Gardenia considered Coat Tail, and while the others introduced themselves to him, she swirled her wine about its glass. After Fizzle introduced herself, Gardenia thought to do the same, "and I'm Gardenia, pleasure to meet you, Coat Tail." She held her glass up as a friendly gesture, and took another small sip from it much like Emerald had done.

The darkness surrounding the carriage and her slight buzz had her eyelids droop a little. "It's still rather early in the day to be getting tired. Maybe it was a bad idea to drink something alcoholic so early, especially as I am not accustomed to it." She looked down into the red wine in her glass, the reflection of the lanterns dancing playfully off the surface of the liquid. It was quite mesmerizing.

As the others introduced themselves to one another, and conversed, Sunset suddenly found herself being asked about her work. She hadn't expected it, but was overjoyed to have sparked an interest in somepony, especially someone of esteem such as Emerald Gaze. "Oh, well, it's really quite simple.. I use my magic to capture the sensations of an event or moment in time, which I then gather and imbue into a batch of wax. I then make candles out of the wax. When you light the candle, you can feel the same sensations as that moment in time when the event happened. I can use other enchantments as well, such as sleep spells and the like for those who have troubles with insomnia." She thought for a moment, then reached into her bag. "I actually have a couple samples, little tea light candles made from the enchanted wax. I've marked them with tags to show what each of them do. Here's one of my most popular candles." She revealed a little candle made from a reddish wax with yellow and pink marbled through it. The tag read Sunset. "This is the one that earned me my cutie mark in fact. It has the radiance of a sunset, and will cause you to feel mildly euphoric and carefree. I have to make a lot of these." She chuckled. It had become her most sought after product out of almost everything else she had to offer. Sunset held the candle out for Emerald to take.

Emerald Gaze.

@@Midnight Scribbler,

Emerald leaned forward - intrigued by the candle as she took it in her hooves: loath to expend any more magical energy to hold it in addition to the glass, and bottle should anyone require a refill. Should her horn begin to glow uncontrollably with any significant intensity... well, it would be most embarrassing!

The marbled wax was beautiful certainly, but it was the magic it might contain that she was really interested in... especially when the mare mentioned some of the other effects that she could create. If they were truly magical in nature - as Emerald wholeheartedly believed - then they might be of tremendous value for more than just recreation.

"Simply divine... I would love to hear more, perhaps when we have settled in at our destination? It sounds like you possess a very unique talent dear." She said - briefly raising her piercing gaze up over the candle to look at the mare as she did. She took another delicate sip of wine - aware of the glass now running somewhat low and the very slight wavering of her vision. "Speaking of which, I wonder exactly where it is we are heading? I do hope that we all can find time to enjoy each others company while there."

Coat raised his eyebrows slightly at Emerald's comment, obviously directed at him. Is she paranoid? Blueblood, having ponies listen in on everything we say here?

He thought about it and realized that it actually sounded like a possibility.

Coat Tail listened to Sunset explain her candles with interest. His mind raced with possibilities. You could control the mood of a party, make sure it never petered out. You could make all but the worst dates seem good. An artist could make critics love their stuff. I bet I could even use it to make some great first impressions. Get ponies I've just met to trust me like an old friend.

Sipping his drink and trying to appear as casually as possible, he half-stepped towards Sunset.

"Wow, that's incredible! I bet they're a hit at parties. So do you actually have to be near the burning candle, or can the scent alone be enough? If you could make perfumes and such with similar effects..."

Sunset smiled as Emerald commented on her abilities. "Well thank you. Yes I do believe we should be able to. I doubt we'll be on the run all the time we're there. At least I should hope not." She chuckled. That wouldn't be very relaxing at all. "I believe the town we're staying in is called Bloodwell. I've not heard very much about it." She smiled as Coat Tail commented next. "Well, I suppose you're right, though I haven't thought of that. I've only ever used them for therapeutic purposes. Perhaps I'll have to try that idea sometime. The radius is usually determined by the size of candle. The more wicks burning the stronger the effect, although.." SunsetShe stopped speaking noticing something out the window. "Well, speaking of the town, there's a sign for the town there. We must be getting close." She smiled, and continued on with her original topic. "I suppose the scent does help to some degree, but I think it's really just the aura being released as the wax melts and burns away."

