only has four or five tracks that play throughout the game.

7th generation, I haven't gotten it but it just looks like they mashed a controller with a wii. Not very good in my opinion, it's with the 360 9I love the 360 but it was made near-ish that time sooo).

This is just my opinion though, so feel free to disagree :P

There is a massive difference between the Wii and the Wii-U. The Wii-U has so much graphical power it'd burn the Wii dry within seconds if you tried to put a Wii-U game into it. It's not just a Wii with a new controller, it's an entirely new and upgraded system. Bar none.

@@Discordian,

I love music in video games, especially in the Sonic franchise (Sonic Adventure's soundtrack is just AWESOME) But, like graphics, music is a plus.

With what we have now, developers have everything they need to make something new. They're just too scared to step outside of what they know consumers like.

That's also true. We have the tools, we just gotta make use of them!

This is why indie games are getting a lot of love. They aren't so attached to some budget or sales goals that they need to try for the lowest common denominator. They have great gameplay and story innovations.

There's a few interesting looking games, but I agree it's not the "holy shit" factor seeing gameplay on the 360 or PS3 for the first time brought to the table.

I think I'm just going try out PC gaming this go around.

I'm currently building a gaming PC. I'm just sticking with that, my 3DS, and my Wii U for this generation.

But, if there's a game I seriously think you should get for the Wii U, it's Rayman Legends.

I've fallen in love with that game. It's my favorite game I've owned on the Wii U so far.

If it weren't for Kingdom Hearts 3, Infamous: Second Son and Final Fantasy XV (which are kinda unlikely to get PC versions, especially KH) I would do the same. The entire PSWii60 generation there wasn't a whole lot you couldn't get on PC that wasn't also on PS360 as well.

Plus Steam and GoG will fill years of my life with new and old games alike without breaking my wallet like console gaming does.

I'm still going to buy Nintendo's stuff, though. They're a good company, and if they died out, we'd lose one means of innovation.

I've owned a Wii U for only two months, and I hold no regrets in owning one. I've owned my 3DS for about half a year, and same applies to that.

I don't own a Wii-U yet but I love my 3DS even though I only have like five games for it. (Mostly due to not having a job to buy new games. :P )

If there's one thing that's true of the Nintendo systems, it's that they always have almost completely different libraries than the other big consoles. Remember when Nintendo and Sega had two huge consoles and they shared almost no games? How about Sony vs Nintendo during the PS1 era? Even Xbox, Gamecube and PS2 had vastly different libraries. Then suddenly PS3 and 360 have almost identical libraries? Wtf is up with that? Give me a reason to want to buy more than one console! It took me til last year to justify a 360 purchase. I could get most games for PS3.

If you ask me, we're going into Bit War II. Or, graphical war, in modern terms. People are really caring more about the visuals and less about the actual game. A huge reason why PS4's and Xbones were flying off the shelves was because of the graphical capabilities of both systems. You could get Battlefield 4 on 360, but instead, people bought a completely new system and got it on that. Why? Because it looked nicer.

Well when given the choice between the inferior and superior versions I should say the superior version is the obvious choice if you can afford it.

Of course, if you're getting an entire system for one game you better have some backup games to get too or else you wasted all that money for something you could've gotten for at least ten times cheaper! :P

Impulse buys, my friend. It's quite easy to find a game on a shelf you know nothing about and buy it just to find out. Research is for nubs, the best experiences are the ones you didn't even see coming.

I experienced that with Rayman Origins. I LOVE that game, and I love it's sequel even more so. Still, I remember when I first played it, and it blew me away.

Rayman Origins is the perfect example of what it means to use music properly. The music wasn't just in the background in the stage, it was circumstantial!

Entire levels built around the music!

I've been waiting to get Legends for the Wii-U cuz I feel the whole tracking Lum thing would work best on the Wii-U pad. I hear they tried to replicate it on the Vita but it just wasn't the same.

Well, the Wii U version is the best version of the game, for many reasons. The Murphy levels get a little monotonous, but there's always new challenges waiting in every single level, and they're all integrated really well.

