Inspiration struck me in the March Madness thread...I thought, hey, we're discussing vegetables, and what better way to bring back some fun and togetherness than by making a contest out of something delicious, innocuous, and healthy? Anyways, this will work sort like the original setup of the MM poll, but on a smaller scale. I will keep this topic open to vegetable suggestions until we reach 50, at which time I will begin the poll creations. I have begun the list with the ones I feel are necessary, and I am open to add-ons. BEGIN!

(And yes, I know some of these are technically not vegetables, but I'm going by our typical use and not by botanical classification. Hence, tomatoes, et cetera)

Asparagus

Brussels Sprouts

Broccoli

Cauliflower

Onions

Bell Peppers

Tomatoes

Peas

Green Beans

Corn

Lettuce

Kale

Cabbage

Spinach

Cress

Radishes

Beets

Eggplant

Cucumber

Zucchini

Carrots

Parsnips

Rutabaga

Water Chestnuts

Artichoke

Black Beans

Garbanzo Beans (Chickpeas)

Okra

Collard Greens

Celery

Olives

Chives

Leeks

Shallots

Potatoes. Because fries and chips are made from them. I also like a good baked potato with salt.

Black beans are added! I'm leaving potatoes out because they aren't actually vegetables, and really have never been treated as such. They've always been a starchy dish along with rice and pasta and most potato sides with meals are accompanied by a veggie dish.

Besides, with potatoes being the base of both fries and chips, there would be no contest in this poll!

Mushrooms... those are incredible to eat!

Mushrooms, much like me, are a fun guy, and not generally viewed as a vegetable, so for the purposes of this poll they are not eligible.  :(

1. Potatoes, because they're great in every form.

2. Cooked carrots (glazed)

3. Corn on the cob (Honey Select)

4. Green beans (blue lakes)

5. Broccoli (raw/dip or cooked with cheese)

Corn on the cob is best corn.

If we're talking pain vegetables, I'd go with raw peas in the pod because of the sweetness. But just in general, I love water chestnuts because they can add some crazy good crunchy texture to any casserole, as long as they're cooked right.

Water chestnuts are a very misunderstood vegetable, I love them.

Peas are probably my favorite vegetable besides corn on the cob or asparagus.

How could water chestnuts be misunderstood? They're basically the whole point of eating Chinese food.

Most people don't eat them outside of Chinese food though. Not many people cook them themselves, at home.
