Adachi 772 March 27, 2014 Share March 27, 2014 I mean, they're not as good as FiM (IMO), but without them, there would be no FiM. Also, I'm probably in the minority, but I actually like Gen 3 Rainbow Dash. Not nearly as cool as Gen 4 Rainbow Dash, but I like her nevertheless. PsychedelicPony 440 March 27, 2014 Share March 27, 2014 I've never seen any of the previous gens, mostly because I'm only 2 months into the fandom, so I can't form an opinion. I do have a question though, why in the Brony Documentary do they skirt over gen 3 like it never existed? Also, if Gen 3 was that god awful one where everyone had the same pigtail hair, I can see why they skirted over it. “I am quite sure now that often, very often, in matters concerning religion and politics a man’s reasoning powers are not above the monkey’s.” — Mark Twain
Denim&Venöm 18,939 March 27, 2014 Share March 27, 2014 Gen 3 is the only one I've watched. I've got 2 tapes and 2 DVDs and they're not that bad. The music score is good, the animation is decent, and they make genuine attempts during the voice acting. I was entertained. Just sat back and had fun while that youthful, fantasy loving part of my brain was entertained. But don't confuse Generation 3 with Generation 3.5. They made the distinction for a reason.

Bird Mom 900 March 27, 2014 Share March 27, 2014 I love them. I agree, G3 is the best. Mostly, I enjoy the personalities of the ponies. Ahh, I remember in G1 and G2, they called cutie marks "symbols". "Pay attention to these petals, Steven. The petals' dance seems improvised, but it is being calculated in real time based on the physical properties of this planet. With hard work and dedication, you can master the magical properties of your gem and perform your own dance!" PinkiePieJr 122 March 27, 2014 Share March 27, 2014 Generation 1 wasn't that bad. I watched it, and it was entertaining. It just was so fast in the story. One moment they are here, the next there just like that. But it was still cool with having bad guys and stuff. Wanna See My YouTube? How About My Memes? That 80s Pony 62 March 28, 2014 Share March 28, 2014 I love the first generation! I still find myself watching it here and there. But I'm not really too fond of the other gens, just the first and fourth. 1# G1 Fan
Colorful Respawn 399 March 28, 2014 Share March 28, 2014 (edited) I don't like the previous generations of My Little Pony because one the animation, yes I know what the era was, but still, they could've done better. Two the voice acting, to me the VAs sounded almost the same, except for the villains in the show, who were cheesy. Yes I've seen a couple of the previous generation episodes like the dreaded New Born Cuties *cringes*. But hey, if you're into the previous generation, I'm cool with that. These are just MY opinions. Chuckles4lyfe 441 March 28, 2014 Share March 28, 2014 Um no, can't say I have. ^^" Everything else just seemed too "girly" for me. ^^" I think Adorkable speaks for the majority of the brony fandom here. If all of us liked the previous incarnations of MLP, then none of us would face any hesitation in watching G4. Personally, I gave a couple of the G3 DVD specials a watch just to give it a fair chance. Honestly, I couldn't even get through 5 minutes of it without cringing at the terrible writing and poor animation. The show was talking down to its audience and I hate it when cartoons do that (it's a personal pet peeve of mine). I'll stick to G4 thank you very much. This incarnation of MLP may as well be in my top 5 favorite cartoons of all time list. #Squadgoals "But that day...The day I discovered racing...I proved that the legends were true. Steel Accord 6,660 March 28, 2014 Share March 28, 2014 I was a fan of the G1 movies when I was very, very young. I liked the different kinds of ponies! Really me becoming a brony is something I should have seen coming. KarentheUnicorn 218 March 28, 2014 Share March 28, 2014 I started out in 1983, when there was no cartoon. So I've watched a majority of MLP cartoons,so yes, I like them all but ya know, I sorta view the cartoons (g1-g4) as an accessory to the toy... Scootaloodle 1,622 March 28, 2014 Share March 28, 2014 Yes I do: I like all the gens in there own way although I don’t watch them much. I know lots really hate it, but I rather like MLP Tales, it’s not amazing but I rather enjoyed the ones I saw. On a whole I love G4 the best
Mars Caramel 319 March 28, 2014 Share March 28, 2014 My sister owned a copy of My Little Pony: Friendship Gardens, which is a PC game from gen 2, which I gave a try when I was young. I remember having a somewhat decent time with it, but that's all my familiarity for any of the previous generations.

Windseeker 546 March 28, 2014 Share March 28, 2014 (edited) Of course I liked ponies before I was a brony, they call us older generation fanboys Bigger Brothers, named after a group of male ponies on the show. I was always fond of Surprise and Firefly, I was in it for the show, not the toys. Haven't watched them all, there are hundreds of episodes and some are such a scarcity nowadays. Watched quite a bit of the third generation as well, it isn't bad (3.5 is a different story) as I was a fan of Thistle Whistle and Princess Rarity. I know Big Brothers, as in big brother ponies, but have never heard G1 guy fans call themselves Bigger Brothers, will have to ask about and see. ReverseFaller 2,483 March 28, 2014 Share March 28, 2014 (edited) Yes, I do like them in a way. I like them for the fact that they influenced G4. No older Generations, no G4 either. I don't like to actually sit down and watch the shows for the older generations. They just don't appeal to me all that much. I more or less appreciate that they were there, so that G4 can be here now. I never collected the toys because I was like ten years old and was too afraid to ask my parents to buy me any, those things are difficult to track down anymore. I wonder if he's a brony. 1 “I am quite sure now that often, very often, in matters concerning religion and politics a man’s reasoning powers are not above the monkey’s.” — Mark Twain