And, the music levels. Don't even get me started on those. I'll go on for hours. I'm convinced you will never find better platforming levels than those, especially Mariachi Madness

I can't even explain it, so I'll just show you the level itself!

That's exactly what you were suppose to hear.

Me and my friend, Colin, couldn't play this level without a giant, goofy grin on our faces.

Do they have any other song references like that in the game? Cuz that's pretty amazeballs.

Well, the first one, Castle Rock, has "Black Betty" as it's song.

Actually, all music levels have references to real music, except the last one in the Land of the Livid Dead.

You just gotta know what each track is. The orchestra one might catch you off-guard, though.

So much Nintendo hate.

Yes I do think it is an 8th generation console. Although it might not be up to par with graphics, I think it makes up for it in gameplay. Nintendo has never, ever, ever been about graphics. Nintendo has always been about changing the way gamers game. The N64 paved the way for open world 3-D gaming. The GameBoy paved the way for mobile gaming. The Wii introduced solid motion controls. The 3DS was the first gaming system with in-your-face-3-D technology. Here are some big series for Nintendo systems, Super Smash Bros. which has been on every Nintendo console since the N64. Mario Kart, which has been on every system since the SNES. Legend of Zelda whose fans I consider to have as more love for the series than Bronies have for MLP and has been around since the old NES days. I think the Gamepad really helped the Wii U out. That's actually what I'm on right now, searching MLP Forums, and watching YouTube in my bed on my Gamepad. The Wii U has already released a bunch of solid titles. Monster Hunter 3, which has been recommended to me multiple times. Nintendo Land, which I find very fun. Super Mario 3D Land. And Super Smash Bros. U which is supossed to come out later this year. Lastly, it suprises me on who actually says Nintendo is bad. It's always people who play Call of Duty, and Madden which by the way, Activision and EA are two of the worst gaming companies ever. And both Sony and Microsoft have ripped of Nintendo's ideas more than once. The PS Move was just a copy of the Wii and so was the Kinect. The PSP was just a DS with a graphics increase. And also, Sony is a TV company and Microsoft is a computer company, that means almost hands down they will make better looking games, but Nintendo will always make higher quality games because all they have ever been was a gaming company.

Here's an insane idea, how about we don't judge what generation of console it is based on petty things like graphics?  How about extra features that actually improve how we enjoy games?  Like the Nintendo Network, Miiverse, eShop, and Internet Explorer.  The Wii U's web browsing makes the current generation competition look embarrassing, let alone the previous one.

Yes , it is an 8th gen. console. However, to me, it falls short in terms of hardware and software. I was really into Nintendo. I mean you could say I was stuck in the past. But, I moved on and gave up on them. I went with PS4 this gen. I've really become big on the Playstation brand. Unless Nintendo creates a console that catches my eye with great features and a unified online system, and maybe some new IPs. Honestly, I've gotten tired of Mario. Zelda isn't enough to make me buy a console, and we haven't heard anything about any new Metroid (which is probably my favorite Nintendo IP next to Zelda) But until then, I'm stickin' with Sony.

What does PS4 have aside from Kingdom Hearts III though. At least with Wii U we are getting stuff like Smash Bros and Mario Kart.

My PC has better specs than any of these consoles so who gives two shits about the Wii U's Specs. PCs have better online as well y'know.

Mountain Dewrito games like Battlefield and COD are made to be played on a Mouse and Keyboard and I can't stand it when games like that are shoved into a controller perspective. Nintendo at least have made their games to be on their controllers and as such have far better controls most of time, and hey at least the Wii U's controller has a reason to be over £50 while MS/Sony sell what I could buy on PC for like £20-30 pounds.

Also it's funny how people call it the casual console when scrubs everywhere are Slamming Wonderful 101, Sanic Lust world and Expand Dong Tropical Freeze for their difficulty (In the case of the last one did they even play the other DKC games?)

TL;DR PC master race Nintendo at least offer something that isn't a watered down PC

EDIT: I had an edit here but It was kinda douchey sorry

DOUBLE EDIT: Oh yeah topic uhhh Gens don't mean anything in the long run so yeah
