Can anybody tell me why there shouldn't be a live action film of FIM?

Because it would look really dumb. For one thing, a majority of movies who's cast consists mainly of real life animals with voices added tend to be awful, sometimes to the degree of Baby Geniuses. It's also pretty impractical to do a live action FiM film unless it was Equestria Girls(which, judging from those abysmal commercials, not many people would want), it would be much easier(and preferred) to make an animated movie

But why would it be terrible and stupid?

Go watch any movie with live-action talking animals and you'll have your answer. Also, how would that even work? They'd have to paint a bunch of horses pink and s###.

It's not needed because, messing with an animated film and basically throwing the idea away to replace it with a live action film would be pointless since live action films for cartoons don't always have a good result.

"Making live-action versions of cartoons is pointless because they're not always good."

...No.

The idea makes no sense.  The live action/cgi hybrids worked because you had a mix of humans and non-humans... it wouldn't make any sense here because there aren't any characters in the show that you would have live action actors for.

Plus all the live action/cgi hybrid remakes of television shows I've seen have been terrible anyway, so I wouldn't want it to happen.  If it ain't broke, don't fix it.  MLP works as is, there's no reason to change it...

This thread made me laugh so much....Bravo!

That said live action would ruin MLPFIM if they had to cash in on a movie it would have to be Animated., but doing that they would add some giant end of the world cliché and at the end Twilight dies but the tears of her friends bring her back to life and everypony learns the power of Friendship!!!

Just like The Pokémon Movie!!!

Now that my wise crack is through if they did do a movie it would have to be a Series Finale type thing and tie everything together maybe just a small villain but work on giving each character a ending that fits them and satisfies fans,

Chase The Rainbow., Love The Rainbow!!

Oh it's you again...

Well to be honest it's because it would be weird... It would look like the Bratz movie that was live action... And personally I thought that was an odd movie...

Well, it's just my opinion. It's just pointless in making a live action movie, if we already have an animated film.

FiM has no animated film. EG is a disconnected spinoff. And you don't seem to understand the purpose of live-action adaptations of animated material. It's not made because no other version of the material exists. It's made because live-action is a fundamentally different medium than animation, and people like to see how their favorite things cross over between mediums. That's why books become film and films become games and books and musicals. And books become plays become movies.  And sometimes games (video or board) become film. Ergo, it's not pointless. You just don't care about the point.

Plus your statement here is entirely different than the one I addressed ("messing with an animated film to replace it with a live action film would be pointless since live action films for cartoons don't always have a good result." - paraphrased as ""Making live-action versions of cartoons is pointless because they're not always good.") so it's kind of completely irrelevant. The opinion I initially paraphrased is, factually, a terrible and wrong opinion in every way. Nothing ever always has a good result so by your logic, nothing should ever be made because it's pointless without guaranteed success.

Okay, I understand my mistake even though I do care it's just that I want to know why a live action film for the show is needed. Even though I didn't mean that it won't have a good result.

Go read the reviews of Dragonball. And lets not forget the Super Mario Brothers Movie.

They've been talking about doing a live action version of Voltron and Robotech forever. Please some mediums are just not meant to be translated between artforms.

Look at the Transformers live action films. Pacific Rim got better reviews than the three transformers films combined. I think at some point some ideas and some films shouldn't be made because well they just shouldn't be made.

I remember that they were thinking that the Dragonball Z live action film was going to become a franchise like Star Wars. Yeah right, make the movie first and then lets see if it has legs.

The only way a live-action FiM would work is in a Tokusatsu fashion, like the live-action Sailor Moon series from 2002.  But if that happened, the ponies would have to be CG.  And there would have to be some kind of live action element, like humans.  Which again, would be difficult.

I'm not saying this isn't possible.  It would just be very difficult, and it wouldn't be easy to write.  Of course if Japan can ever pull off a live-action Pokémon series, then I guess it might be in the realm of possibility.

To anyone who insists that a live-action MLP film would be excellent, I offer the following rebuttal:

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Mario Brothers

The Smurfs

The Flintstones

That is all. I believe my point has been made.

Plus look at the trailer for the new GODZILLA it will rock in I-MAX 3D ! So if DreamWorks who flimed How to Train your Dragon was behind production of making a MLP FIM CGI live action then it would be 20% cooler for all you Bronies including me ?

Ugh, because most live-action movies based on cartoons are terrible (and destroy childhoods, let's think of the little ones who will watch it and disappointed)

Come on, remember the Fairly Odd Parents movie?

I'm not talking about some cheap low budget movie like Equestria girls. I'm talking in terms of Avatar here!