As the carriage moved along the road, the forest began to thin out more and more. Daylight began to shine through the trees little by little. It seemed to be much later in the day, but it was difficult to tell by how much later. "Odd, I've never seen a forest that dense before in all my life. It doesn't seem natural." Sunset thought with a slightly chilling feeling.

Muddle sat quietly in the back of the Carriage for quite sometime, sipping her drink and listening to the other ponies converse. She listened to the way everyone on the carriage spoke about their host, 'BlueBlood,' and slowly started to learn a bit more about his character. 'A jerk, spying on them, hides from the public?' She shook her head and erased the thoughts from her mind, 'The forced invite maybe odd, but he is still a prince...' Muddle thought on this for quite sometime, before deciding that she would respect him until they met him personally. 'Besides, if this were true sometime ago, ponies can change right?'

She made a small note of this resolve in her mind and continued to listen. Now she heard a Crimson pony, she swore was named Sunset, describe her talent and present and example. She continued to watch in silence, marveling at her abilities. She even thought of possible buying one later, 'They might actually come in handy?'

Finally, she finished her drink and rest it aside. Then Muddle took another look at the carriage and everyone she hadn't spoken to yet, for some reason, she sighed softly to herself. They all seemed like very nice ponies, but she just couldn't seem to keep her nerves under control. She had already begun to remember earlier. '...Actually~' If the worst she could do is just start talking about Gray again... or talking to me.

'Deep breath later.' For now, Muddle slowly started to clean her area to move.

Fizzle had been watching out the window as the others spoke, her ear twitching now and then to show that she was still listening to the conversation but not wanting to interrupt as the older other ponies spoke.  When it seemed like there was a lull in the conversation she turns her head to look at one of Sunset's candles, tilting her head a little.

"...Does the smoke do anything?"  The young mare lifts her gaze and smiles slightly, one of her ears twitching again.  "Er...  Ponies always take the smoke for granted.  And a lot don't like it once they do notice it...  It's always there though.  I mean, wherever there's a fire."

The carriage soon exited the forest and continued along its path, which now resembled more of a normal road. Those who looked out the left window would immediately notice fields of wheat surrounding a barn. The barn looked odd, certain sections of its walls were new, while the rest seemed old, ancient even. well as ancient as wood could look at least. If you had to make a guess it was being restored. Beyond the farmland was a lake, its far side was bordered by a mountain. All in all it looked pleasant enough.

To the right side of the carriage was a meadow, with flowers and trees. It looked tranquil and welcoming, a perfect place for a picnic perhaps? Or maybe it would just be a good place for a nap? Past the meadow was more forest, the same one that you had just past through. It looked as dark and unwelcoming as a forest could look.

Another minute or two passed as the carriage trudged towards the forward. Slowly a town came into view. Just like the barn certain buildings seemed to stand out as brand new, while others seemed old and worn. One thing stands out, almost as much as the disparity between the buildings, you don't see any ponies walking the streets.

The carriage, for practically the first time since you had entered the forest, began taking a few sharp turns before pulling to a stop. From what you could see you were most likely in the town's square, albeit it seemed like more of a circle.

Several seconds later the carriage door was pulled opened by the same, although exhausted looking, stallion that had accepted your letters when you climbed in. Behind him stood an earth pony, whose expression was grim and serious. The stallion's coat was a relatively light gray which was complemented by his black mane. His clothes were very extravagant (even if they seemed a little dated) and gave him an air of sophistication and grace.

.He waited patiently for all six of you to get out of the carriage before speaking. "It pleases me to finally be able to greet all of you," his voice was gentle and relaxing, every word he spoke was pronounced clearly and perfectly. "My name is Red Cask, I am the Steward of Bloodwell Manor, Personal Servant of Lord Blood- *Ahem* Lord Blueblood, while he is staying here and the temporary Director of this resort. First, I would like to apologize for the sorry state of our home. It's embarrassing to admit but there are very few of us left in the village and it soon became impossible to maintain the entire town with only a few hoof-fulls of ponies. However I assure you that before the resort opens we will have the entire town in full repair. I pray that you will be able to look past the few dilapidated buildings and enjoy your stay."

