So I decided to make a thread about this...

 

I'm guessing some of you guys don't know about the origin of my name, Captain Marvelous is a character from the show called "Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger" which is part of the series "Super Sentai"

 

If you don't know this, Super Sentai is a live action show that started in Japan in 1975 called "Himitsu Sentai Goranger"

 

 

Though the show had a couple of english dubs (mostly in Hawaii. but most infamous is the parody dub of Bioman) It wasn't until 1993 that Sentai became a "norm" in the state, as the 15th show in the seires "Kyouryuu Sentai Zyuranger" is adapted into what is now known as the first season of "Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers"

 

Though being similar in suits,the two shows different from one another in story... one of the most notable difference in suits is...

 

 

That the white ranger suit belonged to a different sentai all together, the 16th series called "Gosei Sentai Dairanger" in which the suits of the thunder megazords came from...

 

little fun fact for Power Rangers: Apparently the suits for the ramaining team of the Dairangers were apparently going to appear in Power Rangers: Lost Galaxy, in that they were going to be the rangers that belonged to the Lost Galaxy

 

 

As of now the current Super Sentai show is called "Tokumei Sentai Gobuster"

 

which as of now, Sentai leads Power Rangers by three series (Goseiger, Gokaiger, and Gobuster)

Actually I never noticed the odd choice on casting in the original U.S version till it was pointed out on I love the 90's, but I guess that shows that the 90's kicked-ass.

Anyway, I watched a few episodes in a hotel in Japan. I was flipping through stations, waiting for when the next bus would leave, and saw this. At first I was just going to laugh a it, but after watching it, I realized "hey, this is like power rangers... But better!" then I found out that it actually is

That's already a bunch of fans are already calling Akibaranger... because of it's "adult" theme for the Otaku motive and the late night showings

The three characters there are played by the same actor, Kenji Ohba, the ones on the sides are from sentai shows "Battle Fever J" and "Denshi Sentai Denjiman"

 

the one in the middle belongs to the show "Space Sheriff Gavan" which started the series called "Metal Heroes" which you should be familiar with thanks to the suits of "Beetle Borgs" and "VR Troopers"

I read a manga called Change 123 that had a main character who was really into Kamen Raider. I assume they are related, if not the same thing? From what I saw in that, as it seemed to be fairly accurate when talking of Kamen Raider, I'm pretty interested. But even if that's not real stuff could you possibly point me to a good place to watch such things? (if there is anything like that on the internet <.<)

 

Where would be a good place to start with it for a newcomer? From the beginning or is it something you can start at any certain point and get into it?

Kamen Rider is pretty much the big brother to Super Sentai, where they were both made by the same creator, Sentai is younger by four years (Rider came out in 1971)... and for a link for Rider, try here http://www.facebook....=app_4949752878

 

In fact this year, they are actually having a crossover of Kamen Rider and Super Sentai, it's where I (Captain Marvelous) takes on the Devil himself (Kamen Rider Decade)
