Rule 34: Why? :,(

Vinyl Scratch.

Recommended Posts

Yeah, but i don't think many parents know what r34 is so they're pretty much as clueless as their children

I have a 40 year old sister with a teenage daughter(bless her heart) and I dread the day she gets her hands on a computer and enough free time I have to teach her the ways of the net and explain to my own flesh and blood which internet rules she should avoid to keep her sanity.

I got a notification saying this tread has been approved, the fuck does that mean?

I got that on another thread dealing with something touchy, so I assume it means some numbnuts reported the thread and the mods rejected the report.

Except that if you read a previous post of mine, the suggestions come up even with safesearch off. You won't see the pics if you click it, but the suggestions are still there.

I think it's also because of the people who aren't using that search for the reasons you would think. Some may be from /btards or trollers in general that add to its popularity

It apparently is some sort of bug they haven't gotten rid of. I guess newer users need to get their posts approved, and if one of those posts is in your thread then you get notified.

I always get a ton of those when I start a thread.

I'm not gonna lie, I don't have a problem with r34, but when it's r34 of LITTLE PONIES, I have to draw a line.

My little pony currently dominates the r34 site and, while a lot of it is well drawn and a lot of time and effort obviously went into it, it doesn't change the fact that they are ponies. Animals. :/ And they're... Sexy? :C

Just tryta ignore it if you don't like it.

I don't clop myself and whenever there's a form of clop on my timeline, dashboard, etc, I just ignore it and keep scrolling down. It seriously helps.

If possible try to ban certain words from appearing on your dashboard. This works on Tumblr, which I know for a fact.

Well, if you look up any pone on google, r34 is always there.
It's because of how many people looked up that topic, Google put it as a suggestion.
But, just put safe search on, or something.
It's just porn, you're not gonna burn in ball of flames if you see a little pone ass.

I'm not a clopper personally, never clopped in my life, and I don't like 90% of MLP R34, but there ARE some pictures that I really admire, because they're really well drawn, and I consider them as a kind of art.

I understand your despise toward this, but you have to understand people who like this stuff too. There are few quite good rationalizations in the "Clop survey" thread, it helped me understand cloppers. I was like you, I couldn't even comprehend the fact that such a thing exists, but after reading some posts from that thread, I began to understand. I really suggest you to read several pages of the thread, it could help you comprehend it. :)

And I'm still not into clopping, nor do I think I ever will do it.

As for the google suggestions, well, there's not exactly a dude making suggestions and picture subcategories himself, so it's not google's fault at all.

And if you really want to avoid seeing these pics at all costs, which I also understand, just turn SafeSearch on. It's a magical thing actually. Once I was searching "Octavia Melody" on google pictures with SafeSearch off (I didn't want to stumble upon any r34, it's turned off by default for me), and the 6th (6th!) result was a r34 picture (although 16+, but still, r34 is r34). So yeah, SafeSearch CAN make a difference.

Hope this helped! :)

Well porn is a very popular thing on the internet, so I'm not really surprised that it's so highly searched on google.

But think of the amount of people who look up regular porn and yet thats all blocked from coming up in suggestions, As I've said, I have othing against r34 or cloppers, I'm more thinking for childrens sake, I mean, MLP is still a kids show

Unfortunately, children using the internet in general will be exposed to it. Whether they are looking for MLP related material or not. I am not a porn crusader, I think after puberty a little porn is not exactly bad, but when tiny kids are running into this stuff it is kinda sick. Not to mention, if parents want to take their kid to a convention or something, and run into [it] during their research, [it] poses problems for our community image. On the other hand, maybe parents should have K9 installed and monitor their children. Kids don't need to be wired in before they are old enough to know the difference between a ding-dong and a whosy-whatter.

Imagine if a 7 year old wanted to find a picture if Pinkie Pie to print out and then she sees some rule 34??? That's horrible. Something should be done about that, at least add it to the mature filter..

Okay I dared to search the images of that and they are not the worst but anyway honestly rule 34 -_-

but saying that I got nothing really wrong and I can understand cloppers (my best friend is a clopper) it seems gross and stuff but actually no it's just how they are....

I don't think R34 in itself is inherently problematic, and I have absolutely no quarrels with individual R34 artists who find sexual pleasure in pastel-colored equines and variations of such except Tiarawhy.

However, I won't deny that R34, especially for MLP of all things, has become far too prevalent on the internet and is overall VERY problematic for the viewers of the show and even those simply watching it off to the side. And don't even get me started on the innocent little girl target demographic.

I won't oppose R34 or whatever comes out of it, but it REALLY needs to be kept more in check.

'Tis be sad that it must exist. But I personally think that the main cause of r34 comes not from cloppers, but rather trolls and /b/tards.

See, to understand why r34 is so popular, one must look at it's history. Before ponies even existed (4th generation I mean).

Back before "The Rules of the Internet" were even invented on 4chan, r34 already existed. It had to, otherwise they wouldn't have put it on the original list of the first 47 rules of the internet. So there where already people making porn out of anything, typically popular shows of the time. And of course all of it was being made by trolls and /b/tards.

Well on 10/10/10 a new show came out, and was very much talked about on 4chan. My Little Pony. Those who were brave, and watched it (thinking it would be a fail to laugh at) found it actually to be very entertaining. So they told others on 4chan about it. Others checked it out to see what all the talk was about. Well eventually, there were enough people to start threads about ponies. People talked so much about ponies, that there was to big of an increase of pony related stuff for mods to keep up with. Well on the other side, there still existed the trolls and /b/tards who did not like this at all. They hated ponies invading their home. So they started to fight back, and flame wars  broke out like crazy. They would attack the bronies with rude, unpolite, gore, and even...porn images to make fun of it. This would be known as the first time mlp was subjected to r34. It wasn't to clop to, it was to just be a /b/tard. Anyways, eventually 4chan banned ponies, but it didn't stop them. The bronies came back, and got banned again. So they just decided to leave to their own sites, and make new ones for them. That's when other people's sites such as YouTube, Deviantart, Facebook, etc. where all being bombarded with ponies all-of-a-sudden. That sparked more dislikes (as long as those who did actually like) and again, more attacking with porn and stuff. Pretty soon, r34 basically just grew just like the fandom itself, and stuck to it as a part of it. Now adays, it still exists, and sadly there probably are those who now make it just to clop, but that's not the reason it was invented. It's the internet. If you don't understand the prossess of how it works, it can be very dangerous to live in. The fact that Lauren Faust is famous for bronies, and basically started them, it only makes sence that she would be a subject to r34. And there will be others too. Just like r35 states "If no porn can be found, it will be made."