"Now that that is out of the way," The stallion said as he reached into a pocket and produced six folded slips of paper. He gave a copy to each of you before continuing. "This is a map of the resort and the open businesses and available entertainment. Starting from the left, we have opened the docks, where you may go for a swim, rent a boat, or if it tickles your fancy,  rent some fishing gear. We only ask that let the fish go after you catch it. Next we have the farm, which isn't necessarily open for guests but you may feel free to visit it if you wish."

"Next would be the service quarter, where normally guests may buy anything they have forgotten to bring or any items that they fancy. There is also a restaurant, which serves only the finest Canterlotian cuisine, of course they also serve more exotic dishes, if that is what fancies your palette. To the North of that is a bank, though I doubt you will need their services. Further to the East, is another restaurant, which also doubles as a cafe, though this one is mainly for the locals and serves more common food, I certainly doubt they would turn away any new faces."

"Now last but definitely not least is the Play House. At the moment, we only have ponies practicing their acts for when we finally open. However, I myself have each of the entertainers. I believe them to be more than ready for when we open. During the evenings is when the local theater group practices their plays. In the mornings, a magician is practicing her show...though the young magician mare has been having a little trouble recently. Despite that it should still be worth watching."

"Now, as I'm sure a few of you might have noticed the mansion by now, it is normally off-limits. Though, due to the fact that the town's library is currently being renovated, you may, under my personal watch, visit to borrow some books."

"Finally the hotel that all of you will be staying at is directly to the Southeast of the well. Once again, I'm afraid to admit that we were underprepared for your visit. There is no sign for the hotel, however it is the largest building at the town's center. I trust you will have no problems remembering it. Now are there any questions?"

Sunset looked curiously at Fizzle. Her comment was true, though it seemed odd for her to point out such a thing. "Yes, I suppose you are right.. It's the burning wax which releases the magic stored in the candle, the smoke might carry it more, I'm not certain."

She pondered this thought, as she turned her gaze out the window, taking in the vast meadows beyond the woods. Patches of trees grew in the clearing, breaking up the grassland. They looked calm and welcoming compared to the darkness along the road, and in the surrounding woods. Soon the town of Bloodwell was in sight, and it seemed quite a bit less resort-like than Sunset had expected. Not that it didn't look nice, but it was much like any small town.. that is, if you discounted the lack of population. There was something immediately strange about this place to Sunset, though she couldn't place what.

The carriage rolled up the streets, and made it's way into the town center and stopped finally. The coach master opened the door, and began unloading the baggage from the storage racks, placing them on the cobblestone road. Leaving her glass in the place she'd found it, Sunset departed the carriage, and waited as the others did the same. She noticed an oddly old fashioned looking pony, who was waiting there for them, and he began to greet them as they stepped out.

"A pleasure to meet you, Mr. Cask. Thank you for your hospitality, I am sure you and the others here have done a lot of work to keep this place up. It is a very pretty town.. I look forward to seeing more of it." She smiled warmly, and picked up her bag, tossing it over her back. "Are there any planned events for today? I wouldn't mind getting settled in first though."

As the carriage came to a halt, Emerald followed after Sunset. Naturally eager to inspect this new location, she listened respectfully and stored away the information at the back of her mind. One never knew - perhaps something that seemed irrelevant might prove useful to recall, perhaps around the arrogant prince of to win the favour of one of the locals.

There were a few things that she wasn't quite certain about - this town seemed to by undergoing restoration of some kind... but why now? Surely Blueblood would be the very last pony to start a renovation project in a dilapidated village... Not that she was complaining! The architecture was dated, but quite magnificent. It was rustic - managing to remain both charming and grand at the same time.

The mansion in particular... such a shame that it was restricted. of course, she could respect that the owner no doubt valued their privacy but it was unusual: in her experisnce, such placed tended to by highly welcoming. A shame: there was a certain acquaintance of hers would dearly like to investigate it further.

"Monsieur Cask, further to my beautiful friend's question, might I ask my own?" She added, stepping up beside Sunset. "Are we to be the only guests, or should we expect further company? Simply out of curiously, you understand - this fine town seems suited to entertain far more than us few, though I won't deny that I am honoured to be one of so few invited if not."

