After the bullshit they tried to pull after the Xbox One, normally I'd say good riddance, but from a business standpoint this sounds like an absolutely terrible idea. There's no denying that they built a huge consumer base off the Xbox brand, and while they lost a ton of money from the RRoD fiasco(which was their own damn fault), the brand really brings in the bucks for M$. Seriously, why do the investors want this? That would do nothing more than to piss off their consumers

While Microsoft is losing money on the Xbox brand, killing it off wouldn't be a smart idea. Microsoft has built up a massive following around the Xbox consoles and are now expanding the brand to beyond just games. While I do not agree with the idea that consoles should do more than just play games, I still do recognize that the Xbox brand is, by all means, profitable despite any marketing losses and, despite the damage caused at E3 2013, it still has a massive fanbase. Killing it off wouldn't be a great idea.

 

Besides, didn't Nadella say he bought an Xbox One for the family, so that his kids could have something to play on and that he and his wife could have a Netflix box? I don't think he'd be willing to kill off the Xbox brand because of that.

I grew up when consoles were still dedicated gaming devices and nothing more, so I'm a bit clingy to that philosophy. If I wanted to browse social media, watch a movie or listen to music, I'd just use my PC. Although I also do a majority of my gaming on the PC too these days, but that's a discussion for another time.

It's not like we need more clone consoles anyway. Personally I think the 360 and PS3 were too similar for their own good and it's looking to be the same for the Xbone and PS4.

Personally, I couldn't really care less if the Xbox division was cut off, because I prefer PlayStation ALL THE WAY!

BUT, it's not a good idea because they make way too much money off of it and they'll lose all of it in the process of cutting it off.

I slightly slighty SLIGHTLY support them cutting it off because then more people will come to PlayStation, but that's just me

Anyway, i dont agree with it generally and they should keep it going
