So We're Halfway Through the Season...

While I don't have as big of problems as other people, I do tend to agree with a lot of the criticisms

 

For starters, it really does cheapen Rainbow's Wonderbolt arc by putting Spitfire and Fleetfoot in such a negative light. Sure, we don't know if SF or FF represent the WB 100%, but seeing as how they're some of the more prominent members doesn't help. I can forgive Fleetfoot, but Spitfire just feels very inconsistant(and the episode ruined her for a lot of people). Personally I always hoped she'd grow out of the WB, but it's an arc that a lot of people looked forward too and the episode really hurt it imo

 

I see your point, but I feel the point they were trying to get across is that your heroes aren't always the perfect saints that you may make them out to be. It paints a more realistic picture of what the Wonderbolts might actually be like. This is a lot more interesting to me than the Wonderbolts just being perfect, ultra awesome racing prodigies.

Honestly, my least favorite episodes tend to be the ones that are the "weirdest (writer experimentation)" and the one's with the worst writing/dialogue. That being said, I can always findsomething to love in an episode, even if the episode is bad, and i appreciate that the writers are trying to be more adventurous with their writing style.

The season really has taken me by surprise lately and it looks pretty good for a start now that we've reached the halfway point of the season.

 

My episode lineup from my views, so far, is as follows:

Season 4 has yet to disappoint me with the next 13 episodes coming up and I don't see why anyone would bash Simple Ways. It develops great character for Rarity and Applejack and strengthened their friendship together and gives people a great friendship lesson that anypony can take away: Just be yourself and don't let anyone tell you differently. It is sometimes a hit and miss but it's a great episode for what it is and it was actually kind of funny to see the little fiasco with Rarity and Applejack, both whom were out of character at the end.