Gardenia

Gardenia was one of the last ones to step out of the carriage, not entirely too eager to rush out. Further, she hardly noticed with any immediacy that the carriage even stopped, but she broke out of reverie when the others started to leave. She took one final drink of her wine, emptying its contents finally.

As she stepped out, she took in the appearance of the stallion before them, "hmm... Red Cask? Seems amiable enough. In fact, seems quite more a gentlestallion then his employer, at the least." Gardenia listened attentively as he listed the various locales that they were free to visit; the two that caught her attention specifically were the Library and Play House. She wondered what kind of books a small town like this could have, "some hidden gems, perhaps?"

Sunset and Emerald spoke up, asking some questions to M. Cask, and she had to admit she was curious if there was anything specific planned. Not that she wasn't content to settle in and check out the locales on her own time, but it would be nice to know. One thing said by Emerald stood out to her, though. "'my beautiful friend's question,'" she repeated in her mind she glanced over to view Sunset, "yeah, well, I suppose she is pleasant to look at. Seems an odd thing to say, though."

Coat was a bit surprised at the town they had arrived in. The disparity between the old and new buildings was off-putting. I know many royals are into tradition and vintage things and whatnot, but this looks pretty sloppy, even for a restoration...

The lack of other ponies was also a bit surprising; the letter may not have been to clear on the nature of the visit, but he had been under the impression that it would be a largish gathering. He was about to voice his curiosity when Emerald beat him to it.

Guess that explains that. Still pretty strange, though.

Emerald Gaze.

"Excellent, most excellent." Mused Emerald with a firm smile... after all, projecting confidence tended to be an excellent way of asserting herself, should the need arise.

'Wolves? I won't deny that the woods were unusually grim, but a midnight curfew? Well done Fizzle: I wouldn't have thought to ask that...'

She looked around at the small group that they had travelled with: the three she had spoken with the most all seemed to be intelligent, polite and morally upstanding. The others, she needed to make a point of learning more about. Perhaps that could wait though: it had been a long trip and she was aching to stretch her legs a little - find the place where she was staying and maybe find a cloak to keep warm... if the architecture here was anything to judge by, the evenings might tend to be chilly.

"You are too kind, Mr Cask. We might be guests but please, don't hesitate to ask if I can help in any way..." Certainly, it could be enlightening to speak more with the ponies here - and they seemed quite charming regardless. Archaic perhaps - their appearance and intonation seemed somewhat dated but, well... that was hardly a problem in her eyes. "Is there anything else that we should be aware of before we depart?"

Sunset Glow

@@SilverHeart,

@@Umbreon,

Sunset blushed lightly as Emerald mentioned her looks in such a high opinion. As matter of fact as it seemed to have been said, she wasn't expecting it. A pleasant surprise to say the least. She smiled and listened as Red Cask explained about the curfew, among other things about the resort. Her smile faded slightly as he mentioned timber wolves, and the forest being dangerous. It sounded much like the Everfree in many ways. A very strange place indeed, not somewhere she'd ever wanted to be exactly.

At the mention of having their baggage looked after for them, Sunset felt somewhat relieved, and yet wary. She didn't always like to leave her belongings with other ponies, but right now, she was interested in seeing this place. She shrugged off her mild paranoia, and smiled once more. "Thank you very much, Mr. Cask. I must say, I am impressed with the service we've been shown thus far. We will see you at dinner then." She placed her bag down next to the carriage, and gazed around at the town square. She noticed a sign, it was aged, but still clear enough to make out the image of two masks. Tragedy and Harmony.. the symbol of the theater, and below it was an arrow.

She leaned toward Emerald a little bit, and motioned to the sign. "I think I'd like to take a stroll in that direction if anypony is interested in following." She smiled, and glanced to the others in the group to see if they'd noticed too.

Gardenia

"Timber wolves? How dreadful... I don't even know how I should consider those. Are they flora or fauna? Hmm, either way, I suppose they're too dangerous to observe up close, anyway. Best if I avoid such." Gardenia mentally shuddered at the thought. As a scholar, such creatures were quite interesting; there was scant documents on them in the Royal Canterlot Library. But, it wasn't exactly a mystery as to why.

