How can i persuade my girlfriend to come to Bronycon with me?

I'm visiting my aunt in Boston during the summer and I've decided to take a side trip to Baltimore for a day.

However my girlfriend doesn't want to go and she definetly doesn't want our 8yr old girl going.

How do I persuade her that Bronycon isn't filled with weirdos?

Just sit her down on the morning of the convention and say "Honey, let's be honest with each other. Do you think your napkin smells like chloroform?"

Ah the ol smell this napkin route, works every time.

Hairspray Ray of Doom is another very fine option.

Once she awakens and realizes she was drugged and transported against her will, she'll have no choice but to concede that the people at BronyCon are delightfully normal compared to her boyfriend.

If she doesn't want to go, why force her? That's a sure way to end up with an EX Girlfriend. I still don't get why many bronies think every person the know MUST also be a fan.

I'm not forcing her to go. I just thought that it would be a nice day trip from my aunt's in Boston, but being as you're a woman I'll take your advice and not push the idea anymore! Oh yeah, I don't consider myself a Brony, just someone who loves to watch cartoons!

I agree with cindyhoney, if she doesn't want to go, she doesn't want to go, as long as you going doesn't jeopardize your relationship with her, everything is cool.

Gen Con Indy has a Spouse Activities Program. The event page is currently outdated, but I assume it will happen in 2014.

Unfortunately, I don't think there's anything similar at Bronycon... *If* you decide to visit Baltimore, perhaps your significant other will want to tour the city. It has five useful free buses, and a good number of neighborhoods are reasonably safe.

First of all Do not tell her you are going to a Bronycon and then follow these steps.

Step 1: Tell her your taking her out someplace fun but its a secret.

Step 2: Then tell her your plan was to just go someplace completely random after you pretend to drive around and pretend to make decisions on which way you "want" to go next.

Step 3: Then say when you get close to the convention....Hey! I wonder whats goin on over there...lets go!

Step 4: Enter the Brony Con while ignorin her for a bit if she asks obvious and logical questions.

Step 5: Go inside brony con!

Step 6: Oh hey! This all looks neat. MLP? Well I am not exactly a "lie without lying on this one" the biggest fan ever but I seen an episode or two...Well if anything we can just make fun of everyone here. Know what would be funny? Just look around and check it out for laughs. It could be fun!

Step 7: Enjoy your Brony Con.

Don't force her. Go, and ask her and your daughter to pick you up or meet you somewhere outside during the con. Maybe bring one of your "less weird" acquintances that are not dressed up as a pony, so she'll see not all bronies are obsessive. You might talk about what happened at the convention, but don't bring up ponies ... talk about everyday life so she can join.

You could make it a deal that you ate dinner together in the city the two days the con lasts and afterwards, you went back to it. Just make sure you're not rambling about ponies all the time. Ask about how she's (they're) doing.

Maybe this'll make her calm and make her trust you so much that she'll go another time. Bronycon is, after all, quite expensive - for many bronies, too!

It might be better if you actually brought her to a smaller meet-up that lasted only a day or something. You could have a nanny over that day.

/ SOrry - this showed up somewhere on the website. Didn't check the date.

How'd it go?

I once persuaded my now ex-Girlfriend to go with me to an anime convention . It's super-cliche but I just did something really nice that made her really happy and then in the height of her joy I asked her again and it worked.  It's not the best tactics but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.  :ninja:
