Earth/Unicorn/Pegasus Birth Ratio?

What do you think is the birth ratio of colts/fillies in Equestria? And does it have anything to do with your parents?

 

For the ratio, Ponyville seems to have more Earth Ponies than anything else, but that's probably just because they founded it and it's more suited to their needs. As for your parents, for example, all Apple family members are Earth Ponies, and Twilight's parents are both Unicorns. However, Mr. and Mrs. Cake are both Earth Ponies, but Pound and Pumpkin are a pegasus and unicorn.

 

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.

Well.I think of it as a matter of ancestry.Mr. and Mrs.Cake had unicorn and pegasi "magical" babies yet they were earth ponies.I do remember Mr.Cake saying that a great grandmother was a pegasus and somebody related to them was a unicorn.So maybe the "magical" ponies could appear out of knowhere in a long line of earth ponies with a few pegasi or unicorns in the family tree.

Birth ratios are most likely relative to where they live. Canterot is mostly unicorn, Cloudsdale is all pegasus, and ponyville has been stated to be an earth pony town. The cakes were a special case due to family history, but I am sure it was a fluke to get one of each non-earth ponies out of two earth ponies.

My guess is that genes in ponies are like in humans... FOR example I have hazel eyes... Like my mum... But my dad has blue... As does my brother... However if I inherit a blue eyed gene from my dad but it's the non dominant one and I had a kid who inherited the blue eye gene as a dominant one... My kid could have blue eyes... Even if I or the father didn't...

Birth ratios could be related to ancestry or on the chances of the genes, it could be either one of them.

I'm guessing Ponies are like people. Things like eye color, and other traits can skip a few generations. Then you have to take into account recessive, and dominant traits. Basically, Science.

Well considering ponies have lived together since Hearths Warming eve they have also integrated sexually.

 

All the ponies today should have pegasi,unicorn and earth pony genes. At least those are my thoughts.

I'd say roughly the same across the board. When two members of the same species reproduce, the offspring will more than likely be of that species. Of course, the Cakes are a notable exception, but she may have cheated on him. I think population density is a confounding variable, because though Ponyville is home to members of all three species, it was founded by Earth Ponies, and a lot of the Pegasi come from nearby Cloudsdale, I think. I'm sure demographic ratios vary in different parts of Equestria. Of course, the population of Cloudsdale is 100% Pegasus, since they're the only ones who can walk on clouds, while Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns would only have Unicorns(except for Celestia herself), and farms are often handled exclusively by Earth Ponies. In general though, I think the pony population of Equestria is roughly 1/3 each species, with maybe a slight difference in ratio(such as one species making up 35% of the population, rather than 33.3%).