More then willing to allow Cask to settle her lodging arrangements, Gardenia's mind and gaze had wandered about. Her eyes would occasionally stall on one of her new acquaintances, but she kept a check on herself to not stare. In her head, she was considering what laid ahead, what to do with the day. The playhouse was certainly interesting, and she reconsidered all of her acquaintances, considering whose company she would most enjoy in that situation. "Hmm... Emerald is such a pleasant mare; and we have plenty in common, or at least I would think so. Perhaps I should..." but before Gardenia could invite Emerald to such, Sunset spoke up.

"Oh, what a pleasant coincidence," Gardenia said, walking up alongside Emerald, opposite Sunset. She gave a friendly smile at Sunset, "the theater had piqued my interest as well." She turned her head slightly to look at Emerald, and she fluttered her eyelashes a bit, not entirely on purpose, "it does sound quite delightful, surely you'll accompany us, Emm?"

Well this was quite perfect: these two dears were fine company, and the more she learned about their interests, the more she enjoyed their presence. Of course, Emerald was still careful of her surroundings - and more than just a little curious of this unusual village - but her suspicions could wait a few hours at least. So long as she kept her wits about her, it wouldn't hurt to 'loosen up' and enjoy herself.

There had been no sign of Blueblood so far at least.

"The theatre then!" She announced after a pause. "it will be interesting to see some of the village as we pass by too: as well as spending time to grow acquainted with yourselves. Shall we?"

Fizzle

Fizzle rubs at the back of her mane briefly as the others discuss their plans, looking at the map and chewing on her bottom lip while trying to decide what she wanted to do.  The theater did sound neat, and she would like to spend time with her new friends...  But then again, they were all older and...  Well, more sophisticated than she was.  They probably didn't want her tagging along, and she didn't want to ruin anypony else's good time.

"I...  Think I might just walk around for a bit, maybe visit some shops..."  The younger mare smiles and laughs quietly as the tip of her horn sticking through her mane lights up, rolling up the map.  "Er, unless anypony wants to hang out later, or something.  I guess that means we'll meet up again at dinner?"

Muddle

After questions had been answered, and everyone had begun deciding where to go, Muddle thought it would be easy too decide where she would explore herself. 'Then why is this so hard.' Naturally, the theater was the first thought that came into her mind. She had heard about the magician performing there from cask and seemed to enjoy the thought of watching an act rather than performing. 'And that problem that cask said she was having?' Another thought seemed to cross her mind, but she shook it away, realizing that she might not have been the right one to give advice anyways. 'Besides, I'm on and all expense paid vacation... right?'

She seemed terribly distracted when she walked over to Cask. Thankfully, her wondering mind hadn't made her completely rude. She looked towards Cask and politely asked him to carry her bags to the room. 'Oh wait...' She wasn't exactly thinking when she opened the bag to pull out her bits and change of clothes, especially with how quiet it had been, there was no way for her to notice.

She obliviously turned around, and decided to explore the town herself.  'Well, there's plenty of time to go there later. Besides, it might look like I'm stalker or something... ' She had to introduce herself later. "Er, unless anypony wants to hang out later, or something." And maybe she was just given a chance. 'How to approach without looking odd though...' She started by opening her mouth to speak, then decided to~ try her best. "Um, hey? I'm actually going to explore town too... Just thinking that we might be running in to each other anyways and..." She shut up and smiled sheepishly, "I'm Muddle."

Coat had been following a bit behind the mares as he thought through his options. Nothing in particular jumped out at him, but he didn't really want to do anything outdoors. That ruled out anything on the lake, or watching the farmers or builders do their thing. He didn't want to shop until he knew more about what they were actually doing there.

The only things he really wanted to do were find a decent pastry and learn more about Sunset and her magic. I might try copying it later, see if I can make myself stand out more to any nobles we might meet.

Coat walked up along side them. "Surely you won't mind if I accompany you? I'd love to see the theater, not to mention that cafe that seems to be on the way."

He looked at the three of them, his gaze lingering a little longer on Sunset before he caught himself. Don't want to seem weird...
