It kinda makes me think that the only people who would write these types of fics are haters. Not really though. Sorry to butt in, but that's pretty harsh and you can't clump everyone into a group together like that. There are indeed some people who aren't a part of the fandom and are just trolling around to shock people, but you have to remember that a lot of people who write gore or grimdark fics don't actually approve of it or try to justify what the characters are doing. Why do people like scary movies? Because they like that creepy, tense and on-edge feeling of being scared. I personally just like the psychological aspect that comes with well-written grimdark, which isn't the same as mindless gore like Sweet Apple Massacre written for the shock factor. There's a fascination that can come with looking at characters that have gone insane and seeing how crazy the mind can truly get, but it doesn't mean people actually approve of it. But tbh what you need to get in your mindset is that people like horror and they also like making fimfiction. While it is a BIG stretch to take human concepts (sex + violence) and add them into the MLR universe, that's the human part we bring to the equation. It might be easy to consider those who write and those who read "sickos" but people like a good scare and they also reach scary novels and watch horror movies. If you're read Pet Semetary or watched Hostel the effect is the same as what gorefics provide, its to scare you along the way. It's simply horror in MLP universe. If you don't like them (and they are for adults not kids) then don't read them.... I have made brony music since 2011. I like all kinds of music and genres. I'm sure you'll like some of it.. In the bible- the use of magic is interpited as "talking to demons and using them" the show references nothing like that. Does not idealism usually lead to positivity and collective hope? One ideal that's a personal favorite of mine is Love And Tolerance. I dislike elitism based in popularity, but are you referring to moral elitism like the anti-R34 and anti-gore things, those that hate on others within the fandom for their actions? All those girls look pretty attractive to me and those fur-suits are kind of cool. On topic, it's the growing(and troubling) problem we have with severe cynicism towards the state of the fandom that makes me nervous. It makes me cringe, because there are people who make truly original characters, and they get no attention, but some mary sue who's part assassin and is married to/boning Fluttershy and had kids, gets praise. What is wrong with people? Feel free to add me on steam if you want to play something. Also don't be afraid to message and talk to me.
