Adachi 772 April 17, 2014 Share April 17, 2014 Here are the philosophies I live by Ponyism - Love and tolerate everyone. Respond to hate with love and logic. If they continue to hate, you're not loving and tolerating them enough. Pinkieism - Try to make everypony around you smile. And try to maintain those smiles. Also, always smile, even if you don't feel like smiling. The mission of every Pinkieist is to make the world a better place by spreading joy and laughter throughout the world. Knight's Code - Basically, be as noble, virtuous, truthful, etc as you can. Never break a promise. Protect the weak. Give to those who have less. And other stuff like that. Bushido - 8 noble virtues of samurai warriors. They include Rectitude/Justice, Honor, Loyalty, Benevolence/Mercy, Honesty/Sincerity (still working on that, too attached to money and junk that's not good for me), Politeness, Character and Self-Control, Courage Way of the Sith - Some take the slower, but safer path. Others, take the dangerous express lane. Sith embrace change and chaos. Jedi embrace order and stability. A Jedi is secure, but has to answer to many. A Sith decides his own fate, but great care must be taken, lest one falls to the Dark Side of the force. 4 “I am quite sure now that often, very often, in matters concerning religion and politics a man’s reasoning powers are not above the monkey’s.” — Mark Twain
Guest90210 3,568 April 17, 2014 Share April 17, 2014 1. No regrets. What's done is done, and there is no changing the past. Move on and assess your current situation and dictate what's best accordingly instead of banking on the past. 2. The only loser is the one who quits at the starting line. You are only a loser if you never try at all. You have to fall to learn how to stand up. 3. Treasure those close to you. 4. Don't judge a book by it's cover. I know this from first hand experience. Being judged unfairly isn't fun so I don't want to do that to someone else. 5. Be yourself.
Something Floaty 1,334 April 17, 2014 Share April 17, 2014 I have my own philosophy that I live by, it is a mixture of the tenets of multiple other philosophies, and is therefore difficult to explain fully. However, it has kept me from getting caught being sent to prison, and what more can you ask from a personal credo? 1 Signature created by Champion RD92

BastementSparkle 20,326 April 17, 2014 Share April 17, 2014 I basically live by "Do whatever you want, as long as it doesn't cause harm to others", and "Be kind to those around you". I like being nice to people, I hate hurting others and causing distress. But, at the same time I'm not going to just stop doing something I like to do just because someone else doesn't like it. I'll certainly respect their opinions, but that's about it. 1 Twilight is best pony. Why hello MLPForums! What have ya been up to?

Thunderchild 875 April 17, 2014 Share April 17, 2014 This sums it all up better than I ever could: "Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world . Be cheerful. Strive to be happy. ” Max Ehrmann, "Desiderata

Winterbass 763 April 17, 2014 Share April 17, 2014 (edited) When I wake up, I always tell myself motivating things, it makes me happy and makes me take on the day with a determined smile on my face, and an everlasting happy thought in my head. I do it every single day, it's kind of a philosophy for myself, to get what I really wish for, and to be myself, the best of myself at all times. When I wake up, I'm a winner from the moment I open my eyes, I'm phenomenal, a professional and a motivator. I speak words I have thought about, I stay calm, collected and smile. There's no one on this planet I can't take without the right words, there always is an option. And even when I fail, I can forgive myself for failing. But what I can't forgive myself for is giving up, or not trying. When I'm on a treadmill competing against someone to see who lasts the longest, either he gives up, or I die of exhaustion. Because no matter what, there's always something worth doing, and if you give yourself that 100%, you will get that what you want. I am what I think about most of the time, a winner, an optimist, a motivator. If I cannot help the people around me smile and brighten up, I can't get myself to smile, because not only am I a winner, everyone is, and everyone deserves to know that. The people around me are important, even the strangers on the corners, they are someone who are also treasured by friends and family. I try to help the people around me as much as possible, I will have to be friendly and polite, but also realistic. Whatever it takes, I will fall onto my bed and sleep the way as I stood up, a winner, phenomenal. Just something I made up just now x3 Edited April 17, 2014 by Winterbass

Ribbonfree 2,383 April 17, 2014 Share April 17, 2014 I live by the principle that I have opportunity. In this very community. The only thing I try to make a point is to keep an open mind and always consider every side to a story. There's an old adage I picked up from a video game, 'flip the chessboard'. As in, in this game of life, you can only see victory if you understand what your opponents see as well as you understand what you see.

Jeric 46,851 April 17, 2014 Share April 17, 2014 No originality here. No order of importance. Two of these are Emerson. The Whitman line is my favorite piece of 'Song of Myself'. 1. Truth resists simplicity 2. “The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.” 3. Understand your limitations, but challenge your understanding. 4. “Be silly. Be honest. Be kind.” 5. "In all people I see myself, none more and not one a barleycorn less/and the good or bad I say of myself I say of them" I don't like defining other people, but I'll call myself a transcendental libertarian.

#1FluttershyFan 206 April 18, 2014 Share April 18, 2014 My Words of Advice: 1) Don't complain- If you can fix the problem, then fix the problem, if you can't, don't bother me about it. 2)Be open-minded-The only way to expand yourself as a person is to be open to new ideas. 3)Don't judge a book by it's cover-Behind every mean face, there is a person. 4)Why?-To every statement, ask why (Seriously, it works in almost every situation). 5)Stand up for yourself-If somepony says any mean statement to you, ask them why it matters. 2 - "Um... I was just wondering if it's okay if I hold you down against your will for a little bit?" Fluttershy is Best Pony!

Yes, everyone. Even if they do things that you think are despicable. Love. Everybody. Repay good for evil, but don't do it because it irks people. That's just as bad as being evil back. Frostgage 7,975 April 19, 2014 Share April 19, 2014 (edited) The first and most important thing to me is to take care of myself before thinking about anything else. I know that sounds selfish but I believe everyone has the right to focus on doing what's best for themselves first. Having said that, I always try to be kind/polite, even if the other person doesn't deserve it. I also want to do everything I attempt to the best of my abilities, if I do that, I won't have any regrets.
