music What happened to 100.3 The Buzz?!

If anyone has heard of the radio station, 100.3 The Buzz, you might know that they've changed to playing mainstream music (Kill me!). This is ridiculous in my opinion, as they had a lot of listeners. Now the only radio station I have that plays rock n' roll is Rock 92, and they don't even play the good stuff! Now I'm relying on the internet for Staind, Seether, Three Days Grace, RATM, and other awesome bands like The Smashing Pumpkins!

I know that a minority of beings listen to rock these days, but is it really that bad to where they shut down a really popular radio station for the idiots who are against rock?

In my opinion, 100.3 The "Kiss" is dead music and the internet will  be the new home of my kind so... Yeah.

Any thoughts on the fact that mainstream society is ABSOLUTELY TAKING OVER? Tell me, please.

My thoughts on mainstream society taking over:

It's not taking over any more than people who like rock music are a dying breed.

Mainstream music is popular because of majority. Sometimes, a radio station that needs to stop losing money or make more of it needs to change its demographic in order to gain high listener-ship and be more profitable. Radio stations make money through advertising and the advertising only comes when a station has good ratings. I'm sure it feels like a huge betrayal to you, but to a station? A drastic change is simply a business survival technique.

And who knows? Maybe they were bought out?

Regardless, mainstream society just happens to be more popular than rock music. So what? There will always be one genre in a generation that is the most popular above all. It's a changing cycle. If you like rock music so much and think it's unappreciated, just think about the 80's. Rock and a lot of sub-genres of rock were HUGE in the 80's and would probably be considered the "mainstream society" of that time. Disco died, and rock took its place. No big deal.

One of the most important things you can do as a lover of any kind of music is to respect people's choices and interests as well as not assume that anyone who doesn't listen to your music doesn't know what "good" music is.

For me? The only music I don't like in the history of music is death metal. That's it. Everything else? I'm totes cool with. But if you like death metal and want to show me a song? Hell, I'll listen to it, because knowing that it means something to you makes it more special.

I was in the same boat a couple years ago when Funky Monkey went down. They were the only place that did good metal and they even had the decency to say the name of the song and band after every song. No other station does that. I hate radio for this.

There's a new station there now that does sort of the same thing in music but it's just not the same. At least it's not Gen-X which is what replaced it originally, maybe as a placeholder.

Now I just use Pandora. Same concept, less ads, more music that I know I'll like and can nix if I don't.
